Picasso created illustrations for Honoré de Balzac's novel The Unknown Masterpiece in 1931. The novel is about a 17th century painter in Paris named Frenhofer who becomes obsessed with creating the perfect female nude. Picasso's illustrations brought the story and characters to life through his signature Cubist style.
