My grandmother Beth in the 1920’s after 6 months of preparation
went to teach in a one room school house in rural Alberta. She had no
choice but to choose isolation as a teacher because she was it. Now,
we choose to stay in our caves and teach or to collaborate with others.
Let’s get out of our teaching caves. Come into the learning light.
Technology companies release software in beta phase with bugs included
knowing that users will find the flaws and participate in its improvement.
The open source advocate Tim O’Reilly talks about the practice of perpetual beta where users are trusted as co-developers and the “product” is developed in the open & software getsricher as more people use them. This idea of “harnessing collective intelligence” intrigues me.
