Hinweis der Redaktion

  1. 1. Targeting employers—research is the key to positioning yourself for this field. DC is a hot bed for NPs and Government related opportunities, so you want to research to 1) identify new, up and coming opportunities 2) narrow down the broad list 3) determine where MBA skill set is most applicable (e.g., PMF in Government program, or agencies that value private sector experience: SEC, Treasury). Know how current trends affect possible opportunities—i.e. government budget cuts and availability of programs. Not all organizations follow typical MBA hiring process (lack of resources, specialized process USA JOBS, number of openings, targeting other venues-conferences etc.) Timeline is extended, hiring more just-in-time, but set-up work can best position you for success. Important to use variety of methods for accessing these opportunities, multiple strategies is key. networking #1 (utilize alumni and speakers to build knowledge and network)Strong relationships that recruit on campus or have presence at club events: FBI, Secret Service, OMB, Treasury, Education Pioneers, Rare, Community Wealth Ventures. Internship resources: MBA Non Profit Connection Internship postings 2. Club Events—getting involved in club events offers alumni interaction, show interest/passion for field3. Career Fairs—both National and Georgetown specific, Great resources: devex.com, MNC summer internships, makingthedifference.org etc.
