Mother of soldiers
1. MOTHER OF SOLDIERS: FIORELLA AND
JIMENA
â˘Elizabeth: (crying)
â˘Rose: hey Elizabeth! Why are you crying?
â˘Elizabeth: I am crying because my older son that is 18,
in the day of his birthday was told that he was going to
go to the war, and right now I receive a letter from the
general saying that something terrible happened to
him.
â˘Rose: oh, I have a 22 year old boy, and he was told to
go to the war last month, is not the first time that he
goes, but I am so8i worried about him!
2. ⢠Elizabeth: my son the three days that he was on war
he sent me letters saying me that he was okay and
that the war was difficult. The only thing that I could
see positive of this is the honor of having a son that
was sacrificing his self for the country.
⢠Rose: I understand you so much! Something similar
happened to me once. What do you have in your
hand? Is that the letter of the general?
⢠Elizabeth: Yes
⢠Rose: if you want and if it makes you better, you can
read it to me, I can listen and if you need I can stay
helping you!
3. ⢠Elizabeth: Okay thank you.
Dear Mrs. Elizabeth:
The untimely and tragic loss of your son, Damon, who
met his death at the battle of the Somme, has shocked all of us
deeply. Some measure of comfort may be derived from the
knowledge that he died in the service of his country and in the
defense of a peace-loving people.
I am confident that his devotion to duty, at the cost of all
he held dear, will hasten the day when ruthless aggression shall
disappear from the face of the earth and free men everywhere will
live together in peace and harmony.
Our faith enables us to withstand the shock and grief of
death. It is my earnest prayer that Almighty God will sustain and
strengthen you in this hour of trial. While the loss of your beloved one
will be a hardship, we know that no life is really lost for those who
have faith in God.
Sincerely yours,
General Haig
4. ⢠Rose: oh my god I canât imagine how you and
your family are feeling like. When my son,
Richard that now is 22 years old went to the
war at once, I was very scared, worried, I
didnât know what to think but then I realized
that in some way I had to be proud of him,
because he went to the war to represent our
country.
⢠Elizabeth: oh yes I understand that feeling, it
happened to me, Thank you so much!
