Social Media… the importance of it
Zillions of conversation are going on whether you like it or not. People, fans, and customers are
having conversations about business, who won the ball game last night and what was worn at
the Oscars.
For example: before a person even goes to a restaurant 72% of these people have already
followed it on Twitter and liked it on Facebook. If the food and service is good, 9 out of 10 of
these people will either tweet about it or post something about it after the visit.
How does social
media work? It’s a lot like
ripples in a lake, except they are called
influence ripples.
A story is posted on a social media
channel, this story is picked up by a
fan and shared with their friends.
Those friends then share or repost
this story to others in other networks
and other social media channels.
One story can be seen by hundreds
and even millions of people.

What makes social media so compelling sometimes isn't the numbers, but the stories.
Specifically, it's the stories people tell each other about their lives, about their interactions with
companies, about everything else they do.

Below is SPECK Media’s social media strategy process. It contains four deliverables. It’s
purpose is to correctly execute on the stated goals using social media.
Having a process is the best way to:
- Understand what is being purchased
- Have tangible deliverables that relate to the stated goals
- Have set documentation in order to know exactly what each chosen social media channel’s
purpose is.
- See the results of the strategy (specific return on investment).
- Have the ability to modify the strategy based on changes and outcomes.

Deliverable 1
Kick-Off
We begin with a Kick-off meeting where we we go over any questions about social
media. We consider this social media 101 for clients. We also start with a Goals
Worksheet, basically a helping tool for clients to determine the social media goals
for the project,

Deliverable 2
IDEA session
Our Ideas Session is about finding the core ideas and stories that will be be the key
elements in generating the content for the next 6 months.
At the end of an IDEA Session we have between 3 to 4 ideas which are coupled to
many 60-100 stories. This intellectual property becomes the building blocks of our
social media strategy, the ecosystem and will be key to the design, build and roll-out of
each social media channel.

Deliverable 3
Editorial Calendar
We design and build out each social media channel. If your channels are
already established, we optimize them.
Our Editorial Calendar deliverable includes: Our Game Plan, a monthly
blueprint of what you want to accomplish. We brainstorm a plan based on
your goals every month by phone with you or your marketing team.

People, fans, and customers are having conversations about business, who won the ball game last night and what was worn at the Oscars. For example: before a person even goes to a restaurant 72% of these people have already followed it on Twitter and liked it on Facebook. If the food and service is good, 9 out of 10 of these people will either tweet about it or post something about it after the visit. How does social media work? It’s a lot like ripples in a lake, except they are called influence ripples. A story is posted on a social media channel, this story is picked up by a fan and shared with their friends. Those friends then share or repost this story to others in other networks and other social media channels. One story can be seen by hundreds and even millions of people. 1 2 3 4 What makes social media so compelling sometimes isn't the numbers, but the stories. Specifically, it's the stories people tell each other about their lives, about their interactions with companies, about everything else they do. Stories are powerful. Stories sell.

In general social media benefits companies two ways: Awareness and Cost Saving. It’s purpose is to correctly execute on the stated goals using social media. Having a process is the best way to: - Understand what is being purchased - Have tangible deliverables that relate to the stated goals - Have set documentation in order to know exactly what each chosen social media channel’s purpose is. - See the results of the strategy (specific return on investment). - Have the ability to modify the strategy based on changes and outcomes. We consider this social media 101 for clients. We also start with a Goals Worksheet, basically a helping tool for clients to determine the social media goals for the project, Key Takeaways 1. Complete overview and details for starting a social media. 2. High Level goal determined, medium level goals determined. tactical goals determined. 3. Overall charter for this project documented.

All ideas and stories are captured via images, Excel and PDF. 3. Buy-in from executives, decision makers and marketing team. Deliverable 2 IDEA session Our Ideas Session is about finding the core ideas and stories that will be be the key elements in generating the content for the next 6 months. At the end of an IDEA Session we have between 3 to 4 ideas which are coupled to many 60-100 stories. This intellectual property becomes the building blocks of our social media strategy, the ecosystem and will be key to the design, build and roll-out of each social media channel.
