Final ENGL 200 Portfolio
1. “Take Yourself out of The Context” All submitted writings are provided by: Lindsay Fohn A satirical portfolio
2. Analysis is like Cutting a Chicken into Parts Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix What makes Harry Potter addictive are the characters, the props, and the plot Hogwarts is an actual castle composed of several locations: Oxford University of England, the “Bodleian Library” and commons; “Alnwick Castle”, the outer grounds such as traveling to Hagrids cottage; and finally Christ Church used for the “Great Hall” (Destinations UK). 4 Harry Potter Ron Weasley Harmione Granger 1 “Take Yourself out of The Context” 7 5
3. Analysis is like Cutting a Chicken into Parts Everyone of the characters have a determination brought on by love for their personal views. Nothing can take away this love (Now would be a good time to click on the H) The Harry Potter series are by far the best novels that were delivered to children Definitely recommended for the continuation of imagination “Take Yourself out of The Context” Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix 6
4. USSR Fidelity Regina Spektor I never loved nobody fully Always one foot on the ground And by protecting my heart truly I got lost in the sounds I hear in my mind all these voices I hear in my mind all these words I hear in my mind all this music And it breaks my heart x2 When it breaks my heart Suppose I never ever met you Suppose we never fell in love Suppose I never ever let you Kiss me so sweet and so soft Suppose I never ever saw you Suppose we never ever called Suppose I kept on singing love songs Just to break my own fall Just to break my fall X3 Break my fall X2 All my friends say that of course It’s gonna get better Gonna get better Better X6 I never loved nobody fully Always one foot on the ground And by protecting my heart truly I got lost in the sounds I hear in my mind all these voices I hear in my mind all these words I hear in my mind all this music And it breaks my heart X1 I hear in my mind all these voices I hear in my mind all these words I hear in my mind all this music When it breaks my heart X7 “Take Yourself out of The Context”
5. USSRInterpretation of Fidelity I never loved nobody fully- cannot completely love one person. Always one foot on the ground- Not allowing to be overcome by blissful ignorance of love that does allow some people see truths. Reality versus dream world. And by protecting my heart truly-By not falling in love, keeps the heart from hurt. I got lost in the sounds-Conversations between us and them I hear…- Love is everywhere; in songs, on signs, in text, and in person. It clings to the mind much like a disease and infiltrates all thoughts. …breaks my heart- Love has been let in through the protected barriers. Suppose I…- The possibilities of forever not finding love. The truth is love was recognized and acted upon. Just to break my own fall- In order to keep from low. Love songs have a way to decrease the desire for another person. By exploiting yourself on paper, all fears and hopes, reveals the truths and thus allows freedom of the mind to be satisfied. Therefore no person necessary. All my friends say that of course It’s gonna get better- The heartache will pass.
6. USSR Fidelity is related to Moonlight for the Misbegotten. Josie is afraid of Jim Tyrone’s indiscretions more so than her own lies. She can never “never love nobody fully”. Josie “got lost in the sounds” of her father’s scheme and Tyrone’s love puppy eyes. 8 “The quality of being faithful” “Take Yourself out of The Context”
7. Fleas? My father is use to taking his blood pressure medicine every morning. One morning, my mother laid the dogs’ oral flea tablet on the counter. My father saw the white elongated pill and popped it into his mouth. When my mother went to mix it into the dog food she turned to my father questioning its disappearance. He responded, “I took it, you set it out for me, didn’t you?” Good news, my father no longer has fleas! “Take Yourself out of The Context”
8. Fleas? Humor is healthy. It releases endorphins into the brain to give the sensation of happiness. Humor extinguishes anger and sadness. Humor is also productive. It enables people to look at something from another perspective. In the classroom humor allows one to “break the ice” with other classmates. Providing a comic relief from the serious discussions. Comic relief is just that, allowing a person release from the daunting reality, through humor. This can be just as valuable outside of the classroom. “Take Yourself out of The Context”
9. Dig Deeper Watson “The Queen of Crime” Well Known Works Agatha Christie Murder on the Orient Express ABC Murders And then there were none 2 Christie likes a reoccurrence in the majority of her novels, which is HerculePoirot. Hercule is the lead crime investigator. He does his method of work alone, but has help from his friends. Poirot is much older than most main detective characters, at least near late sixties. A grumpy old man, but witty nonetheless. Agatha Christie is worth showcasing due to her talent to think ahead of the audience. The reader is unable to guess the outcome of the murder because of all the turn of events. Christie provides all the details of the murder, however, it is hard to decipher who, when, where, why and how. First a crime is to be committed, which needs to be mapped out. Next a detective is to unravel the crime in a life-like fashion. The author nor characters can foreshadow the plot. The amount of elements that are in procession are more complex than other genres, Several films were produced based on the titles above. Her love of crime gave more to others than she could have possibly imagined. Mystery is what enticed me to begin reading. “Take Yourself out of The Context”
