                         Interactive Whiteboard Demonstration

Upon the completion of this lesson, you should be able to
   - Calibrate a monitor
   - Manage the floating tool
   - Open the notebook software
   - Write, erase, and save notebook file
   - Recognize a text or shape
   - Find and add a theme
   - Find, add, and comment on an image file
   - Use a magic tool
   - Insert a shape
   - Create animation effect

       software” (It is a 30 day trial version; it may take about 30 minutes to install)

                         Instructional Video Assignment (30 pt)

Due: November 3, 2010 (for group A, B, C, D, E)
     November 10, 2010 (for group F)

1. Objectives:
   - To demonstrate your skills to use SMART Notebook
   - To present your knowledge about effective use of interactive tools

2. Procedures
      a. Think of a lesson that you want to teach using an interactive whiteboard
         (You may want to review the Alabama Course of Study for this activity:
         http://alex.state.al.us/browseStand.php)
      b. Describe the goals of your lesson
      c. Would the use of an interactive whiteboard help students meet the goals of
         your lesson? (If your answer is “Yes,” proceed to the next step; if not, think of
         another lesson)
      d. Download and install the SMART Notebook
      e. Go to the SMART Board website and search lesson examples
         http://exchange.smarttech.com/index.html#tab=0
      f. If you want, you can also Google lesson examples

      g. You can modify or create a SMART Notebook. It should
               i. Slide 1: Include the title slide (the title of the lesson and your name)
              ii. Slide 2: Include the goal of your video (e.g., the purpose of this video
                  is to….)
             iii. Include three to eight slides for your lesson
             iv. Final slide: Review your lesson (e.g., In this lesson, we learn…)
      h. Find a website, video or any other learning materials that are related to your
          lesson. For example, if you are teaching about solar systems, you can find a
          website that allows students to manipulate planets or you can find a video
          from TeacherTube.
      i. Practice your lesson (You may want to write down script for this activity)
      j. Record your lesson (You may want to use “SMART recorder”)
      k. Upload a) your video, b) SMART Notebook file, and c) any additional
          materials (e.g., instructional sheets) to Blackboard Assignments SMART
          Board
3. Evaluation
      a. Requirements
          o The video should be designed to help students review (or preview) a
              lesson learned (will be learned) in the classroom (Selection of the topic is
              important!)
          o The audience can be your students or parents
          o The video should be about three to six minutes
          o You should create or modify five to ten SMART Notebook slides
          o You should include at least one additional resource (e.g., video, website)
          o You should demonstrate your skills to use SMART Notebook (use pen,
              erase, magic tool, etc—Do not just read; interact with the software)
      b. Evaluation criteria
