4. Thesis Statements/Research Question
O Thesis Statement [taking a stand]: Factories and
automobiles are two major sources of carbon emissions.
Clean energy needs to be promoted to encourage
reduction of air pollution and CO2 gases. Revision:
O I looked at some ways to revise my statement and two I
chose were narrow my research question and reorganize
my phrasing. I found that I was using very broad terms,
and needed to narrow and focus to find relevant sources

5. Search Statement
O Search Statement: Create examples of two fully
developed statements. Must include Boolean operators
AND and OR with synonyms. Optional to include other
search techniques [truncation, quotes etc] Try one of your
searches in Academic Search Premier [or Proquest] and
also report total number of results. 10 pts.

6. Database Description
O Database selection: research the entire collection of
RHC databases. Choose one database that you would
use for this topic and justify why in a paragraph [this can
be any of our RHC databases -- do not use web
databases or databases from other schools or libraries]
15 pts.

7. Evaluation of Research Process
See charts, pp 44- in Information Literacy User’s Guide.

charts to explain what your revisions are [or would be if fully
developing the topic]
