HOT ISSUE
교외 접속 서비스 솔루션 교체
우리 대학에서 구독하는 학술 데이터베이스, 전자저널 등의 전자정보원
은 교내 뿐만 아니라 교외의 어느 곳에서나 학술정보관 홈페이지 로그인
만으로 자유롭게 이용할 수 있습니다. 2011년 9월, 새롭게 제공되는 서
비스는 기존의 서비스가 지니고 있던 별도의 Active-X 프로그램 설치, 모
바일 기기에서의 호환성 문제와 같은 이용자 불편을 해소하고 다양
한 OS와 웹 브라우저 환경을 지원합니다. 교외에서 전자정보원을 이용
하기 위해서는 학술정보관 홈페이 지 로그인 후 이용하고자 하는 전자정
보원 페이지(Databases, E-Journals, E-Books) 를 선택한 뒤 교내에서와 마찬가지로 해당 서
비스를 이용하면 됩니다.
2011년 신규 전자정보원 선정 및 구독
학술정보관에서는 우리 대학의 연구활동을 지원하기 위하여 2011년
기준, 11종의 학술데이터베이스와 약 7,800여 종의 학술지를 구독하
고 있습니다. 2011년도에는 우리 대학의 주요 연구 분야이지만 자료
확충이 부족했던 분야와 신규 임용된 교수님의 연구분야를 지원할
수 있는 학술지가 중점적으로 추가되었습니다. 특히 학술대회 논문들
을 통합적으로 검색할 수 있는 ‘Conference Proceedings Citation
Index(CPCI)’를 신규 서비스하게 되었습니다. 이 데이터베이스를 통
해 우리 대학 연구진들은 대표적인 학술DB인 Web of Science 플랫
폼에서 SCI급 학술지 논문과 학술대회 논문을 통합적으로 검색할 수
있으며 논문 간의 인용 관계를 파악하여 영향력 높은 연구 결과를 손쉽게 알 수 있습니다. 신
규 전자정보원은 매년 여름방학에 실시하는 전자정보원 수요조사 결과를 문헌정보팀에서 검
토하여 선정하고 있습니다. 연구활동에 필요한 자료가 있을 경우 수요조사에 적극 참여하시
기 바랍니다.

HOT ISSUE
신착 도서 전시 코너 신설
신간을 비롯하여 다양한 주제분야의 인기도서들을
학술정보관 1층에 비치하여 이용자들의 접근성을 높
이고 활용이 편리하도록 하였습니다. 또한 전 주제
의 만화책(Comic Books)을 별도의 서가에 정리하여
1층 잡지코너에 비치하였습니다. 비치된 신간 및 만
화책은 해당 공간에서 간편하게 열람할 수 있으며,
대출을 원할 경우 대출반납기를 통해 대출 처리 후
관외 이용이 가능합니다. 신착도서 전시 코너는 다양한 인테리어 가구 및 소파로 구성된 공
간으로 간단히 책을 읽으며 쉴 수 있는 휴게 공간으로서의 기능도 함께 제공하고 있습니다.
학술정보관 열람석 확충
지속적인 이용자 열람환경 개선 활동의 일환으로 학술정
보관 2층 Information & Learning Commons 환경이 크
게 개선되었습니다. 이곳은 인터넷 검색 및 과제 수행 PC
공간, 개인 스터디 공간, IPTV 시청 공간으로 구성되어 이
용자의 다양한 학습활동을 충족시키는데 중점을 두었습
니다. 우리 대학 열람석 1석 당 학생 수는 2.18명으로 국
내 4년제 대학 평균 5.3명에 비하여 2배 이상, 정보검색용
PC 1식 당 학생 수는 20.5명으로 국내 4년제 대학 평균 81명에 비하여 약 4배 정도 뛰어난
학습 환경을 제공하고 있습니다. 향후 학술정보관에서는 더 나은 열람 서비스 제공을 위해
좌석발급기 사용 장려 및 미발급 사용자 제재, 사석화 방지 캠페인 활동을 지속적으로 추진
할 예정입니다.

UNIST 도서선정위원회는 총장 및 학술정보처장이 임명하는 5인 이상의 교원으로
구성하며, 학술정보관 도서 선정에 관한 주요 사항을 심의합니다.
2011년도 도서선정위원회는 1년 동안 정기 및 부정기적인 회의를 통하여 다음과 같은 사항
을 심의하였습니다. 학술정보 서비스 향상을 위한 위원회의 활동에 감사드립니다.

HOT ISSUE
Change of Off-Campus Access Solution
The electronic resources we currently subscribe to (as of Feb. 2012),
including academic databases and e-journals, are accessible
anywhere, both on and off the campus, simply through logging-in to
the UNIST Library homepage. The newly offered service on
September 2011 was to reduce the inconveniences of existing
services, such as requirement of installing an additional Active-X
program and compatibility problems with mobile devices, and to
support diversified OS and web browsers. In order to use e-resources off campus, log in to
UNIST Library homepage, select the page you want to use among Databases, E-Journals,
and E-Book, and then use the selected service the same as you do on campus.
Selction and Subscription to New e-Resources in 2011
To support research activities in UNIST, the UNIST Library currently
subscribe to 11 academic databases and about 7,800 academic
journals as of 2011. In 2011, new academic journals were added
especially in UNIST's core research areas with insufficient journals and
new professors' research areas. Furthermore, 'Conference
Proceedings Citation Index(CPCI)‘, one of the new services, makes
integrated search for conference proceedings possible. With the
database, in the platform of 'Web of Science', a representative
academic database, our researchers are able to do integrated search of SCI-level articles
and conference proceedings together and to find articles with high research impact easily
using citation relations among articles. New e-resources are selected by the library team
based on the result of e-resources demand survey on every summer vacation.

HOT ISSUE
Open New Arrivals Section
Newly arrived books and popular books in various
categories are located on the 1st floor to increase
accessibility and convenience. Comic books in all
categories are also located in the 1st floor, put in
a separate shelf of the magazines section. New
arrivals and comic books are not only readily
available in the section but also borrowed and used out of the library after checking-out using
self check-out/in machines. New Arrivals section is furnished with diversified furniture and
sofas to function as a relaxation room where users can read books and take a rest
comfortably.
Increase of Seats in Library
A part of continuous attempts to improve the
environment for library users who study has made
progress in the environment of Information & Learning
Commons on the second floor. Focusing on satisfying
users' need for various study activities, the sections are
comprised of a PC zone for searching the internet
and doing assignments, a study zone for studying alone, and an IPTV zone for watching IPTV.
UNIST's students per seat are 2.18, which is more than twice the 5.3 of average university
students per seat in Korea. UNIST's students per PC for searching information is also 20.5,
which is almost 4 times better study environment than the 81 of average university students
per PC in Korea. In the future, the library will keep up effort to better service, by encouraging
the usage of the seat reservation machine, disadvantaging users not using the machine, and
campaigning not to use seats exclusively.

MEMBERSHIP
The Library Committee, which consists of more than 5 faculties appointed by the President
and Chief Information Officer, deliberates on important matters relating to selection of library
books. The committee of 2011 has considered the following at scheduled and unscheduled
meetings during the year. UNIST Library appreciates their activities for the improvement of
academic information services.
