OpenFoodFacts is a crowdsourced database of food product information launched in May 2012 with over 500 contributors and 9000 products. While the data is not public, it provides transparency on products of public interest to help consumers make better choices and evaluate products. Localizing the database remains a challenge, as translation is easy but building local communities is difficult. The presentation encourages participation on the website and workshop to discuss new applications of crowdsourcing.
