Touch screen manufacturers saw substantial revenue increases in 2010 due to rising smartphone shipments and adoption of touchscreens in non-smartphones. Apple iPad, released in 2010, uses high-grade touchscreens and shipped 13.8 million units. Both iPhone and iPad use touchscreens laminated with TFT panels, which are expensive. TPK and Wintek are major suppliers of touchscreens to Apple iPhone and iPad. TPK's shares surged 139% after its IPO on the Taiwan Stock Exchange in October 2010.
