Unit 30-planning and pitching-feedback of
pitch- Survey Monkey
By asking this question I felt
like it will help me decide on
how to improve on my
presentation for future
reference. I agree with the
result that gave me high
quality as I believe it is what
any presentation should be
like however I still believe it
can be majorly improved to
the level of what professional
presentations would be like for
major publishing companies.
By asking this question I felt
like it will help me decide on
how to improve on my
presentation for future
reference. I agree with the
results that I got because I was
indeed missing slides and
needed to include more detail
in order for it to be
presentable and get me a high
recommendation from any
company.
This has helped me as
the feedback suggests
that these points were
what made the pitch
successful and how it
has helped me give a
convincing presentation.
This will also help me
decide on what I should
include and how I will
present it on future
occasions.
This shows that there
are still points on the
mark scheme that I
have not covered
therefore my priority
is to include and
change things around
that will help me
meet the required
criteria that is on the
mark scheme and
make a convincing
presentation.
This result shows that the
detail within my presentation
was acceptable to a degree
that it has enough information
and analysis needed that
would be suitable for a
professional in the publishing
industry therefore I would like
to keep up the same level of
detail in this presentation for
any other future pitch
presentations I may present.
This result helps me as it
shows that my covers are
appealing that the
publishers who reviewed
it would consider using it
as one of their magazine
covers. Therefore, if I
were to create another
magazine cover I would
have to make it at the
same levels for it to be
acceptable.
This result helps me
because it gives me the
feedback needed for me
to improve on my pitch
that in the end I will
hopefully be able to
create another pitch and
include all these points
first time making it a
successful pitch that can
be used in a professional
way.
Witness statement
The witness statement I had received states that the pitch I presented
was very detailed and I as the speaker was able to confidently
communicate the pitch to the audience. This is very helpful to me as
it shows that I am able to convey my ideas to the audience in a
appropriate manner and looking professional while doing so.
Photoshop corrections
Here I have changed the amount of
words being used for the strapline on
top of my magazine. This is to make it
look less compact and more easy to
see what's being featured in the
magazine
Here I have changed the font of
the additional information that
will be featured in the magazine.
This is because the font did not
really match the genre I was
going for therefore I needed to
change it to meet this demand.
Photoshop corrections continued
With this correction I had to
change the size of the twitter logo
as it was not in line with the other
logos for social media.
Here I have gotten rid
of the marker lines and
have given an overview
of the DPS as what it
would look like when it
is published then when
it is in development.
Pitch corrections
For my magazine flat plan I had to include my
magazine front cover and DPS which shows that it is
all good but I had to link it to my chosen magazine.
For this correction I had to include
the colours I was going to use so the
observer can see what they are. This
will make the slide of the
presentation seem more appealing
rather then dull which is what most
of my presentation looks likes.

On the table on the left, these are the basic necessities in starting a magazine
company that are for 9 people. Even though it may be very expensive they are needed
to for the magazine to be successful and to pull in more buyers. Furthermore, as you
can see from the table on the right, the cost of having the staff members on the
editorial team will be a huge dent in the companies budget.
Legal and ethical
• Copyright- is when there is a legal right which lasts for a certain amount of years so you can’t print, publish,
perform, film, or record literary, artistic or musical material that already exists. This means that if I take
images from anyone without their permission I could get prosecuted for plagiarism. This can also be used for
my own benefit as it is a system that protects me from having my own images used for another format
without my permission allowing me to prosecute them and get money from it.
• IPSO- for my magazine, I need to make sure that it follows the editors code and does not breach it. If there is
some material that would be considered commercially sensitive then it needs to be brought to the
regulator's attention so the content can be handled so that it can be seen by the public without concern.
Furthermore, I would need to reframe from including any content that could be considered harassment,
racist or a breach in personal privacy otherwise it can affect the music publisher.
Editors code of practice• Accuracy:
• The Press must take care not to publish inaccurate, misleading or distorted information or images, including
headlines not supported by the text.
• A significant inaccuracy, misleading statement or distortion must be corrected, promptly and with due prominence,
and — where appropriate — an apology published. In cases involving IPSO, due prominence should be as required
by the regulator.
• A fair opportunity to reply to significant inaccuracies should be given, when reasonably called for.
• The Press, while free to editorialise and campaign, must distinguish clearly between comment, conjecture and fact.
• Privacy:
• Everyone is entitled to respect for his or her private and family life, home, health and correspondence, including
digital communications.
• Editors will be expected to justify intrusions into any individual's private life without consent. Account will be taken
of the complainant's own public disclosures of information.
• It is unacceptable to photograph individuals, without their consent, in public or private places where there is a
reasonable expectation of privacy.
The reason why I have to be these things when I am creating an article on an artist is because I as the
writer have the potential to destroy someone's career depending on the way I phrase things or if
someone has a different perspective from me. Therefore, I will need to write down the article in a way
where everyone will be able to understand it and not let there be misunderstanding between the public
and artist which can affect their career on a whole.

Calendar events
• Nothing is happening on this day therefore it is a perfect time to
release the magazine to the public. If it were to be released on a day
with an event on it would restrict sales as people would be more
focused on getting a magazine which would be featuring that event
then getting my magazine which would not.
Risk assessment• Permission- I will need to get the permission of both
the artist as well as the model of the photo to be able
to use the image in my magazine that they have taken
so that if I do use it, I will not be prosecuted for copy
right use and plagiarism. In order to be able to use the
images I had to sign a document saying that the images
will only be used for the magazine and nothing else
otherwise I can be prosecuted for inappropriate use.
• Area assessment- when scouting the location for the
background of the images I will need to take in an
account whether or not it is a safe place to take photos
at. This is because if the model is injured during the
photo-shoot I can be sued for compensation to the
model and potentially loose a lot of money in the
process. That is why it is very important to find a place
where it is safe to take place and not have a chance of
there being a risk of injury. The pace where the photos
were taken was a safe place with no dangerous objects
being around allowing a successfully photo-shoot to
take place
Software risk assessmentResizing an image- when resizing an image hold
down shift and it will allow the image to not
pixelate which can cause the image to look
unprofessional. If you do not do this it can
affect the quality of the image and will have to
repeat the process of resizing your own image.
Eye dropper tool – this will allow you to keep a
consistent colour throughout the magazine and
will allow you to not get a different shade of the
same colour which when printed out can affect
the whole magazine entirely.
Colour swatches- by using colour swatches you
will be able to find the colour you are using
most often very quickly which will help reduce
the chance of getting a different shade of the
colour.
Chosen magazine
I like this magazine style because its colour is very bold and I like how this will be able
to make it more eye pealing to the public where as the other magazine is quite plain
and dull and not very eye catching. The image quality is also much more sharper then
the other magazine which is vital when trying to create a professional style magazine.

Conclusion
• This learning helps to identify the key areas where I am needed
improvements but also shows what areas are good about it and how
it would be acceptable to be used in a professional pitch
presentation. Furthermore, at the end of the PowerPoint it also
identifies what is needed to be included and what it should not
contain in order for it to be legal and to be sold to retailers. If I do not
include this in the magazine then it would be susceptible to being
taken of he shelves and the publisher being prosecuted.

  • 2. Unit 30-planning and pitching-feedback of pitch- Survey Monkey By asking this question I felt like it will help me decide on how to improve on my presentation for future reference. I agree with the result that gave me high quality as I believe it is what any presentation should be like however I still believe it can be majorly improved to the level of what professional presentations would be like for major publishing companies.
  • 3. By asking this question I felt like it will help me decide on how to improve on my presentation for future reference. I agree with the results that I got because I was indeed missing slides and needed to include more detail in order for it to be presentable and get me a high recommendation from any company.
  • 4. This has helped me as the feedback suggests that these points were what made the pitch successful and how it has helped me give a convincing presentation. This will also help me decide on what I should include and how I will present it on future occasions.
  • 5. This shows that there are still points on the mark scheme that I have not covered therefore my priority is to include and change things around that will help me meet the required criteria that is on the mark scheme and make a convincing presentation.
  • 6. This result shows that the detail within my presentation was acceptable to a degree that it has enough information and analysis needed that would be suitable for a professional in the publishing industry therefore I would like to keep up the same level of detail in this presentation for any other future pitch presentations I may present.
  • 7. This result helps me as it shows that my covers are appealing that the publishers who reviewed it would consider using it as one of their magazine covers. Therefore, if I were to create another magazine cover I would have to make it at the same levels for it to be acceptable.
  • 8. This result helps me because it gives me the feedback needed for me to improve on my pitch that in the end I will hopefully be able to create another pitch and include all these points first time making it a successful pitch that can be used in a professional way.
  • 9. Witness statement The witness statement I had received states that the pitch I presented was very detailed and I as the speaker was able to confidently communicate the pitch to the audience. This is very helpful to me as it shows that I am able to convey my ideas to the audience in a appropriate manner and looking professional while doing so.
  • 10. Photoshop corrections Here I have changed the amount of words being used for the strapline on top of my magazine. This is to make it look less compact and more easy to see what's being featured in the magazine Here I have changed the font of the additional information that will be featured in the magazine. This is because the font did not really match the genre I was going for therefore I needed to change it to meet this demand.
  • 11. Photoshop corrections continued With this correction I had to change the size of the twitter logo as it was not in line with the other logos for social media. Here I have gotten rid of the marker lines and have given an overview of the DPS as what it would look like when it is published then when it is in development.
  • 12. Pitch corrections For my magazine flat plan I had to include my magazine front cover and DPS which shows that it is all good but I had to link it to my chosen magazine. For this correction I had to include the colours I was going to use so the observer can see what they are. This will make the slide of the presentation seem more appealing rather then dull which is what most of my presentation looks likes.

Even though it may be very expensive they are needed to for the magazine to be successful and to pull in more buyers. Furthermore, as you can see from the table on the right, the cost of having the staff members on the editorial team will be a huge dent in the companies budget.

Legal and ethical • Copyright- is when there is a legal right which lasts for a certain amount of years so you can’t print, publish, perform, film, or record literary, artistic or musical material that already exists. This means that if I take images from anyone without their permission I could get prosecuted for plagiarism. This can also be used for my own benefit as it is a system that protects me from having my own images used for another format without my permission allowing me to prosecute them and get money from it. • IPSO- for my magazine, I need to make sure that it follows the editors code and does not breach it. If there is some material that would be considered commercially sensitive then it needs to be brought to the regulator's attention so the content can be handled so that it can be seen by the public without concern. Furthermore, I would need to reframe from including any content that could be considered harassment, racist or a breach in personal privacy otherwise it can affect the music publisher.

Editors code of practice• Accuracy: • The Press must take care not to publish inaccurate, misleading or distorted information or images, including headlines not supported by the text. • A significant inaccuracy, misleading statement or distortion must be corrected, promptly and with due prominence, and — where appropriate — an apology published. In cases involving IPSO, due prominence should be as required by the regulator. • A fair opportunity to reply to significant inaccuracies should be given, when reasonably called for. • The Press, while free to editorialise and campaign, must distinguish clearly between comment, conjecture and fact. • Privacy: • Everyone is entitled to respect for his or her private and family life, home, health and correspondence, including digital communications. • Editors will be expected to justify intrusions into any individual's private life without consent. Account will be taken of the complainant's own public disclosures of information. • It is unacceptable to photograph individuals, without their consent, in public or private places where there is a reasonable expectation of privacy. The reason why I have to be these things when I am creating an article on an artist is because I as the writer have the potential to destroy someone's career depending on the way I phrase things or if someone has a different perspective from me.   • 17. Calendar events • Nothing is happening on this day therefore it is a perfect time to release the magazine to the public. If it were to be released on a day with an event on it would restrict sales as people would be more focused on getting a magazine which would be featuring that event then getting my magazine which would not.
  • 18. Risk assessment• Permission- I will need to get the permission of both the artist as well as the model of the photo to be able to use the image in my magazine that they have taken so that if I do use it, I will not be prosecuted for copy right use and plagiarism. In order to be able to use the images I had to sign a document saying that the images will only be used for the magazine and nothing else otherwise I can be prosecuted for inappropriate use. • Area assessment- when scouting the location for the background of the images I will need to take in an account whether or not it is a safe place to take photos at. This is because if the model is injured during the photo-shoot I can be sued for compensation to the model and potentially loose a lot of money in the process. That is why it is very important to find a place where it is safe to take place and not have a chance of there being a risk of injury. The pace where the photos were taken was a safe place with no dangerous objects being around allowing a successfully photo-shoot to take place
  • 19. Software risk assessmentResizing an image- when resizing an image hold down shift and it will allow the image to not pixelate which can cause the image to look unprofessional. If you do not do this it can affect the quality of the image and will have to repeat the process of resizing your own image. Eye dropper tool – this will allow you to keep a consistent colour throughout the magazine and will allow you to not get a different shade of the same colour which when printed out can affect the whole magazine entirely. Colour swatches- by using colour swatches you will be able to find the colour you are using most often very quickly which will help reduce the chance of getting a different shade of the colour.

Chosen magazine I like this magazine style because its colour is very bold and I like how this will be able to make it more eye pealing to the public where as the other magazine is quite plain and dull and not very eye catching. The image quality is also much more sharper then the other magazine which is vital when trying to create a professional style magazine.

Conclusion • This learning helps to identify the key areas where I am needed improvements but also shows what areas are good about it and how it would be acceptable to be used in a professional pitch presentation. Furthermore, at the end of the PowerPoint it also identifies what is needed to be included and what it should not contain in order for it to be legal and to be sold to retailers. If I do not include this in the magazine then it would be susceptible to being taken of he shelves and the publisher being prosecuted.
