2. At what point in the trailer are we told the name of the film? Why is this? In the trailer Transformers (2007) we are told the film name right at the end of the trailer. This is because the idea of a trailer is to get the audience hooked from the start and become interested in the trailer; we are given the name of the film at the end due to the fact that as the company wants to get the audience hooked as much as possible and they want them to want to find out more about the film e.g. the name.
3. Why are we told who is starring in the film? How is this info given to us? During the Transformers (2007) trailer we are not given any names of who is starring in the film, the reason behind this could be for two reasons. 1: as the film is the first in the saga we are not familiar with the cast therefore they show no significance to the narrative at this point. 2: The editors want to focus more on the action rather than advertise the cast. However in the trailer we are given the name of the director twice in the trailer as he is a well know director (Michael Bay)
4. What type of action from the film do we see? From the trailer we see the stereotypical action of guns, futuristic technology and a lot of explosions. It is clear from the codes and conventions that this is a action film with the sub genre of Sci-Fi.
5. What clues does the music give us at to what type of film the trailer is advertising? I feel that in my opinion that the music in this trailer doesn't really advertise the trailers true genre until the end of the trailer. At the start of the trailer if I was just to listen to the trailer soundtrack I would have some expectations of it been related to the genre of “Horror” however towards to end of the trailer the music seems to change to give it more of a Sci-Fi feel as we are given effects such as a crescendo and the echoing effect; also the music seem to build/rise as if some- thing big is about to happen.
6. What can you say about the voice of the person delivering the voiceover? In this trailer there isn't a voiceover however the text/titles that appear on the screen act as a voice over without the audio of a voice. From the text/titles we are shown that the editor has played around with the words a little giving hints to what the film is called e.g. “Will be transformed” also the editor has tried to make the audience feel involved by adding words such as “Our world”
7. How does the speed of what we see compare to watching a clip from a film? Why is this? Does the speed alter through the trailer or stay the same? The speed in the trailer is a lot faster than a clip from the film. This is due to the fact that the editor has edited the clips to show more of the film when advertising it in the trailer and also to portray some tension. The speed alters in the trailer as towards the end of the trailer the clips are edited more faster and seem to be flashing/flickering.
8. What info are we given in the very last frame of the trailer? In the very last frame of the trailer we are given the date of release of this film; this is then transformed into the transformers logo.
