The Most Memorable Experience In High School
My high school years have been a memorable experience for me. Not going to school most days
because i was a victim to being bullied and stayed silent through those times, getting kicked out of
school because my attendance was horrible due to my depression stage and also finding my clear
path into joining the fresh start program in davenport .Being accepted into Fresh start was really a
goal that I was determined to reach .My high school years was a lot of experience for me and I had
many memories going through those years. My mind was determined that I was not going to give
up and I kept pushing until I reached my landmark of being accepted and becoming a student at
fresh start. Each year of high school bad or good really meant so much to me and it was
unforgettable and unexplainable. Going through these events in those years I understand why they
are so memorable to me.
My high school years was very tough for me because I was being bullied in school , being picked
on daily was aggravating which caused me really to skip school almost every week. I would
always try to avoid the bullies. The more I skipped to school to escape them the more problems in
my life I couldn't escape. Depression hit me when I was in the 10th grade I really wanted to give
up on myself .Not only did bullying stress me out it made me hate school so graduating was the last
thing on my mind. I struggled with trying to get myself comfortable with being around more people
in school. Being bullied can

As my Writing 39C course comes to a close, now is a great time to look at the journey I have
taken to get here. I'll start with my high school experience with writing. Although, I wasn't a
terrible writer, I didn't strive to be the best writer I could be. Although I had a decent writing skill,
enough to pass the AP English exam at least, I never really pushed my writing abilities to
anything beyond the minimum amount needed to pass with a decent grade. Once I got to
college, however, writing was a different story. When I came into Writing 39B, I felt it would be
something similar to my experiences in my high school AP English classes. Do the assignments
with a minimal amount of work in order to get a decent grade, and just pass the class. However,
as the course proceeded, I learned that I actually needed to make an effort to apply skill to my
writing in order to do well. This was the first time I actually had to rigorously challenge my
current skills in order to improve. As 39B came to a close, I felt that I had actually improved my
composition skill. Writing 39C was now where I solidified and revised some of the techniques I
learned in 39B, broke some bad habits, and worked to understand my style of writing. Working
through the Historical Conservation Project (HCP) and Advocacy Project (AP), I have pushed
myself to improve my writing skill. Although I have learned a lot throughout this quarters here at
UCI, I want to emphasize three main areas that I have made great strides in: research, drafting, and
revision.
Research
I came into Writing 39C with some formal lessons on how to research, mainly from high school.
However, since I was taught those lessons years ago, I came into Writing 39C with a clear head.
My primary research focus throughout the quarter was on copyright law and how the current law is
out of touch with the Internet age. I got this idea from a course I took in the previous quarter. The
course was on cyberspeech and gaming, with a focus on obscenity laws and, the thing I found most
interesting, copyright and fair use. Given my interest in the topic and slight familiarity, I chose to
tackle the problem of copyright law and fair use. Starting my research, I immediately went to

My Experience In Secondary School
Secondary school has been an unrelenting path. These four years of secondary school have had their
excitements and their downfalls. My life had transformed into one that no individual could ever
envision persevering through, an experience so unpleasant that it changed my philosophy and point
of view.
On September second, 2014, my grandfather passed away from a heart attack. He was a
cherishing grandparent as well as a great motivator. He used to tell me "I see so much potential in
you," and that is something I held on to all my life. Not only did my grandfather leave my family
and me with an immense ethos, yet additionally left us with an extraordinary measure of
dissatisfaction. In the meantime, with all this happening I had issues of my own in school. My
marks were at their most minimal, and I was attempting my best to bring them back up. I was never
too bright in subjects, for instance, Math or science. Regardless, that was an issue that I expected to
oversee by stressing less and augment more in my studies. I decided to implement many techniques
to help me focus in my studies; I tried to put my phone face down so I can become less distracted
although, every time I hear a buzz and see a glimpse of the screen light up I feel tempted to unlock
my phone and see the notification. I kept on attempting different strategies to enable me to succeed
in focusing on my studies, yet nothing made a difference. I reached a point where I sold my
electronic devices such as my phone

Compare and Contrast Essay
If you ask my parents about me they will say that I am talkative, loud, sometimes shy, and of
course a little obnoxious. I had my parents answer five questions about me and their high school
experiences. The first question was: What do you see as your child's greatest strengths or skills
overall? My dad wrote " Gabbie is a very determined individual. Even though things don't always
come easy for her, she tries over and over again, until she's got it. ".My mom wrote " Gabbie is
kind, caring, and compassionate. She is always willing to help others and has a big heart. She is
dedicated and puts all her effort into accomplishing challenges. " . Question number two was:
What do you hope your child says about his/her experience in school this year? My dad wrote " I
hope that Gabbie learns skills that she can take out into the work field. Although, I want her to have
fun and make memories. " . My mom wrote " My hope is that Gabbie says that her freshman year of
high school is full of learning experiences, life lessons, and unforgettable. ". The third question
was : What was your experience like in high school? My dad wrote " I couldn't wait until school
got out and hang out with my friends. I thought school was about what group you were with and I
later found out that wasn't important. " . My mom wrote " I was part of a very small class in high
school. We were a very close class and we also had great relationships with our teachers. I have

My Experience In The High School Experience
Unique qualities in prospective students are difficult to find when people standardize the high
school experience. Everyone has same tests, everyone has a similar curriculum, and everyone has
the same activities. If a student is competitive in the college application process, they usually
participate in clubs, take AP classes, or play sports. I don't do sports, nor am I a stellar athlete. I
have done numerous clubs, extracurricular activities, abroad experiences, and honor societies; taken
plenty of AP classes, earned awards, and have a stellar academic record, but I am not all too different
than other competitive college applications.
Students from the local math and science school provide intimidating competition, making the
application process seem daunting, leaving me feeling smothered by their credentials in comparison
because I'm not consumed with academics. However, because I did not go to the most advanced
school or take the most advanced math pathway, I know I can bring something unique to the
Knoxville campus. I know I can provide something other than the standard. I would be valuable
because I remain balanced as a student while starting new programs and opportunities, something
evident by my high school experiences. I turn a small window for success into something important,
redefining the existing standardized ideals– something imperative to growing a program or school.
I wasn't focused on being the best student from day one of elementary school, but

My High School Experience Essay
When people start high school they're usually so excited. They can't wait to experience
everything that comes with being in high school, I mean who wouldn't? Everyone says that high
school is the best four years of your life. Now that I'm months away from graduating, I can't say
they were my best years but I can say they were my most educational years, of course I wouldn't
say that they weren't fun because they were. When I say educational, I mean I've learned so much
about myself and so much about life. I learned what the words family, love, betrayal, law and life
meant. All these events changed me, and I'm glad they happened because I wouldn't have learned all
these lessons. My personality hasn't changed; I'm still a carefree girl,...show more content...
My freshmen and sophomore year, I had my first real boyfriend. I was completely and totally in
love with this guy, he changed me in ways that I'm proud of and ways that I'm not proud of. I
revolved my world around him, which wasn't a good idea. After almost two years of dating, we
broke up and it literally shattered my world. During our relationship I became friends with his
friends and I even considered one of them my best friends, so when we broke up I didn't only
loose him, I lost all of them as well. It felt so awful to all of a sudden have everything, and then
just lose everything in a day. A couple of weeks later, I found out that my best friend was actually
dating my ex boyfriend. I couldn't believe that a person could betray someone like that, especially
after everything that she and I went through together. I'm not proud of the events that happened
after all of this, and I'm not proud of how I let them change me. The one thing that saved me was
my family; they saved me in ways I can't even explain. They gave me hope and a new life for me
that I am extremely grateful for. I've learned to be wiser when it comes to picking friends, and
choosing who to put my trust in. I also became a stronger person, I don't let people walk all over
me or I don't let people control my life anymore. The last event is the one that taught me the most
about how hard life is, and how life isn't always fair. My junior year was spent in Tijuana,

My High School Journey
At the beginning of my high school journey, it was scary. Just the thought of a new school,
meeting new people, and the fact that this would be my last years before becoming an "adult" and
getting closer to college, was unbelievable, yet scary. My high school journey had many ups and
down. These ups and downs vary because I experienced them in my academics and socially. I can't
forget that I learned a lot and met many different personalities, with people whom I trust and had
many great times. Also as growing up throughout high school, I'm slowly seeing who I am. I know
this is not the end of life, just a great piece of my life will end and everything will soon change
again. I can give so many advices to just start off great at the beginning of anyone's high school
journey. I think it's important to join clubs, activities,or sports so you can meet new people. It's
important to surround yourself with people who will take their education seriously because at the
end of high school, you will see how far you got by being surrounded with positive people and
that's a benefit because you concentrate and achieve excellent grades and that leads to good
colleges. Also, joining more clubs and participating looks great with your cap and gown at the
graduation! Another advice is do NOT procrastinate, I have done it so many times and it sucks to
sleep late and wake up early and by doing so, you avoid stress which is a pain in the butt. Do your
homework, get good grades, and ask

The High School Experience Essay
The High School Experience
The high school experience is something that will forever dominate the psyche of most American
adults. It was an unforgettable time of fun, rebel–rousing, summer loves and parties. It was a time of
warm summer days at the pool and chilly autumn nights, watching the football team and wondering
were the party was going to be that night. School dances and hotel parties. Seems like all I can
remember are the good times. High School is a very emotional time for many teens and everything
matters. The insidious problems that I had to face are but a smudge on my memory, things like too
much homework, zits, mean people, gossip, and algebra. The social atmosphere that permeated
every aspect of high school could...show more content...
"The Breakfast Club" characterizes this phenomena by depicting the "jock, the brain, the basketcase,
the princess, and the juvenile delinquent". In the movie each character is representative of the social
class to which they belong. The "jock" signifies the sports star that can do no wrong, but the movie
character bullies another boy and when caught all he received was detention. Although on the other
hand the delinquent who is a dope smoking, foul mouthed punk, received the same punishment for
talking back to a teacher. Administrators and teachers are very quick to meet out severe punishment
to those students that they have deemed worthless, while good kids get a slap on the wrist. The
movie's jock is placed in Saturday detention, instead of being suspended, so that he may wrestle in an
upcoming tournament; a case in which Hollywood makes an accurate depiction. This is the "holding
of power" that Wehlage and Rutter spoke about in their study, High School and Beyond. Students
who receive better treatment seem to do better in school when subjected to "an orderly environment,
a committed and caring faculty, and an emphasis on academic pursuits"(Nieto,100).
The movie goes on to compare and contrast the "princess" and the "basketcase", both seventeen year
old girls who endeavor male attention, yet one is the cool crowd prom queen and the other is the
loser, burnout crowd weirdo. Brian, the narrating brain, is a

I never truly had a high school experience, sure I had a dozen or so friends, but my relationships
with them lacked depth. We may have seen each other on the weekends and laughed at each other's
jokes, but in the end it was entirely meaningless. We had almost nothing in common besides the
fact that we attended the same school. The only reason I had made friends with them in the first
place was simply out of necessity, after all, no one wants to be that kid that sits alone at the lunch
table. Had we not become friends, each one of us would have been that kid.
Most of my friends weren't academically gifted, not through any fault of their own, after all, they
were always busy with their egos. I was a different case entirely, I had an extreme lack of confidence
in almost anything I had done, and they didn't help my situation. During my stay in high school, I
didn't genuinely apply myself. Teachers would consistently tell me about how much my grades
would improve if I simply attend classes regularly in body and spirit. I always shrugged them off
and figured that as long as I skirt the line, I'd be fine. I thought to myself, "After all, I had passed
through school all these years using the same method, so why wouldn't it work now?"
Despite my low attendance and lack of effort, teachers still enjoyed my presence and would always
say that the few times that I was at their class, I added a lot to their lessons. I considered these
teachers my true friends, not my fellow

My First Week Of High School Essays
First week of high school Fun, scaring, exciting are the feelings of my first week of school. This
is a brand new experience of my life having to leave my friends and teachers in middle school
behind. New school, new friends and new teachers are all part of this new school year. This one is
different though, it's the first week of high school. Most freshmen like me that enter the school are
scared. I think the first week of the school is the easiest since there would not be a lot of

people well in the class. But I am wrong, as soon as you get seated on your assigned seat, new

My Experience At High School Essay
High School: A time in our lives that sets the mold for who we are going to be in this world. It
does this by teaching us great lessons about life, ourselves, and other people through various
experiences. One of these experiences I chose to take part in was football. It was this decision
that led me to this fateful day. A day in which my left leg was shattered and my perspectives on
life were drastically changed. The journey I had embark on to deal with all of the after effects of
this event taught me life lessons I'll never forget. It was October 24th, 2014. This date fell on a
Friday and during football season that meant it was game day for most high school teams. Not
just any game though, it was our district championship. I remember it all like it was yesterday.
The smell of the fresh cut grass was so satisfying and the grass itself was even more delightful to
see on the field. The atmosphere was phenomenal. Both cheer squads were screaming their chants.
Fans and parents alike were yelling and clapping. My shoulder pads were fastened tight around
my ribs and shoulders. The adrenaline was flowing through my veins. My mind was prepared for
the game but not what was about to befall me. This is where the story starts to spiral downwards. It
was about five minutes into the first quarter and we ran up the middle. I was the designated lead
blocker. I lunged at the linebacker full force and knocked him down. I had so much momentum
going towards him that I went straight to the

Essay on Attending High School
High School
Do you remember your high school days? High school
for me has proved to be a learning experience and also a
challenge. There are many lessons that can be learned.
You can learn more about yourself, who your friends are,
what kind of help is offered to you, and what your
strengths and your weaknesses are. Attending
High School helped build my confidence because my
classmates were supportive, my teachers taught me how to
study for tests, and the math tutors helped me overcome
my fear of math.
My classmates were supportive in many ways. I used
to attend study groups for the subjects that I was
struggling in. In these meetings with each other,we
would study our notes and review...show more content...
Most students would wait until the last
minute to study and try to cram all the information on a
test in one night. But my teachers stressed that studying
a little bit at a time would be the best way to go about
learning the material. Another way they tried to provoke
studying would be by telling us to study in a group.
This method worked, but the method that I found that
helped me the most was by using flash cards. It was a
good way of studying especially for a test that had lots
of definitions on it. But I found it much easier to look at
a single piece of information instead of a whole page of
notes at one time. Overall, teachers do not just teach you
the facts from the books. They can help you sharpen your
study skills by showing you new ways of learning.
Lastly, the tutors at the school helped me to overcome my
biggest fear and that was math. They helped me realize
that if you take math one step at a time, it will be a
lot easier than trying to learn it all at once. The
tutors also made it easier for me by teaching me to
relate math to something I enjoy. A simple example would be
if you were having problems with percents. And they would
tell you to relate it to something like when you go shopping
and clothes have a certain discount. It carries the same
principle. And this method can help you overcome a fear

My High School Experience
My high school experience could be compared to a roller coaster. At times, it seemed to only go
down––with no tracks into the future. Other times there were unexpected twists and turns where
all I could do was hold on for dear life and see where the ride would take me. Sometimes the crazy
roller coaster ride ended abruptly while other times the ride seemed everlasting, never allowing me
to catch a breath. Unlike a roller coaster, I can't go back and ride again, so I have to make the most
of what I've got and move forward with a positive attitude into the future.
The experiences throughout my life have definitely changed me and helped me overcome many
weaknesses. While in high school, I was committed to every club, sport, job and activity I was
involved in. The downside of being so involved was juggling all of my commitments as well as
my schoolwork. School never came easy to me, and I really struggled staying organized. During
my sophomore year, my brother was diagnosed with several health conditions which required my
mom and brother to be out of town for most of my sophomore year. During that time, I learned how
to manage my time as well as take care of myself. The life skills I learned during that time will most
definitely help me during my college experience. The learning and organizational techniques I
learned during that time will help me with the rigorous college classes I am planning on taking. I am
thankful for this experience because I learned these important techniques that helped me become a
successful student.
As a student athlete and captain on the Seymour Varsity Dance Team at Seymour Community
High School, I have received amazing support from my family, school, and coaches allowing me
to achieve my goals in athletics and academics. I have always appreciated the opportunities to
succeed as well as help fellow team mates to reveal the potential as dancers. Becoming a captain
on the Seymour Varsity Dance Team also helped me develop as a leader and hone my
organizational skills. By working my hardest during and outside of practice, I earned an award for
being the most improved on the team. Being on the team helped me realize that there's always skills
that I can improve on in and off the dance

especially those who are able to recieve one. I interviewed two people about their after high school

their responses. Most people that come out of college are successful. Study show that people that

They might not have the patience for it, they may not find it suitable for them, or maybe just the
simple fact that it's THEIR decision in the first place. People that take up trades end up making
more money than those with degrees. For example, plumbers, mechanics, construction workers,
and even garbagemen. For my second interview, I was able to talk to my cousin Joshua who
didn't go to college, but is a successful construction site worker. My first question was, why didn't
you go to college? He says, "School wasn't for me, it was never my thing". I then asked him, do
you think you needed college? His reply was, "No, because to me, college is just more money
being spent, and the plain fact that even some people with a degree isn't making as much as me
right now". Some people never went to college and still succeed more than people with a college

Throughout my first year of high school, I participated in the Gull Lake High School Marching
Band. This was something I looked forward to for the entirety of middle school, and finally being
able to experience it myself was better than I could have imagined. It is a privilege to learn and play
an instrument, especially from so many kind, experienced instructors that teach us students through
band camp each year and summer practices at school. The sheer amount of physical and mental work
marching band requires is enough to make any person wonder how 150 teenagers are able to handle
it; however, the bond that is formed between band members is unlike any other I have experienced.
The long competitions, tiring rehearsals, and difficult music and drill is beyond worth the incredible
feeling of putting on the marching show and witnessing the impact it has on our community.
It is vital to have somebody in your life that supports your endeavors, beliefs, and who stands by you
in times of hardship. Mr. Branden Burris, my high school band director, has proven to be an
enormous impact on my life, and having him to lead our ensemble makes the entire marching band
experience one I will cherish for many years to come.

As mentioned above, the act of combining my love for music and marching drill is something I
feel grateful to do. It is a great privilege to affect others' lives by playing an

Life After High School
I've just entered my senior year of high school. I know that this is a very important year. I have a
lot of decisions to make and not much time to make them. These decisions will either make or
break my life, and I want to make sure that I make them to the best of my ability because there is
no turning back. I need to make sure I definitely want to attend college. The decision is totally up to
me. There are many positives and negatives of attending college. Go over them, and then decide. I
know myself better then anyone else, and I won't let anyone else tell me what to do. I will make
sure if I am going to attend college that I have something in mind that I will want to do, to succeed in.

I knew I wanted to do this because I was very interested in sports my whole life. It wasn't an easy
decision in choosing a school, but I think I made the best choice based on my major right now. In
a short essay "College? What's in It for me?" by Steven M. Richardson, the author makes some very
good points about college. Richardson states that there are a lot of reasons to not attend college, but
furthermore states that attending college is your best bet at succeeding in life. Richardson states
"The biggest reason for not going, probably, is that college costs money" (169). On the other hand,
he states, "The decision to attend college is an investment in your future–a risk, certainly, but one
with a big payoff if it's the right decision for you" (171). These are the things I had to think about
along with millions of high school–students before making my decision on what I wanted to do with
my life. Choosing a college is only the first part of the decision making process. What I want to do
for the rest of your life is the question that the majority of high school students will ponder. As
Richardson states, choosing a college as well as choosing a major is definitely an investment. The
way you handle that investment is up to you. If you handle it correctly your investment will pay off
immensely in the end (171). This is why I chose Athletic Training as my major.

In my first year of high school, I overcame my anxiety of being independent. All my life since the
elementary school, there had always been someone telling me exactly what I should be doing,
where I should be going, what needs to be done, and how to get things done. This was especially
apparent in elementary and middle school. Students walk together in an assembly, go to lunch as a
class, play together during recess, have interactive conversations, and pack up together at the end of
the day. Eventually, high school started and everything changed. I was expected to become

I struggled to find my classes and eventually ended up asking for help from several different

tardier than I already was. I eventually did find my classes and I remember the relief of seeing the
door numbers matching the numbers on my schedule. Unlike middle school where students were
grouped together, navigating through high school was a significant difference.
On the first day of freshmen year, lunch period was the most confusing time of day. First off, I
didn't have any idea where the lunch room was and my classmates were going in different
directions, which didn't help me at all. Apparently, different classes have different lunch periods,
meaning it wasn't definite if I would see my friends. And once I got into the cafeteria, I didn't
even know where to stand for the lunch line. In elementary and middle school, there was only one
line with one line of food choice. But here I saw four different lines with different food choices.
After a moment of confusion, I did end up getting my food and finding a place to sit. I didn't even
worry about finding my friends since I saw several people not paying attention to anyone either. I
saw many people who didn't even get lunches and that humored me. I just thought to myself they
didn't know which line to get in and were probably more confused than I. The noise

My Greatest Accomplishment In High School
A Found Friend I thought I knew everything about high school then I met Da'kevus Arceneaux.
Well it was 7 o'clock in Ms. Phyllis's English 1 first hour when De'kevus Arceneaux smoothly

school changed him and helped him grow and he answered with a bright smile and clear answers.
Speaking with De'kevus, I learned more about the high school experience, coming of age and
making future plans. Da'kevus had a very good experience when it came to sports and academics.
I asked Da'kevus, "What was your biggest accomplishment in high school and how did you
accomplish it". Da'kevus answered "My biggest accomplishment is where I am now, my senior year,
you must stay focused and do what you need to do to get where you want to be.". Da'kevus excelled
very well in Track and Cross Country. Da'kevus said : I ran track because i love running.". Now I
know more about Carencro High school, I also learned more about Cross country. Da'kevus has

Essay On High School Experience

  • 1. The Most Memorable Experience In High School My high school years have been a memorable experience for me. Not going to school most days because i was a victim to being bullied and stayed silent through those times, getting kicked out of school because my attendance was horrible due to my depression stage and also finding my clear path into joining the fresh start program in davenport .Being accepted into Fresh start was really a goal that I was determined to reach .My high school years was a lot of experience for me and I had many memories going through those years. My mind was determined that I was not going to give up and I kept pushing until I reached my landmark of being accepted and becoming a student at fresh start. Each year of high school bad or good really meant so much to me and it was unforgettable and unexplainable. Going through these events in those years I understand why they are so memorable to me. My high school years was very tough for me because I was being bullied in school , being picked on daily was aggravating which caused me really to skip school almost every week. I would always try to avoid the bullies. The more I skipped to school to escape them the more problems in my life I couldn't escape. Depression hit me when I was in the 10th grade I really wanted to give up on myself .Not only did bullying stress me out it made me hate school so graduating was the last thing on my mind. I struggled with trying to get myself comfortable with being around more people in school. Being bullied can Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. As my Writing 39C course comes to a close, now is a great time to look at the journey I have taken to get here. I'll start with my high school experience with writing. Although, I wasn't a terrible writer, I didn't strive to be the best writer I could be. Although I had a decent writing skill, enough to pass the AP English exam at least, I never really pushed my writing abilities to anything beyond the minimum amount needed to pass with a decent grade. Once I got to college, however, writing was a different story. When I came into Writing 39B, I felt it would be something similar to my experiences in my high school AP English classes. Do the assignments with a minimal amount of work in order to get a decent grade, and just pass the class. However, as the course proceeded, I learned that I actually needed to make an effort to apply skill to my writing in order to do well. This was the first time I actually had to rigorously challenge my current skills in order to improve. As 39B came to a close, I felt that I had actually improved my composition skill. Writing 39C was now where I solidified and revised some of the techniques I learned in 39B, broke some bad habits, and worked to understand my style of writing. Working through the Historical Conservation Project (HCP) and Advocacy Project (AP), I have pushed myself to improve my writing skill. Although I have learned a lot throughout this quarters here at UCI, I want to emphasize three main areas that I have made great strides in: research, drafting, and revision. Research I came into Writing 39C with some formal lessons on how to research, mainly from high school. However, since I was taught those lessons years ago, I came into Writing 39C with a clear head. My primary research focus throughout the quarter was on copyright law and how the current law is out of touch with the Internet age. I got this idea from a course I took in the previous quarter. The course was on cyberspeech and gaming, with a focus on obscenity laws and, the thing I found most interesting, copyright and fair use. Given my interest in the topic and slight familiarity, I chose to tackle the problem of copyright law and fair use. Starting my research, I immediately went to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. My Experience In Secondary School Secondary school has been an unrelenting path. These four years of secondary school have had their excitements and their downfalls. My life had transformed into one that no individual could ever envision persevering through, an experience so unpleasant that it changed my philosophy and point of view. On September second, 2014, my grandfather passed away from a heart attack. He was a cherishing grandparent as well as a great motivator. He used to tell me "I see so much potential in you," and that is something I held on to all my life. Not only did my grandfather leave my family and me with an immense ethos, yet additionally left us with an extraordinary measure of dissatisfaction. In the meantime, with all this happening I had issues of my own in school. My marks were at their most minimal, and I was attempting my best to bring them back up. I was never too bright in subjects, for instance, Math or science. Regardless, that was an issue that I expected to oversee by stressing less and augment more in my studies. I decided to implement many techniques to help me focus in my studies; I tried to put my phone face down so I can become less distracted although, every time I hear a buzz and see a glimpse of the screen light up I feel tempted to unlock my phone and see the notification. I kept on attempting different strategies to enable me to succeed in focusing on my studies, yet nothing made a difference. I reached a point where I sold my electronic devices such as my phone Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. High School Experiences Compare and Contrast Essay If you ask my parents about me they will say that I am talkative, loud, sometimes shy, and of course a little obnoxious. I had my parents answer five questions about me and their high school experiences. The first question was: What do you see as your child's greatest strengths or skills overall? My dad wrote " Gabbie is a very determined individual. Even though things don't always come easy for her, she tries over and over again, until she's got it. ".My mom wrote " Gabbie is kind, caring, and compassionate. She is always willing to help others and has a big heart. She is dedicated and puts all her effort into accomplishing challenges. " . Question number two was: What do you hope your child says about his/her experience in school this year? My dad wrote " I hope that Gabbie learns skills that she can take out into the work field. Although, I want her to have fun and make memories. " . My mom wrote " My hope is that Gabbie says that her freshman year of high school is full of learning experiences, life lessons, and unforgettable. ". The third question was : What was your experience like in high school? My dad wrote " I couldn't wait until school got out and hang out with my friends. I thought school was about what group you were with and I later found out that wasn't important. " . My mom wrote " I was part of a very small class in high school. We were a very close class and we also had great relationships with our teachers. I have Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. My Experience In The High School Experience Unique qualities in prospective students are difficult to find when people standardize the high school experience. Everyone has same tests, everyone has a similar curriculum, and everyone has the same activities. If a student is competitive in the college application process, they usually participate in clubs, take AP classes, or play sports. I don't do sports, nor am I a stellar athlete. I have done numerous clubs, extracurricular activities, abroad experiences, and honor societies; taken plenty of AP classes, earned awards, and have a stellar academic record, but I am not all too different than other competitive college applications. Students from the local math and science school provide intimidating competition, making the application process seem daunting, leaving me feeling smothered by their credentials in comparison because I'm not consumed with academics. However, because I did not go to the most advanced school or take the most advanced math pathway, I know I can bring something unique to the Knoxville campus. I know I can provide something other than the standard. I would be valuable because I remain balanced as a student while starting new programs and opportunities, something evident by my high school experiences. I turn a small window for success into something important, redefining the existing standardized ideals– something imperative to growing a program or school. I wasn't focused on being the best student from day one of elementary school, but Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. My High School Experience Essay When people start high school they're usually so excited. They can't wait to experience everything that comes with being in high school, I mean who wouldn't? Everyone says that high school is the best four years of your life. Now that I'm months away from graduating, I can't say they were my best years but I can say they were my most educational years, of course I wouldn't say that they weren't fun because they were. When I say educational, I mean I've learned so much about myself and so much about life. I learned what the words family, love, betrayal, law and life meant. All these events changed me, and I'm glad they happened because I wouldn't have learned all these lessons. My personality hasn't changed; I'm still a carefree girl,...show more content... My freshmen and sophomore year, I had my first real boyfriend. I was completely and totally in love with this guy, he changed me in ways that I'm proud of and ways that I'm not proud of. I revolved my world around him, which wasn't a good idea. After almost two years of dating, we broke up and it literally shattered my world. During our relationship I became friends with his friends and I even considered one of them my best friends, so when we broke up I didn't only loose him, I lost all of them as well. It felt so awful to all of a sudden have everything, and then just lose everything in a day. A couple of weeks later, I found out that my best friend was actually dating my ex boyfriend. I couldn't believe that a person could betray someone like that, especially after everything that she and I went through together. I'm not proud of the events that happened after all of this, and I'm not proud of how I let them change me. The one thing that saved me was my family; they saved me in ways I can't even explain. They gave me hope and a new life for me that I am extremely grateful for. I've learned to be wiser when it comes to picking friends, and choosing who to put my trust in. I also became a stronger person, I don't let people walk all over me or I don't let people control my life anymore. The last event is the one that taught me the most about how hard life is, and how life isn't always fair. My junior year was spent in Tijuana, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. My High School Journey At the beginning of my high school journey, it was scary. Just the thought of a new school, meeting new people, and the fact that this would be my last years before becoming an "adult" and getting closer to college, was unbelievable, yet scary. My high school journey had many ups and down. These ups and downs vary because I experienced them in my academics and socially. I can't forget that I learned a lot and met many different personalities, with people whom I trust and had many great times. Also as growing up throughout high school, I'm slowly seeing who I am. I know this is not the end of life, just a great piece of my life will end and everything will soon change again. I can give so many advices to just start off great at the beginning of anyone's high school journey. I think it's important to join clubs, activities,or sports so you can meet new people. It's important to surround yourself with people who will take their education seriously because at the end of high school, you will see how far you got by being surrounded with positive people and that's a benefit because you concentrate and achieve excellent grades and that leads to good colleges. Also, joining more clubs and participating looks great with your cap and gown at the graduation! Another advice is do NOT procrastinate, I have done it so many times and it sucks to sleep late and wake up early and by doing so, you avoid stress which is a pain in the butt. Do your homework, get good grades, and ask Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. The High School Experience Essay The High School Experience The high school experience is something that will forever dominate the psyche of most American adults. It was an unforgettable time of fun, rebel–rousing, summer loves and parties. It was a time of warm summer days at the pool and chilly autumn nights, watching the football team and wondering were the party was going to be that night. School dances and hotel parties. Seems like all I can remember are the good times. High School is a very emotional time for many teens and everything matters. The insidious problems that I had to face are but a smudge on my memory, things like too much homework, zits, mean people, gossip, and algebra. The social atmosphere that permeated every aspect of high school could...show more content... "The Breakfast Club" characterizes this phenomena by depicting the "jock, the brain, the basketcase, the princess, and the juvenile delinquent". In the movie each character is representative of the social class to which they belong. The "jock" signifies the sports star that can do no wrong, but the movie character bullies another boy and when caught all he received was detention. Although on the other hand the delinquent who is a dope smoking, foul mouthed punk, received the same punishment for talking back to a teacher. Administrators and teachers are very quick to meet out severe punishment to those students that they have deemed worthless, while good kids get a slap on the wrist. The movie's jock is placed in Saturday detention, instead of being suspended, so that he may wrestle in an upcoming tournament; a case in which Hollywood makes an accurate depiction. This is the "holding of power" that Wehlage and Rutter spoke about in their study, High School and Beyond. Students who receive better treatment seem to do better in school when subjected to "an orderly environment, a committed and caring faculty, and an emphasis on academic pursuits"(Nieto,100). The movie goes on to compare and contrast the "princess" and the "basketcase", both seventeen year old girls who endeavor male attention, yet one is the cool crowd prom queen and the other is the loser, burnout crowd weirdo. • 9. I never truly had a high school experience, sure I had a dozen or so friends, but my relationships with them lacked depth. We may have seen each other on the weekends and laughed at each other's jokes, but in the end it was entirely meaningless. We had almost nothing in common besides the fact that we attended the same school. The only reason I had made friends with them in the first place was simply out of necessity, after all, no one wants to be that kid that sits alone at the lunch table. Had we not become friends, each one of us would have been that kid. Most of my friends weren't academically gifted, not through any fault of their own, after all, they were always busy with their egos. I was a different case entirely, I had an extreme lack of confidence in almost anything I had done, and they didn't help my situation. During my stay in high school, I didn't genuinely apply myself. Teachers would consistently tell me about how much my grades would improve if I simply attend classes regularly in body and spirit. I always shrugged them off and figured that as long as I skirt the line, I'd be fine. I thought to myself, "After all, I had passed through school all these years using the same method, so why wouldn't it work now?" Despite my low attendance and lack of effort, teachers still enjoyed my presence and would always say that the few times that I was at their class, I added a lot to their lessons. I considered these teachers my true friends, not my fellow Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. My First Week Of High School Essays First week of high school Fun, scaring, exciting are the feelings of my first week of school. This is a brand new experience of my life having to leave my friends and teachers in middle school behind. New school, new friends and new teachers are all part of this new school year. This one is different though, it's the first week of high school. Most freshmen like me that enter the school are scared. I think the first week of the school is the easiest since there would not be a lot of homework and what you need to do is to listen to what you need for the class and know other people well in the class. • 11. My Experience At High School Essay High School: A time in our lives that sets the mold for who we are going to be in this world. It does this by teaching us great lessons about life, ourselves, and other people through various experiences. One of these experiences I chose to take part in was football. It was this decision that led me to this fateful day. A day in which my left leg was shattered and my perspectives on life were drastically changed. The journey I had embark on to deal with all of the after effects of this event taught me life lessons I'll never forget. It was October 24th, 2014. This date fell on a Friday and during football season that meant it was game day for most high school teams. Not just any game though, it was our district championship. I remember it all like it was yesterday. The smell of the fresh cut grass was so satisfying and the grass itself was even more delightful to see on the field. The atmosphere was phenomenal. Both cheer squads were screaming their chants. Fans and parents alike were yelling and clapping. My shoulder pads were fastened tight around my ribs and shoulders. The adrenaline was flowing through my veins. My mind was prepared for the game but not what was about to befall me. This is where the story starts to spiral downwards. It was about five minutes into the first quarter and we ran up the middle. I was the designated lead blocker. I lunged at the linebacker full force and knocked him down. I had so much momentum going towards him that I went straight to the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Essay on Attending High School High School Do you remember your high school days? High school for me has proved to be a learning experience and also a challenge. There are many lessons that can be learned. You can learn more about yourself, who your friends are, what kind of help is offered to you, and what your strengths and your weaknesses are. Attending High School helped build my confidence because my classmates were supportive, my teachers taught me how to study for tests, and the math tutors helped me overcome my fear of math. My classmates were supportive in many ways. I used to attend study groups for the subjects that I was struggling in. In these meetings with each other,we would study our notes and review...show more content... Most students would wait until the last minute to study and try to cram all the information on a test in one night. But my teachers stressed that studying a little bit at a time would be the best way to go about learning the material. Another way they tried to provoke studying would be by telling us to study in a group.
  • 13. This method worked, but the method that I found that helped me the most was by using flash cards. It was a good way of studying especially for a test that had lots of definitions on it. But I found it much easier to look at a single piece of information instead of a whole page of notes at one time. Overall, teachers do not just teach you the facts from the books. They can help you sharpen your study skills by showing you new ways of learning. Lastly, the tutors at the school helped me to overcome my biggest fear and that was math. They helped me realize that if you take math one step at a time, it will be a lot easier than trying to learn it all at once. The tutors also made it easier for me by teaching me to relate math to something I enjoy. A simple example would be if you were having problems with percents. And they would tell you to relate it to something like when you go shopping and clothes have a certain discount. It carries the same principle. And this method can help you overcome a fear Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. My High School Experience My high school experience could be compared to a roller coaster. At times, it seemed to only go down––with no tracks into the future. Other times there were unexpected twists and turns where all I could do was hold on for dear life and see where the ride would take me. Sometimes the crazy roller coaster ride ended abruptly while other times the ride seemed everlasting, never allowing me to catch a breath. Unlike a roller coaster, I can't go back and ride again, so I have to make the most of what I've got and move forward with a positive attitude into the future. The experiences throughout my life have definitely changed me and helped me overcome many weaknesses. While in high school, I was committed to every club, sport, job and activity I was involved in. The downside of being so involved was juggling all of my commitments as well as my schoolwork. School never came easy to me, and I really struggled staying organized. During my sophomore year, my brother was diagnosed with several health conditions which required my mom and brother to be out of town for most of my sophomore year. During that time, I learned how to manage my time as well as take care of myself. The life skills I learned during that time will most definitely help me during my college experience. The learning and organizational techniques I learned during that time will help me with the rigorous college classes I am planning on taking. I am thankful for this experience because I learned these important techniques that helped me become a successful student. As a student athlete and captain on the Seymour Varsity Dance Team at Seymour Community High School, I have received amazing support from my family, school, and coaches allowing me to achieve my goals in athletics and academics. I have always appreciated the opportunities to succeed as well as help fellow team mates to reveal the potential as dancers. Becoming a captain on the Seymour Varsity Dance Team also helped me develop as a leader and hone my organizational skills. By working my hardest during and outside of practice, I earned an award for being the most improved on the team. Being on the team helped me realize that there's always skills that I can improve on in and off the dance Get more content on HelpWriting.net

After High School Experiences Elijah Taylor Ms. Milliner EESQH21Q2 9.23.16 High school students debate whether they are going to college or not.College is where you get a higher education and degree.A college degree is usually still cherished in today's society, especially those who are able to recieve one. I interviewed two people about their after high school experiences and what they did after they get their high school diploma. The two people I interviewed were my cousin Joshua Tanner, and my pastor from church, Miles Kilcrease. Here was their responses. Most people that come out of college are successful. Study show that people that graduated from college made 40 percent more than high school graduates. My first interview was with my pastor Elder Miles Kilcrease, 36, and graduated from Howard university. I asked him did college make you successful after you graduated from Howard? He replied,...show more content... They might not have the patience for it, they may not find it suitable for them, or maybe just the simple fact that it's THEIR decision in the first place. People that take up trades end up making more money than those with degrees. For example, plumbers, mechanics, construction workers, and even garbagemen. For my second interview, I was able to talk to my cousin Joshua who didn't go to college, but is a successful construction site worker. My first question was, why didn't you go to college? He says, "School wasn't for me, it was never my thing". I then asked him, do you think you needed college? His reply was, "No, because to me, college is just more money being spent, and the plain fact that even some people with a degree isn't making as much as me right now". Some people never went to college and still succeed more than people with a college degree. Another example of this type of person is my mother as well. She didn't go to college, but yet her pay is higher than people with a degree and she's a company manager and head dispatcher at her Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Throughout my first year of high school, I participated in the Gull Lake High School Marching Band. This was something I looked forward to for the entirety of middle school, and finally being able to experience it myself was better than I could have imagined. It is a privilege to learn and play an instrument, especially from so many kind, experienced instructors that teach us students through band camp each year and summer practices at school. The sheer amount of physical and mental work marching band requires is enough to make any person wonder how 150 teenagers are able to handle it; however, the bond that is formed between band members is unlike any other I have experienced. The long competitions, tiring rehearsals, and difficult music and drill is beyond worth the incredible feeling of putting on the marching show and witnessing the impact it has on our community. It is vital to have somebody in your life that supports your endeavors, beliefs, and who stands by you in times of hardship. Mr. Branden Burris, my high school band director, has proven to be an enormous impact on my life, and having him to lead our ensemble makes the entire marching band experience one I will cherish for many years to come. I am a sophomore in high school, and my top priority outside of my academics is Marching Band. As mentioned above, the act of combining my love for music and marching drill is something I feel grateful to do. It is a great privilege to affect others' lives by playing an Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Life after high school Essay Life After High School I've just entered my senior year of high school. I know that this is a very important year. I have a lot of decisions to make and not much time to make them. These decisions will either make or break my life, and I want to make sure that I make them to the best of my ability because there is no turning back. I need to make sure I definitely want to attend college. The decision is totally up to me. There are many positives and negatives of attending college. Go over them, and then decide. I know myself better then anyone else, and I won't let anyone else tell me what to do. I will make sure if I am going to attend college that I have something in mind that I will want to do, to succeed in. Choosing a major can be a...show more content... I knew I wanted to do this because I was very interested in sports my whole life. It wasn't an easy decision in choosing a school, but I think I made the best choice based on my major right now. In a short essay "College? What's in It for me?" by Steven M. Richardson, the author makes some very good points about college. Richardson states that there are a lot of reasons to not attend college, but furthermore states that attending college is your best bet at succeeding in life. Richardson states "The biggest reason for not going, probably, is that college costs money" (169). On the other hand, he states, "The decision to attend college is an investment in your future–a risk, certainly, but one with a big payoff if it's the right decision for you" (171). These are the things I had to think about along with millions of high school–students before making my decision on what I wanted to do with my life. Choosing a college is only the first part of the decision making process. What I want to do for the rest of your life is the question that the majority of high school students will ponder. As Richardson states, choosing a college as well as choosing a major is definitely an investment. The way you handle that investment is up to you. If you handle it correctly your investment will pay off immensely in the end (171). This is why I chose Athletic Training as my major. Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 19. In my first year of high school, I overcame my anxiety of being independent. All my life since the elementary school, there had always been someone telling me exactly what I should be doing, where I should be going, what needs to be done, and how to get things done. This was especially apparent in elementary and middle school. Students walk together in an assembly, go to lunch as a class, play together during recess, have interactive conversations, and pack up together at the end of the day. Eventually, high school started and everything changed. I was expected to become independent. This concept was new to me and made me anxious. Sooner or later, I had to overcome the fear of being alone. Being dependent of others during school had...show more content... I struggled to find my classes and eventually ended up asking for help from several different people. I was reluctant at first because I didn't like asking for help, but I also didn't want to be tardier than I already was. I eventually did find my classes and I remember the relief of seeing the door numbers matching the numbers on my schedule. Unlike middle school where students were grouped together, navigating through high school was a significant difference. On the first day of freshmen year, lunch period was the most confusing time of day. First off, I didn't have any idea where the lunch room was and my classmates were going in different directions, which didn't help me at all. Apparently, different classes have different lunch periods, meaning it wasn't definite if I would see my friends. And once I got into the cafeteria, I didn't even know where to stand for the lunch line. In elementary and middle school, there was only one line with one line of food choice. But here I saw four different lines with different food choices. After a moment of confusion, I did end up getting my food and finding a place to sit. I didn't even worry about finding my friends since I saw several people not paying attention to anyone either. I saw many people who didn't even get lunches and that humored me. I just thought to myself they didn't know which line to get in and were probably more confused than I. The noise Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. My Greatest Accomplishment In High School A Found Friend I thought I knew everything about high school then I met Da'kevus Arceneaux. Well it was 7 o'clock in Ms. Phyllis's English 1 first hour when De'kevus Arceneaux smoothly cruised into the classroom with a smile from ear to ear. De'kevus discussed with me how high school changed him and helped him grow and he answered with a bright smile and clear answers. Speaking with De'kevus, I learned more about the high school experience, coming of age and making future plans. Da'kevus had a very good experience when it came to sports and academics. I asked Da'kevus, "What was your biggest accomplishment in high school and how did you accomplish it". Da'kevus answered "My biggest accomplishment is where I am now, my senior year, you must stay focused and do what you need to do to get where you want to be.". Da'kevus excelled very well in Track and Cross Country. Da'kevus said : I ran track because i love running.". Now I know more about Carencro High school, I also learned more about Cross country. Da'kevus has matured so much during his years at Carencro High school. I asked Da'kevus "How has high school changed you?" he answered by saying "High School changed me because at first I was shy but it changed me to open up to people and it taught me how to speak to people, like you need to be able to speak to people for jobs and your life further beyond. Da'kevus and I were having a conversations about the best advice a teacher has ever gave him, he answer with a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
