Education in Malaysia since 1957 Independence in 1957, Education in Malaysia has a strategic role of uniting the three major races which were economically, geographically and socially divided due to the previous ‘divide and rule’ policy of the British administration. Various curriculum reforms and innovations in education, and will continue to be used as a platform to instill positive values and as a tool to unite the generations. 16. Department of Art and Design Education, UiTM The department provides training for students pursuing a Bachelor Degree in Education (Art and Design Education). 19. Museum and Gallery Learning As Compulsory Subject in Teacher Education Program Every student in the program is required to attend this subject as part of the course requirement. The discussion on challenges and way to move forward in the implementation of Art Education and Museum/Gallery subject is part of the UiTM’s initiatives to promote museums and art galleries as cultural hubs that actively engage in knowledge building and dissemination. To realize this, Faculty of Education particularly the Department of Art and Design Education appreciates any forms of assistance and constructive suggestions to improve the manner in which the subject is designed and implemented.
