2. Celador Ownership
It was established in 1983 by Paul Smith and Jasper Carrott
Complete Communications bought Celador out.
When under the ownership of Complete, Celador expanded it’s
radio, film and international businesses.
The Chairman of Celador Entertainment is Paul Smith.
Celador Productions is ran by Danielle Lux, who is the managing
director
They then bought themselves out of complete when they decided
to sell, however they are now currently independent again.
3. Operating Model
Celador is an independent production company, which means it is quite
small compared other well known film production companies.
To create their films they sometimes do deals with other small
companies that are similar to their own as this helps with funding.
During the creation of a film they use a freelance crew, this is where
Celador hired independent people to take up each role. The reason for
this is because then they're able to select somebody who has
experience in the role they're applying for so the film will be the best it
can be.
Another way of funding their films is through profit they get through
productions.
For the film ‘Descent’ Celador had no part in the production, however,
they did all of the funding. They got the funding through selling the
distribution rights to pathe. Northmen did all of the production.
4. Products
Celador currently have 8 films:

They also have a well known
theatrical company which only
became successful in 2009 but
was established in 1989.
As well as this they have a music
company called Lusam music, this
was established in 2003.
5. Market position & Competiton
Celador – The descent– Budget: £3.5 Million Profit: 2.7 million
DNA Films – Dredd – Budget: $45 Million Profit: $13.4 million
Sony Entertainment – Hancock - $150 Million profit: $228 million
Film 4 – The Inbetweeners Movie – £3.5 Million profit: £41 million
When comparing Celador to film4 I believe that film4 are more
successful as the profit they received was much more than the
profit Celador received even though both films had the same
budget.
