GLOBALIZATION
• Description – One country can effect many other countries because of
interconnected businesses. Some characteristics of globalization include;
free trade which is trades between countries without governmental control,
economic activity where the activity of markets are controlled and
coordinated with the national economy and world economy, and
connectivity which is where cultural characteristics have no boundaries
between countries.
• Importance – Globalization allows for countries to rely and depend on
each other throughout the world; meaning that it would be difficult for one
country to manage itself without resources from other countries.
• Role in 21st Century Education – Showing students the interconnectivity
within the world and how economic activity within countries are
dependent on each other.
GLOBALIZATION
• Implementing Technology – Using maps of the world economy and how
the countries are connected along with the use of diagrams to show
similarities and differences between countries and how they are connected
with globalization.
• Tools – 1) Digital Storytelling – Showing the processes of globalization
and breaking it down into a digital story. 2) YouTube – Showing how
people view their countries global market, such as the video “Why America
Is Not The Greatest Country in The World, Anymore”. 3) Wikis – Using
the website to create a Wiki for globalization and giving different
information and add ideas from the students themselves to the page.
GLOBALIZATION
• 4) Zello – Using Zello as a discussion based learning tool where students
could spend time discussing the characteristics of globalization in real life
situations, such as if a student is in Walmart and could start a discussion
about items within the store and the different countries that their made
from. 5) Facebook – Start a page about globalization and have students be
required to comment on different countries and how their connected along
with different subjects of interconnectivity
GLOBALIZATION
(CONTINUED)
• Wikis – The Wiki could be used to go more in depth with the
characteristics of globalization and how they effect the global markets.
Each characteristic could be branched off and focused on with a table of
contents that would lead to different sources for that specific
characteristic. Through Wikis, this could break down the idea of
globalization and how it works with visual aids that could help students get
a more efficient and modern way of learning. With each year, students
could add onto the Wiki in terms of new developments within
globalization; this would also have the Wiki become a timeline which
students could refer to how globalization has changed through time.
THE USE OF TECHNOLOGY
Through the use of 21st Century Tools, the teaching of globalization and how
it works could become less complicated and more interesting to learn. With
the use of technology, globalization could be more interesting to learn with
various ways of learning the information for new technology-based
generations.
