Production roles
Our shortfilmisquite simple andwe have enoughmemberswhowill
all have a differentproductionrole forthe film.We have 4people in
the crew Laolu,Me (Tanim),Clifford,Liamwhichissufficientfor
everymembertogeta role for crew such as beinga cameraman, the
director,producerandsoundengineer.
The directorLaolu will be giving me advice onhow toperformmy
role as a producerand how I may be more effective inthe successof
the short film.Hisjobas a directorwill be tomake sure everyone is
doingtheirrolestomake the filmattractive toviewers.A director
controlsthe artisticand dramaticaspects,the directorhas to
visualise the scriptand guide the technical crew andthe actorsto
fulfil thatscriptvisualization.
As I (Tanim) amthe producer,I will have to
prepare the filmandthensupervise the setwhile it’sbeingproduced.Iwill
alsohave the job of financingthe film.Iwill have tomake sure that
everyone playstheirrolesaswell asassistingthe directorwiththe
scripting.Withthe postproductionIwill have tocheck the filmwiththe
directorand thenpropose ittothe filmdistributorscompany,inorderto
getthe filmoutthere andgenerate some revenue.IandLaoluwill have to
promote the filmalsotofilmcompaniesastowhy theyshouldairourfilm.
Liam will be the
camera man,this
meanshe will be in
charge of gettingthe
rightshotsof the
actors by following
the shot scriptwhichwill tell himexactlywhathe needstocapture onfilmandwhen. Whenusing
the camera Liam will have toutilise the tripodsforthe still shotswhichwillcapture whatthe talent
inthe shortfilmwill be doingandhe will be holdingthe cameraonhisshoulderswhenhe isgetting
POV shotsfromthe certaincharactersview andthe over the shouldershots. He will have tomake
sure that the camera isas still ascan be otherwise ourshortfilmwill looklow qualityandasif we
didn’tputmuch effortintoit,tohelphimdo thishe can utilise the tripodforthe camerawhenwe
are capturingthe shots,alsohe can use hisshouldertomake sure the camera isstill whencapturing
shotsthat don’tor can’t have the use of a tripod.

film.Giventhisjob,he will have the rolesof
ensuringthe filmhasgoodsoundandthe
dialogue inthe filmisclearwhenhe iseditingit
inthe studio.He will tell usif the soundistoo
quietandwe will have the jobof retakingthe
shotsand thensubmittingittohimagainfor
editing.He will alsohave the jobof editingthe
clips,addingtransitionsandcutstomake the
filmlookappealingandprofessional,he could
use certaineditstolessenthe effectsof ashaky
camera shotto make it looklike itwassupposed
to be like that,if we needtoimprovise.

For the talentinour short filmwe were goingtoinitiallyuse ourselvesandacouple of otherfriends
to helpus,butthenwe were evaluatinghow wellthiswouldworkoutandwe realisedthatsome
core membersof the groupdidn’tknowhow touse some equipmentproperlysowe decidedthatit
wouldbe bestto asksome friendstoplaythe rolesof talentand the core membersof the filmcrew
can have jobsas cameraman etc.
We have decidedtouse friendsandclassmatesinCTKtohave a total of 3 actors. We have chosen
well behavedpeople andpeoplewithadecentdramaskill level toactin our shortfilmsothat the
filmdoesn’tlookunorganised.Talentwill be workingtogethersotheyhave tomake sure theyare
not inconflictandmust make sure theydon’t laughwhenwe are recordingor itcouldmessup the
scenes.
We can use differentmethodsof lightingandshotstoestablishacertainatmosphere togenerate a
moodof fear,comedyanddrama.
Hannah Bamgbalawill be playingthe role
of Busola,she isone of the antagonists
whowill be actingas the intimidating
bullywhowill be pesteringthe
protagonistJose playedbyAnthony
Gonzalezforhisrice.She will have to
showgoodexpressionsothat we can
showthe viewersthatshe isthreatening
Jose.
AnthonyGonzalezwillbe
playingthe role of Jose,he is
the protagonist,andhe will
have to act well toshow the
audience thathe isexposed,we
can use differentcamerashots
such as close upshotsto show
the fearin hisface.
The main antagonistwill be silhouette
man playedasAonghusMullenhe will
be intimidatingthe antagonistBusola,
whois playedbyHannahBamgbala.
We will use differentshotsand
experimentationinthe editingand
cinematographytomake himlooks
scary and devioussuchasa POV shot
and overthe shouldershot.
