The first time I witnessed my father's fist aimed for my mother, I was nine.
Voices coated in the bitter taste of blackstrap molasses clung to the kitchen walls.
There her milky white complexion stood, wearing a yellow sundress stitched with white daffodils,
shoved against the stainless steel refrigerator. My mother's once pinned–to–tight honeydew curls lay
loose around her shoulders. The strong–willed and control freak of a mother I grown accustomed,
never cowered in the face of danger. But I suppose danger always had an intimate connection with
its victims. My dad, my hero, was a simpering drunk with a swan song. He spoke down to her in
hushed tones. "How can you let this happen on your watch? You don't fucking work Candi, I didn't

My Hero Essay
My Hero My hero is one that is very close to me. My hero is the person that gave birth to me. My
hero is my mother. I chose my mom as my hero because to me that is what she is and more. My
mom is literally the backbone in the family. She takes care of everything in the family and around
the house. Before I began to drive my mom would take me everywhere. My mother like many others
has been to the moon and back just to help me. She is such a kind person, she gives me advice
about anything, she is always helping me convince my dad about anything, and most importantly she
helps me get away with everything. My mom is not just my mother she is more than that, she is like
the best friend I could ever have. I remember the amount of times that...show more content...
When she got here from Cuba she immediately looked for a job so that my dad wouldn't have to
work 24 hours driving a truck all over the Florida to get money. So he kept his day shift and she
got a night shift at a station. She was there for about a year then she began to study to become a
beautician and she achieved in doing so. It took too many hours away from me so she left her job
to take care of elderly people during the day and clean peoples homes during the weekends to
make a little extra money. She didn't want my dad to have me to himself all night long she
wanted that quality time with me. I can even explain how much I appreciate all the things she did
for me. I understand now how hard it was for them to spend time with me and get money. I
remember that my first christmas in America I literally got nothing because my parents couldn't
afford it, basically they couldn't afford anything. There was even a time where they both had to
work full day shifts just to be able to pay the rent. My mom worked in everything she could find
and everything she did, she did more than good. My mom had never worked a day in her life until
she got to America. She did it because she couldn't bare to watch my dad kill himself at work and
her do nothing. Though she may sometimes get annoyed by me, I always demonstrate affection
towards her. She even gets mad sometimes but I don't care because she gets over it soon enough.
My mom is my confidant and I am hers. She comes to me with

My Role Model: My Father Is A Super Hero
Throughout someone's life they have a role model that they look up to and admire. Whether it be
a super hero, a relative, or even a friend, they still look up to that individual. My role model comes
in the form of a five foot five man, with short black hair, and a face just like mine. He's my father
and even though he's no super hero, he's still definitely the person I look up to the most. Whether
it be supporting my dreams, needing someone to talk to, or needing a ride to a date, he's always
there for me. When it comes down to it he's the person I admire most, my role model, father,
mentor, and most importantly my friend. My dad has always had to make choices and sacrifices
for my own benefit. For the first four years of my life my family couldn't afford a car. Since both my
parents worked my dad had to walk me to my babysitter before work every day (no matter how hot
or cold the weather...show more content...
From working on cars, to fixing the T.V., I observed every little move he made. When I turned
thirteen he started teaching me different ways to fix electronic appliances like video game
controllers. I was always fascinated by how much he knew and admired how he taught me every
single thing with patience. He felt more like a teacher than a father every time he taught me
something. When I was in seventh grade, I started to get bullied and it got to the point where it
got physical. In order to learn how to defend myself he taught me how to box. He was a rough
teacher, pushing me to my limits, not even letting me rest until he said I could. However, teaching
me how to box was the best thing he ever taught me. I stopped being bullied and I found
something I loved and wanted to improve at. Every lesson I learned, every detail we spent talking
about, were things I cherished because I felt closer to the person I admired most. Growing into the
person I am today was all thanks to

Descriptive Essay About My Dad
Have you ever had a hero in your life, someone that is always there for you when you need them? I
did, I called him "my dad." My dad was the only person that could make me laugh when I was
feeling down. My dad was that person who had so much love for his family. My dad was the person
who I could call and he'd always pick up. My dad was the person who would drop everything just to
help me. My dad was the biggest hero in my life and to this day, still is.
My dad has always been my biggest motivator and the reason for growing up the way I did. We had
a very tight relationship; I was definitely a "daddy's girl." I always wanted to be around him, he was
someone I looked up to when I was younger. I always looked at him like he was so much more

He was paying out of pocket for everything because the government kept on denying his request for
disability and social security income. I remember always seeing him take fifteen pills at a time with
every meal he would eat.
My dad got diagnosed with prostate cancer in early 2014. It was a hard year for my family, and I still
remember it like it was yesterday. Not even in my worst dreams did I ever see my dad having cancer.
The man that I looked up to, and loved to pieces had cancer. I was devastated, I remember crying
and being afraid that I was going to lose him to an incurable disease that lurked the lives of many.
About a year after being diagnosed, his doctor told him that he was cancer free. He was so happy;
his face was all smiles. I had never seen him so happy in his entire life. It was such a beautiful
sight seeing my old mans face that lit up, he told everyone that he was cancer free. I was so proud
of my father for being that strong, cancer couldn't even bring him down.
Early 2016, my dad became very ill and it wasn't going away. He realized that going to the
emergency room was his only option. My mom took him to the emergency room, and they
transferred him to the Lovelace cancer center. They explained to him that he had stage 4 colon
cancer and there was nothing more they could do. The doctor who told him the news told him that
he would have 6 months to live after his colonoscopy had taken place. It had been more than 6

My dad is my hero, he goes by the name of Ray Williams. My dad is a preacher but not your typical
preacher. Just because he is a preacher he doesn't stop me from living my life and having fun that's
what I love about him. People always see my father as one of the "cool dads". Some of the reason he
is my hero is that he is strong, helpful, and always there for me. Trust and believe that's not even
the half of it. One of the main reasons my dad is my hero because he is always there for me.
When I was in 6th grade my parents got divorced and life hasn't been the same ever since, but my
dad has always encouraged me and ensured me that everything was gonna be okay. Whatever I
needed he tried his hardest to provide. Not to mention I...show more content...
If they need anything he tries to help them out even though he knows it isn't his responsibility.
Another example of how my father helps others is when my friends or my sibling's friends need a
ride my father will give it. If they need a couple dollars he doesn't mind helping them out. My dad
even offers to take us all out to eat and pay for everybody's food even if my friends have money. My
dad has a huge heart, and nobody can take that from him. The last reason why my dad is my hero
is that he supports me in anything and everything I do. My dad is the most supportive person I
could ever think of. Whatever I decide to do (unless it's something completely out of the box), he is
by my side. He always says, "If it makes you happy I'm happy". He just wants what's best for me just
like any other parent would for their child, but it feels different for me. I know for a fact when I'm in
trouble he is always gonna be there to help. I fall down is always there to pick me back up again,
and at the end of the day no matter how much I get on his nerves, and how hard of a time I always
give him he's never gonna leave me In conclusion, my dad is a blessing, and I wouldn't replace him
for all the money in the world. Many people don't have a dad or take their father for granted, but I'm
so grateful for mine. He never judges me, and never will, and I know he's "Team Alisha" till the day
I die. Therefore, it is safe to say, my father, Ray Williams is my

Descriptive Essay About My Father
Every person I have ever met has someone that they are able to look up to and can say that that
specific person is their hero. A very important person in my life that has affected me in many ways
would be my father. There is so much to know about such a great person. Lance Knight is a mentor,
a hard worker, a businessman, an avid ice hockey fan, and a loving dad. Whether he is at home, in
the office, or out socializing with friends and family you can always expect a friendly and
positive demeanor. My father is one of the most paramount and compelling people in my life due
to his love he shares for others, his influential advice, and the countless similarities we have in
common. The love that my father has for others shines like the first light of day of a bright
Arizona sunrise. His loyalty to his friends and family is unparalleled to others. One example of
this would be during the holidays towards his family. He understands that family time is
extremely important, which is why he does his best to create memorable experiences that last a
lifetime. Another example of this involves his business clients that he takes such great care of. As
a financial advisor and money manager for other people, he treats everyone of them as if they
were his closest and dearest friends. He understands that effort and hard work put in towards
others will pay back in the future. Overtime, a level of trust is built between him and his clients
causing them to consistently ask for influential advice. Lance is one of the most influential people
I have ever met. The advice that he has given me in the past has helped me through many life
situations. This specific characteristic has caused him to be a great mentor and life coach to
countless people. What makes him stand out even more is his constant willingness to provide his
influential advice to help others. I have even had close friends ask him for advice on certain topics
of business within their college courses. Another example of influential advice that he has given
happened within the past few weeks towards myself. I had gotten cut from my recent ice hockey
team and I was debating on whether to continue playing or instead attend college in December. He
was the one that convinced

College Admissions Essay: My Father Is My Hero
A hero to me is someone that is willing to help other. A hero to me is someone that is willing to do
the right thing even if it means that they miss the football game. A hero to me is someone that sees
the bad and turns it to into the good. My father fits this description perfectly. When is comes to
willing to do the right thing even if they miss something important my father is off the charts. For
instance when I was extremely sick he took me to the Urgi–Care even though he would miss the
football game. His son came first. Also when I left my coat at pre–school my dad would take me
even though he had to get the grouches. When I was younger I was very forgetful. Whenever

My Hero
It has been said that not all superhero's wear capes. I agree with this statement undeniably. My dad
is more than just my hero; he is my best friend. Absolutely one–of–a–kind. He is knowledgeable,
hardworking, and also the most loving man I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He loves
unconditionally. A remodel, a teacher, and a great example of what a father should be like. There
are not enough words in the whole world to show how much he means to me and how much I love
him.
Have you ever thought about how life would be without motivation nudging you to move
forward? My daddy pushes me to do my best each and every day. My two amazing sisters and I
would not be the young women we are today if it were not for him there to guide us in the right
direction. From late night ball games, to frustrating calculus homework, there is never ending
support. I do not know where I would be in life right now if it were not for his constant motivation.
Giving is not a strong enough word when you are talking about my dad. He has made so many
sacrifices for my family. From driving me hours away from home at the crack of dawn, to moving
thirty–seven hours away to a different country to support our family. He is constantly doing
whatever he can to make sure my siblings and I have anything we could ever want or need. Along
all of these things my father would do anything to help anyone who needs it.

Personal Narrative-My Hero, My Dad
My Hero, My Dad
The wind was cold and bit deeply into the skin on my exposed legs and chest. I shivered a little,
shielding my face against the cold by putting my back to the wind. Standing alone on the platform,
high against the background of the rest of the park sent shivers tightly down my spine. I watched the
goose bumps raise neatly on my arms and legs. I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, sighed out my
anxieties and jumped.
I was quickly being violently thrashed about inside the fiberglass tube, working my way down the
cascading waterfall of death. The water slide threw me like a rag doll in the air only to catch me
again with the gentleness of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. This jolt sent my head...show more content...
There was disorder on the outside. Apparently everyone thought I was in trouble. I did not think so.
The serene clarity of my water wonderland put my mind at ease.
Unfortunately the concussion I suffered from the water slide skewed my judgment, if only slightly.
A lifeguard immediately recognized my situation and, accordingly, leapt into the pool, bubbly with
the thought of saving a life. He quickly and accurately swam across the watery expanse determined
to put his training to use, saving a complete stranger. Lying at the bottom of the pool, I was
completely unaware of the goings on up above. All I remember was the hand.
My rescuer's hand plunged through the glassy surface above and took a hold of mine. I was
drawn from my trance as I was drawn from the water. I immediately gasped for air, thrashing as
the oxygen started to fill my lungs. At first I couldn't tell who carried me to the side of the pool,
focusing on breathing, feeling like I had never used my lungs before. When I caught my breath, I
stared into my lifesaver's face. To my surprise my father's eyes stared back.
Astonishing onlookers and baffling the lifeguard on duty, my dad heroically jumped in the water,
beat the trained guard to me and plucked me from the blissful waters through his love for his son.
All this time my rescuer, my savior, was my own dad. I did not even realize he was near enough to

A hero is someone who risks, or risked, their lives everyday for someone other than themselves. My
hero is my dad. My dad has been there for me since I was born. He has been at my soccer games,
softball games, track meets, and cross–country meets. But what makes my dad a superhero is that he
is in the air force. That means that he risks his life for other people everyday just by going to work.
My family has gone through a lot over the past few years but my dad has helped all of us get
through it. My dad has been deployed in South Korea for a year. Even though he is thousands of
miles away he has been with us through it all. Over the year we have had to plan and get ready for a

My Father, My Hero When I was four, I knew I had the greatest dad in the world. My dad always
made me laugh, always took care of me when I was sick, and always found time to spend with me
outside of work. My dad has been a firefighter for almost 30 years. He started in April of 1995 and
has been with Tupelo Fire Department since. My dad started out as a sergeant driving the fire
truck when he first began his career as a firefighter. In May of 2016, he was promoted Captain of
Station 6 in Tupelo, Mississippi. In a recent interview I had with my dad, I asked him questions
about his job. Some questions included what was the toughest part of his job, how it felt when he
had to leave his family for work in the morning, and knowing what he knows now about
firefighting now, would he go back and change his choice of career. Before this interview, I knew
firefighting was a serious job, but I had no idea of some of the incidents my dad had encountered.
The interview was heart–felt and could be gut wrenching, depending on the question I asked my dad.
My father is my hero, not only because of the lives he has helped, but because he has been the
person to always make me laugh through hard times. My dad, Captain Mark Patton, has always
found humor in any situation. Even when he has to be serious in calls he is dispatched to, he finds
a way to make his samaritans laugh. One question I asked my dad was, "Have you ever received
any calls that have been hilarious and just

Words are powerful beings. They can have good negative connotations, but some words are worse
than others and should never be uttered. One word in particular instills fear in all who hear it. A
word that is mentally draining and debilitating. That word is cancer. Unfortunately in my short 19
years–of–life, I've heard that word three times. I heard it at six years old when my mother first came
down with it and at nineteen when my father and grand–father were diagnosed. It's not just some
disease, or medical condition. The definition of Cancer isn't as simple as dictionary.com states; "a
malignant and invasive growth or tumor tending to recur after excision and to metastasize to
other sites." To those who have been diagnosed, and to the families who have seen their loved
ones in a terrible state of being, think that the word cancer is much more. Ever since my mother's
passing, I've related that word to something bad, to the pain of a loved one, to the breaking down
of a life and to the start of many responsibilities...it's a death sentence. Never did I think I would
hear that word again after my mother Paula, but life never ceases to throw people a curveball. I
remember sitting in a small room with my father and the doctor. We thought his laperoscopy was
nothing to be afraid of, but the doctor knew otherwise. He in fact said cancer and I immediately
started to break down. My world was crumbling in on me and I truly though that I was going to be
left alone yet again. My

My dad is my hero.
It was only last week when I was prompted to recall this. When I tore my meniscus five months
ago, I underwent surgery in order to remove the damaged tissue. Recovery was going well, but
unbeknownst to me, if you do not keep up with your physical therapy exercises, then you will
regress in your abilities. I had been running just the week before, but within a week I learned this
brutal lesson because I could no longer walk. It was a setback in my running due to overuse and a
regrettable lack of motivation to do my physical therapy exercises.
Yet as much pain as I was in, this was only like a glimpse into my father's life withcerebral palsy.

For clarification, cerebral palsy is a diverse disorder that affects every patient uniquely. It is
usually marked by severely diminished motor coordination and spastic muscle qualities. Notably is
Melody from the novel Out of My Mind. She is an example of a critical case of CP where she
cannot sit upright or talk. However, there are patients on the other end of the spectrum, including my
dad. These individuals can control many fine motor movements, and often, they can walk with some
aid.
It would be easy for my dad to succumb to his circumstances, choose to be inactive, have a negative
outlook on life. What is so inspiring about my father is that he did not take this road. Instead he falls
into the category with other able–bodied dads: he has an unfortunate choice in calf–length white
socks, ancient New Balance sneakers, and a preoccupation with road maps and directions.
Here is an image of my father. My mom insisted on taking this picture of him while we were
celebrating his most recent birthday. To the unsuspecting viewer, my dad is a jovial man who has
just turned 29. One might say that his smile lights up the room as much as the cake. Although he
was actually turning 59, the candles turn back the clock 30 years because he has a comical
obsession with claiming that he is perpetually 29. I suppose the older one gets, the more denial he or
she must feel.

My Hero : My Best Friend
Yesterday afternoon I lost my teacher, my hero, my best friend, my favorite person––my father. We
knew the inevitable was coming three months ago, and my emotions have been all over the place.
I have been preparing myself, but it's beginning to hit me and words can not describe how much
I'll miss him. Dad was diagnosed with lymphoma of the brain in June, and even though we were
warned it might change his personality in a negative way, my father had too much sweetness about
him to let that happen. As usual, he faced adversity with courage, grace, and with a smile. He
showed us once again how to be an outstanding example of a human being. Dad was tall, strong,
handsome, gentle, kind and fun. He had a passion for anything with an engine. He rode motorcycles.
After he retired he made a yearly trip to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally with his nephew, Dennis. His
boyhood dream was to fly airplanes, and he made it happen. He flew his airplane as long as I've
known him, and the last time he piloted his plane was May of this year. He traveled the world while
working for Learjet. He loved a slice of pie, a cold beer, animals, his friends and his family. He loved
life. A real talker, Dad always had a story to tell about growing up on a north–central Kansas farm
with his parents and nine siblings during the 1930's and 40's. He served in the Air Force and then
moved to Wichita where he met our beautiful, French–speaking mother from south Louisiana whose

My Hero Essay
What is the definition of a hero? Is hero supposed to be a person who fights crime and saves
people from harm's way? Or a person who wears a costume or a cape and use their superpowers
for justice? Whenever we think of heroes, characters such as Batman and Superman come to our
mind, but what we don't usually consider are the real life heroes we see around us every day who
can be anyone from our family, friends to police officers, firefighters and soldiers fighting for our
country. I personally believe a hero is someone who has made a positive impact in my life. This
person might not feel that the deeds he or she performed have any significance but to me these
deeds mean a lot. This person can be someone who was there for me when I needed them the most,
supported me during hardships, helped me get on my feet when I was feeling down and gave hope
when everything seemed lost. To me my everyday hero is my mother.
The reason why I chose my mother as my everyday hero is due to the fact that she is the one
responsible for making me the person I am today. When I was young I use to get sick often, I had
asthma since a very young age and often during the night I would get asthma attacks. My parents
would always get worried if my asthma got really bad, it would often get so bad that they would
have to take me to the hospital. My mom would always stay by my side and no matter how bad the
situation seemed, I always felt safe being around her. My mom would stay up all night looking after

My father is not a father. Technically, sure he's a father, but in every other meaning of the word
he is not. My dad made my life miserable at a young age by acting like a teenager and forcing me
to be responsible. At the same time, I learned what is important in life and I have learned from his

My dad was never meant to be a dad. He still acts like a teenager even today.
My father was hired at a factory right out of high school and moved up the ranks to a supervisor, a

Through his mistakes my father has taught me what is important in my life. My dad has made
more mistakes than I can count, but from every one he has made, I have learned from. The biggest
one in my opinion is having kids at such a young age and not having a plan or high paying job. He
taught me that family is more important than work. He did not appreciate either and my family is
fairly dysfunctional because of it. My father's back–up plan for anything is just spend more money
to fix whatever he did or did not do such as missing a court date and him not having a job just
leaches off the rest of my family. Some things you must learn by experience. Everyone tells you
that drugs are evil and to stay away from them, but teenagers are still curious and will try them out
anyway. That is not the case for me as I have personally seen how they destroy lives, kill people,
and ruin futures. There is no happiness in them except those few moments when you take them,
which can also be hell as well, including right after you take them. My father, being in the drug
world has many friends, some decent people with unacceptable habits, most terrible people with
worse actions. Over half of my dads "friends" are in prison or jail and about half of them have

The man above all the rest, because of his influence on my life, is my dad. He is so special to me

reading stories for contests, and just observing him.
My dad's a principal now of an elementary school, but he is probably one of the most visible, active

many principals do that? The kids, teachers, and parents all get a kick out of that. Since he was a
teacher for so many years, the teachers feel more like he is "one of them", not an egotistical
administrator that feels he is so much better than everyone else. He really loves and cares about the
kids. He's so proud of the students in his school, always cutting their pictures out of the paper and
having kids be "principal for the day".
Many people have influenced me to become a teacher through their example and their sincere
concern for me. Some great people listened to me and are now my

My Dad My Hero Essay

  • 1. The first time I witnessed my father's fist aimed for my mother, I was nine. Voices coated in the bitter taste of blackstrap molasses clung to the kitchen walls. There her milky white complexion stood, wearing a yellow sundress stitched with white daffodils, shoved against the stainless steel refrigerator. My mother's once pinned–to–tight honeydew curls lay loose around her shoulders. The strong–willed and control freak of a mother I grown accustomed, never cowered in the face of danger. But I suppose danger always had an intimate connection with its victims. My dad, my hero, was a simpering drunk with a swan song. He spoke down to her in hushed tones. "How can you let this happen on your watch? You don't fucking work Candi, I didn't marry Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. My Hero Essay My Hero My hero is one that is very close to me. My hero is the person that gave birth to me. My hero is my mother. I chose my mom as my hero because to me that is what she is and more. My mom is literally the backbone in the family. She takes care of everything in the family and around the house. Before I began to drive my mom would take me everywhere. My mother like many others has been to the moon and back just to help me. She is such a kind person, she gives me advice about anything, she is always helping me convince my dad about anything, and most importantly she helps me get away with everything. My mom is not just my mother she is more than that, she is like the best friend I could ever have. I remember the amount of times that...show more content... When she got here from Cuba she immediately looked for a job so that my dad wouldn't have to work 24 hours driving a truck all over the Florida to get money. So he kept his day shift and she got a night shift at a station. She was there for about a year then she began to study to become a beautician and she achieved in doing so. It took too many hours away from me so she left her job to take care of elderly people during the day and clean peoples homes during the weekends to make a little extra money. She didn't want my dad to have me to himself all night long she wanted that quality time with me. I can even explain how much I appreciate all the things she did for me. I understand now how hard it was for them to spend time with me and get money. I remember that my first christmas in America I literally got nothing because my parents couldn't afford it, basically they couldn't afford anything. There was even a time where they both had to work full day shifts just to be able to pay the rent. My mom worked in everything she could find and everything she did, she did more than good. My mom had never worked a day in her life until she got to America. She did it because she couldn't bare to watch my dad kill himself at work and her do nothing. Though she may sometimes get annoyed by me, I always demonstrate affection towards her. She even gets mad sometimes but I don't care because she gets over it soon enough. My mom is my confidant and I am hers. She comes to me with Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. My Role Model: My Father Is A Super Hero Throughout someone's life they have a role model that they look up to and admire. Whether it be a super hero, a relative, or even a friend, they still look up to that individual. My role model comes in the form of a five foot five man, with short black hair, and a face just like mine. He's my father and even though he's no super hero, he's still definitely the person I look up to the most. Whether it be supporting my dreams, needing someone to talk to, or needing a ride to a date, he's always there for me. When it comes down to it he's the person I admire most, my role model, father, mentor, and most importantly my friend. My dad has always had to make choices and sacrifices for my own benefit. For the first four years of my life my family couldn't afford a car. Since both my parents worked my dad had to walk me to my babysitter before work every day (no matter how hot or cold the weather...show more content... From working on cars, to fixing the T.V., I observed every little move he made. When I turned thirteen he started teaching me different ways to fix electronic appliances like video game controllers. I was always fascinated by how much he knew and admired how he taught me every single thing with patience. He felt more like a teacher than a father every time he taught me something. When I was in seventh grade, I started to get bullied and it got to the point where it got physical. In order to learn how to defend myself he taught me how to box. He was a rough teacher, pushing me to my limits, not even letting me rest until he said I could. However, teaching me how to box was the best thing he ever taught me. I stopped being bullied and I found something I loved and wanted to improve at. Every lesson I learned, every detail we spent talking about, were things I cherished because I felt closer to the person I admired most. Growing into the person I am today was all thanks to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Descriptive Essay About My Dad Have you ever had a hero in your life, someone that is always there for you when you need them? I did, I called him "my dad." My dad was the only person that could make me laugh when I was feeling down. My dad was that person who had so much love for his family. My dad was the person who I could call and he'd always pick up. My dad was the person who would drop everything just to help me. My dad was the biggest hero in my life and to this day, still is. My dad has always been my biggest motivator and the reason for growing up the way I did. We had a very tight relationship; I was definitely a "daddy's girl." I always wanted to be around him, he was someone I looked up to when I was younger. I always looked at him like he was so much more ...show more content... He was paying out of pocket for everything because the government kept on denying his request for disability and social security income. I remember always seeing him take fifteen pills at a time with every meal he would eat. My dad got diagnosed with prostate cancer in early 2014. It was a hard year for my family, and I still remember it like it was yesterday. Not even in my worst dreams did I ever see my dad having cancer. The man that I looked up to, and loved to pieces had cancer. I was devastated, I remember crying and being afraid that I was going to lose him to an incurable disease that lurked the lives of many. About a year after being diagnosed, his doctor told him that he was cancer free. He was so happy; his face was all smiles. I had never seen him so happy in his entire life. It was such a beautiful sight seeing my old mans face that lit up, he told everyone that he was cancer free. I was so proud of my father for being that strong, cancer couldn't even bring him down. Early 2016, my dad became very ill and it wasn't going away. He realized that going to the emergency room was his only option. My mom took him to the emergency room, and they transferred him to the Lovelace cancer center. They explained to him that he had stage 4 colon cancer and there was nothing more they could do. The doctor who told him the news told him that he would have 6 months to live after his colonoscopy had taken place. It had been more than 6 Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. My Dad Essay My dad is my hero, he goes by the name of Ray Williams. My dad is a preacher but not your typical preacher. Just because he is a preacher he doesn't stop me from living my life and having fun that's what I love about him. People always see my father as one of the "cool dads". Some of the reason he is my hero is that he is strong, helpful, and always there for me. Trust and believe that's not even the half of it. One of the main reasons my dad is my hero because he is always there for me. When I was in 6th grade my parents got divorced and life hasn't been the same ever since, but my dad has always encouraged me and ensured me that everything was gonna be okay. Whatever I needed he tried his hardest to provide. Not to mention I...show more content... If they need anything he tries to help them out even though he knows it isn't his responsibility. Another example of how my father helps others is when my friends or my sibling's friends need a ride my father will give it. If they need a couple dollars he doesn't mind helping them out. My dad even offers to take us all out to eat and pay for everybody's food even if my friends have money. My dad has a huge heart, and nobody can take that from him. The last reason why my dad is my hero is that he supports me in anything and everything I do. My dad is the most supportive person I could ever think of. Whatever I decide to do (unless it's something completely out of the box), he is by my side. He always says, "If it makes you happy I'm happy". He just wants what's best for me just like any other parent would for their child, but it feels different for me. I know for a fact when I'm in trouble he is always gonna be there to help. I fall down is always there to pick me back up again, and at the end of the day no matter how much I get on his nerves, and how hard of a time I always give him he's never gonna leave me In conclusion, my dad is a blessing, and I wouldn't replace him for all the money in the world. Many people don't have a dad or take their father for granted, but I'm so grateful for mine. He never judges me, and never will, and I know he's "Team Alisha" till the day I die. Therefore, it is safe to say, my father, Ray Williams is my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Descriptive Essay About My Father Every person I have ever met has someone that they are able to look up to and can say that that specific person is their hero. A very important person in my life that has affected me in many ways would be my father. There is so much to know about such a great person. Lance Knight is a mentor, a hard worker, a businessman, an avid ice hockey fan, and a loving dad. Whether he is at home, in the office, or out socializing with friends and family you can always expect a friendly and positive demeanor. My father is one of the most paramount and compelling people in my life due to his love he shares for others, his influential advice, and the countless similarities we have in common. The love that my father has for others shines like the first light of day of a bright Arizona sunrise. His loyalty to his friends and family is unparalleled to others. One example of this would be during the holidays towards his family. He understands that family time is extremely important, which is why he does his best to create memorable experiences that last a lifetime. Another example of this involves his business clients that he takes such great care of. As a financial advisor and money manager for other people, he treats everyone of them as if they were his closest and dearest friends. He understands that effort and hard work put in towards others will pay back in the future. Overtime, a level of trust is built between him and his clients causing them to consistently ask for influential advice. Lance is one of the most influential people I have ever met. The advice that he has given me in the past has helped me through many life situations. This specific characteristic has caused him to be a great mentor and life coach to countless people. What makes him stand out even more is his constant willingness to provide his influential advice to help others. I have even had close friends ask him for advice on certain topics of business within their college courses. Another example of influential advice that he has given happened within the past few weeks towards myself. I had gotten cut from my recent ice hockey team and I was debating on whether to continue playing or instead attend college in December. He was the one that convinced Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. College Admissions Essay: My Father Is My Hero A hero to me is someone that is willing to help other. A hero to me is someone that is willing to do the right thing even if it means that they miss the football game. A hero to me is someone that sees the bad and turns it to into the good. My father fits this description perfectly. When is comes to willing to do the right thing even if they miss something important my father is off the charts. For instance when I was extremely sick he took me to the Urgi–Care even though he would miss the football game. His son came first. Also when I left my coat at pre–school my dad would take me even though he had to get the grouches. When I was younger I was very forgetful. Whenever something bad happens my father always has a way to turn things Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Personal Essay : A Hero Is A Hero : My Hero My Hero It has been said that not all superhero's wear capes. I agree with this statement undeniably. My dad is more than just my hero; he is my best friend. Absolutely one–of–a–kind. He is knowledgeable, hardworking, and also the most loving man I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He loves unconditionally. A remodel, a teacher, and a great example of what a father should be like. There are not enough words in the whole world to show how much he means to me and how much I love him. Have you ever thought about how life would be without motivation nudging you to move forward? My daddy pushes me to do my best each and every day. My two amazing sisters and I would not be the young women we are today if it were not for him there to guide us in the right direction. From late night ball games, to frustrating calculus homework, there is never ending support. I do not know where I would be in life right now if it were not for his constant motivation. Giving is not a strong enough word when you are talking about my dad. He has made so many sacrifices for my family. From driving me hours away from home at the crack of dawn, to moving thirty–seven hours away to a different country to support our family. He is constantly doing whatever he can to make sure my siblings and I have anything we could ever want or need. Along all of these things my father would do anything to help anyone who needs it. Do you ever wonder about what your dad has taught you over the years? Learning to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Personal Narrative-My Hero, My Dad My Hero, My Dad The wind was cold and bit deeply into the skin on my exposed legs and chest. I shivered a little, shielding my face against the cold by putting my back to the wind. Standing alone on the platform, high against the background of the rest of the park sent shivers tightly down my spine. I watched the goose bumps raise neatly on my arms and legs. I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, sighed out my anxieties and jumped. I was quickly being violently thrashed about inside the fiberglass tube, working my way down the cascading waterfall of death. The water slide threw me like a rag doll in the air only to catch me again with the gentleness of Mr. A lifeguard immediately recognized my situation and, accordingly, leapt into the pool, bubbly with the thought of saving a life. He quickly and accurately swam across the watery expanse determined to put his training to use, saving a complete stranger. Lying at the bottom of the pool, I was completely unaware of the goings on up above. All I remember was the hand. My rescuer's hand plunged through the glassy surface above and took a hold of mine. I was drawn from my trance as I was drawn from the water. I immediately gasped for air, thrashing as the oxygen started to fill my lungs. At first I couldn't tell who carried me to the side of the pool, focusing on breathing, feeling like I had never used my lungs before. When I caught my breath, I stared into my lifesaver's face. To my surprise my father's eyes stared back. Astonishing onlookers and baffling the lifeguard on duty, my dad heroically jumped in the water, beat the trained guard to me and plucked me from the blissful waters through his love for his son. All this time my rescuer, my savior, was my own dad. I did not even realize he was near enough to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. My Hero Research Paper A hero is someone who risks, or risked, their lives everyday for someone other than themselves. My hero is my dad. My dad has been there for me since I was born. He has been at my soccer games, softball games, track meets, and cross–country meets. But what makes my dad a superhero is that he is in the air force. That means that he risks his life for other people everyday just by going to work. My family has gone through a lot over the past few years but my dad has helped all of us get through it. My dad has been deployed in South Korea for a year. Even though he is thousands of miles away he has been with us through it all. Over the year we have had to plan and get ready for a big move to Germany. Since he is deployed he has to be alone Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. My Father Is My Hero My Father, My Hero When I was four, I knew I had the greatest dad in the world. My dad always made me laugh, always took care of me when I was sick, and always found time to spend with me outside of work. My dad has been a firefighter for almost 30 years. He started in April of 1995 and has been with Tupelo Fire Department since. My dad started out as a sergeant driving the fire truck when he first began his career as a firefighter. In May of 2016, he was promoted Captain of Station 6 in Tupelo, Mississippi. In a recent interview I had with my dad, I asked him questions about his job. Some questions included what was the toughest part of his job, how it felt when he had to leave his family for work in the morning, and knowing what he knows now about firefighting now, would he go back and change his choice of career. Before this interview, I knew firefighting was a serious job, but I had no idea of some of the incidents my dad had encountered. The interview was heart–felt and could be gut wrenching, depending on the question I asked my dad. My father is my hero, not only because of the lives he has helped, but because he has been the person to always make me laugh through hard times. My dad, Captain Mark Patton, has always found humor in any situation. Even when he has to be serious in calls he is dispatched to, he finds a way to make his samaritans laugh. One question I asked my dad was, "Have you ever received any calls that have been hilarious and just Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 13. My Dad, My Hero Words are powerful beings. They can have good negative connotations, but some words are worse than others and should never be uttered. One word in particular instills fear in all who hear it. A word that is mentally draining and debilitating. That word is cancer. Unfortunately in my short 19 years–of–life, I've heard that word three times. I heard it at six years old when my mother first came down with it and at nineteen when my father and grand–father were diagnosed. It's not just some disease, or medical condition. The definition of Cancer isn't as simple as dictionary.com states; "a malignant and invasive growth or tumor tending to recur after excision and to metastasize to other sites." To those who have been diagnosed, and to the families who have seen their loved ones in a terrible state of being, think that the word cancer is much more. Ever since my mother's passing, I've related that word to something bad, to the pain of a loved one, to the breaking down of a life and to the start of many responsibilities...it's a death sentence. Never did I think I would hear that word again after my mother Paula, but life never ceases to throw people a curveball. I remember sitting in a small room with my father and the doctor. We thought his laperoscopy was nothing to be afraid of, but the doctor knew otherwise. He in fact said cancer and I immediately started to break down. My world was crumbling in on me and I truly though that I was going to be left alone yet again. My Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. My Father Is My Hero My dad is my hero. It was only last week when I was prompted to recall this. When I tore my meniscus five months ago, I underwent surgery in order to remove the damaged tissue. Recovery was going well, but unbeknownst to me, if you do not keep up with your physical therapy exercises, then you will regress in your abilities. I had been running just the week before, but within a week I learned this brutal lesson because I could no longer walk. It was a setback in my running due to overuse and a regrettable lack of motivation to do my physical therapy exercises. Yet as much pain as I was in, this was only like a glimpse into my father's life withcerebral palsy. Due to his shortened hamstring muscles, he is unable to extend his legs fully,...show more content... For clarification, cerebral palsy is a diverse disorder that affects every patient uniquely. It is usually marked by severely diminished motor coordination and spastic muscle qualities. Notably is Melody from the novel Out of My Mind. She is an example of a critical case of CP where she cannot sit upright or talk. However, there are patients on the other end of the spectrum, including my dad. These individuals can control many fine motor movements, and often, they can walk with some aid. It would be easy for my dad to succumb to his circumstances, choose to be inactive, have a negative outlook on life. What is so inspiring about my father is that he did not take this road. Instead he falls into the category with other able–bodied dads: he has an unfortunate choice in calf–length white socks, ancient New Balance sneakers, and a preoccupation with road maps and directions. Here is an image of my father. My mom insisted on taking this picture of him while we were celebrating his most recent birthday. To the unsuspecting viewer, my dad is a jovial man who has just turned 29. One might say that his smile lights up the room as much as the cake. Although he was actually turning 59, the candles turn back the clock 30 years because he has a comical obsession with claiming that he is perpetually 29. I suppose the older one gets, the more denial he or she must feel. This photograph encapsulates my father's personality. He incarnates the phrase "When life gives you lemons, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. My Hero : My Best Friend Yesterday afternoon I lost my teacher, my hero, my best friend, my favorite person––my father. We knew the inevitable was coming three months ago, and my emotions have been all over the place. I have been preparing myself, but it's beginning to hit me and words can not describe how much I'll miss him. Dad was diagnosed with lymphoma of the brain in June, and even though we were warned it might change his personality in a negative way, my father had too much sweetness about him to let that happen. As usual, he faced adversity with courage, grace, and with a smile. He showed us once again how to be an outstanding example of a human being. Dad was tall, strong, handsome, gentle, kind and fun. He had a passion for anything with an engine. He rode motorcycles. After he retired he made a yearly trip to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally with his nephew, Dennis. His boyhood dream was to fly airplanes, and he made it happen. He flew his airplane as long as I've known him, and the last time he piloted his plane was May of this year. He traveled the world while working for Learjet. He loved a slice of pie, a cold beer, animals, his friends and his family. He loved life. A real talker, Dad always had a story to tell about growing up on a north–central Kansas farm with his parents and nine siblings during the 1930's and 40's. He served in the Air Force and then moved to Wichita where he met our beautiful, French–speaking mother from south Louisiana whose job transferred her Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. My Personal Hero Dads are underrated members of society who do not get enough recognition for what they do. My dad is my personal hero because he, along with others, has boosted me up when I needed it most. For instance, when I am sick, he is always the one who takes care of me to make sure I am always on the right track to feeling better. He always comes in to make sure I am doing okay, sometimes even to the point where it annoys me. My dad also helps me with my homework when I need it, and makes corrections where I have made a mistake. Moreover, he has given me encouragement by telling me I could do anything I put my mind up to and more, and I am appreciative because it has given me confidence in areas where I had insecurities. • 18. My Hero Essay What is the definition of a hero? Is hero supposed to be a person who fights crime and saves people from harm's way? Or a person who wears a costume or a cape and use their superpowers for justice? Whenever we think of heroes, characters such as Batman and Superman come to our mind, but what we don't usually consider are the real life heroes we see around us every day who can be anyone from our family, friends to police officers, firefighters and soldiers fighting for our country. I personally believe a hero is someone who has made a positive impact in my life. This person might not feel that the deeds he or she performed have any significance but to me these deeds mean a lot. This person can be someone who was there for me when I needed them the most, supported me during hardships, helped me get on my feet when I was feeling down and gave hope when everything seemed lost. To me my everyday hero is my mother. The reason why I chose my mother as my everyday hero is due to the fact that she is the one responsible for making me the person I am today. When I was young I use to get sick often, I had asthma since a very young age and often during the night I would get asthma attacks. My parents would always get worried if my asthma got really bad, it would often get so bad that they would have to take me to the hospital. My mom would always stay by my side and no matter how bad the situation seemed, I always felt safe being around her. My mom would stay up all night looking after Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. My Dad Essay My father is not a father. Technically, sure he's a father, but in every other meaning of the word he is not. My dad made my life miserable at a young age by acting like a teenager and forcing me to be responsible. At the same time, I learned what is important in life and I have learned from his mistakes. He changed my life for the better. My dad was never meant to be a dad. He still acts like a teenager even today. My father was hired at a factory right out of high school and moved up the ranks to a supervisor, a high paying job, when I was born. he decided to quit seven years later after not getting the manager position he wanted, without having a backup plan. He then became depressed. He was doing nothing and became depressed over the...show more content... Even when my family targets me, I am still there for them and will continue to support them as long as I am able. Through his mistakes my father has taught me what is important in my life. My dad has made more mistakes than I can count, but from every one he has made, I have learned from. The biggest one in my opinion is having kids at such a young age and not having a plan or high paying job. He taught me that family is more important than work. He did not appreciate either and my family is fairly dysfunctional because of it. My father's back–up plan for anything is just spend more money to fix whatever he did or did not do such as missing a court date and him not having a job just leaches off the rest of my family. Some things you must learn by experience. Everyone tells you that drugs are evil and to stay away from them, but teenagers are still curious and will try them out anyway. That is not the case for me as I have personally seen how they destroy lives, kill people, and ruin futures. There is no happiness in them except those few moments when you take them, which can also be hell as well, including right after you take them. My father, being in the drug world has many friends, some decent people with unacceptable habits, most terrible people with worse actions. Over half of my dads "friends" are in prison or jail and about half of them have screwed him or our Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. My Dad Essay The man above all the rest, because of his influence on my life, is my dad. He is so special to me that it's hard to put it in words. My dad is the one who had me knowing in my heart by 7th grade, maybe even sooner, that I wanted to teach someday and that I wanted to coach. My dad was a 5th and 6th grade teacher for 23 years. During these years he coached track, softball, volleyball, and my favorite sport, basketball. I think I probably had a basketball in my hands when I was born! My sisters and I used to travel to games with him on the bus with their crazy bus driver, Mr. Krueger. The team members always welcomed us, and we had a blast. My dad used to say as Mr. Krueger wildly whipped around another corner, "don't you tell...show more content... I have so many vivid memories of my dad in front of a classroom captivating his "audience". I remember during a science lesson on the parts of the body he had middle school students playing "The knee bone's connected to the...". He had the respect of his students and, in return, they worked hard for him. He had the ability and opportunity to influence each and every one of their lives. I hope I will someday have a similar influence on my students. I have many special memories of helping my dad with bulletin boards (not always willingly!), correcting papers (which I did enjoy!), reading stories for contests, and just observing him. My dad's a principal now of an elementary school, but he is probably one of the most visible, active principals I've ever known. My dad plays his guitar and sings during school assemblies. How many principals do that? The kids, teachers, and parents all get a kick out of that. Since he was a teacher for so many years, the teachers feel more like he is "one of them", not an egotistical administrator that feels he is so much better than everyone else. He really loves and cares about the kids. He's so proud of the students in his school, always cutting their pictures out of the paper and having kids be "principal for the day". Many people have influenced me to become a teacher through their example and their sincere concern for me. Some great people listened to me and are now my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
