4. Reflection Paper On Stress
Stress is one of the leading causes of depression in the United States. If stress is not handled right
away it can become distress. Many things in our daily life cause us to feel stressed such as work,
school, or major change that took place in your life. Stress can impact your emotions, attitude, and
health. In this paper, I will be addressing how stress has impacted my life, how stress effects the
body, the signs of stress, and what strategies we can use to reduce stress in our lives.
The stress self–assessment that I took told me about my stress levels is I have a moderate to high
chance of developing an illness in the future. My stress level total was 175 based on the answers I

Stress puts a burden on our health and effects our well–being because it causes a large amount of
negativity that our bodies are not built to handle.
After taking the stress self–assessment quiz, I believe I have developed a new perspective on emotion
, motivation, and stress. I think stress effects both our motivation and emotion because it weights
us down and we tend to feel hopeless. I also realized that our emotion and motivation effects the
way we view our lives and ourselves. I believe motivation and emotion effect our attitude and how
we react to issues. According to (Cooper, 2006), motivation and emotion have positive and
negative characteristics and are also goal related. Motivation gives us energy and positivity and
we give our all into whatever we do. Emotion is what we use to respond to situations or issues.
Emotion involves our behavior and our psychological state of mind. According to (Cooper, 2006),
emotion involves a widespread of responses such as psychological, behavioral, and endocrine
responses, the reflect our experiences to a higher level.
My emotion and motivation have been impacted by stressors in my life because the stress that I
experience in my life causes me to feel depressed and less motivated. Stress does affect my
attitude and the way I view my life. When I am stressed I feel tired more often and very low in
energy. What has helped me to lower my stress levels is to not let negativity

Stress is a killer. There is doubt that stress can cause health problems. Daily stressors lead into
major health problems. Therefore if you can manage your daily stress you can promote a healthier
life. The American Medial Association defines stress, as being any disruptions of a person's mental
and physical well being. (4.) My position is that if you balance the stress in your life you can live
healthier and prevent certain sicknesses. Not all stress is bad for your body. It is good to have
some stress in your life. However, too much stress in your life can be harmful. Stress seems to come
mostly from psychological threats instead of physical ones. Stress varies from person to person. For

There are many ways to reduce or handle stress in your life. The easiest and one of the healthiest
antidotes for stress is laughter. Just smiling helps because it releases blood flow to the brain and
endorphins are released. (4.) This gives a sense of well being. Some other simple techniques are
doing uninterrupted breathing. Another stressor is lack of sleep. Therefore break the
stress–sleeplessness cycle. You can help relieve your sleep problem by developing a daily sleep
routine and don't drink alcohol or caffeine before bed. Another thing is to reserve your bedroom
for sleeping and sex only. (4.) Writing down your feeling in a diary may help relieve emotional
stress. (4.) Time management is a major way to reduce stress. If you can keep a schedule of the
things you need to do and when you have to do them, this can open time for yourself. Try to focus
on the important task and then do the little things. (3.) Many stress experts suggest that you begin
your fight against stress by defining your values. (4.) Don't think that everything has to be perfect. If

stresses most high school student out is picking and choosing what they are going to do after
high school and what college they will be going to if any. People a little bit older after college could

7. Managing Exam Stress Essays
Define stress: Stress is the body's natural response to a threatening situation, and stress causes the
release of hormones such as adrenaline, that prepare the body for its instinctual response to a threat:
flight, fight or freeze. The adrenaline causes processes in your body to change, for example, your
breathing and heart rate quicken, your senses sharpen, muscles tighten and your blood pressure is
raised. These changes allow your reaction time to increase, which could mean the difference between
life and death. However, many people, including students, live in stressful situations every day, and
this has a negative effect of their health.
Factors causing exam–related stress: One of the main causes of exam–related stress is the...show

There is a fear of disappointing a person such as a family member with poor academic results from
exams, or not being accepted into a tertiary institution. This fear motivates the student to do well, but
also creates stress because of the thought of not achieving top marks or being rejected from their
ideal university because of low exam results.
Inadequate exam preparation is a major cause of exam–related stress because the student feels like
there isn't enough time to study everything, and so they lose sleep because of worry or studying late
into the night. There are feelings of despondency and a sense of being overwhelmed by the amount
of work to study. Also, last minute studying lowers the chance of the facts being remembered, which
increases anxiety and stress during exam time. A lack of sleep before an exam, as well as not
having a proper breakfast or vitamin supplement also increases stress levels because the student is
tired, irritable, worried and the student's immune system weakens during stressful times such as
exams, increasing their chance of getting sick.
Learners' responses to exam situations: Nicky Hayes, the editor of Foundations of Psychology, says
that common responses to "exam stress" include disturbed sleep patterns, tiredness, worry, irregular
eating habits, increased infections because of a lowered immune system, and an inability to
concentrate. This is due to the increased amount of adrenaline being released into the body.
Indecisiveness,

Stress
Stress is the "wear and tear" our bodies experience as we adjust to our continually
changing surroundings. It has physical and emotional effects on us and can make good or bad
feelings. As a good influence, stress can help motivate us to do something, or help us through the
day. As a bad influence, it can result in feelings of distrust, rejection, anger, and depression (overall,
make you feel really crappy), which in turn can lead to health problems such as headaches, upset
stomachs, rashes, insomnia, ulcers, high blood pressure, heart disease, and strokes. With the death
of a loved one, the birth of a child, a job promotion (or demotion), or a new relationship, we

As one has seen, positive stress adds anticipation and excitement to life, and we all thrive under a
certain amount of stress. Deadlines, competitions, confrontations, and even our frustrations and
sorrows add depth and enrichment to our lives. Our goal is not to eliminate stress but to learn how
to manage it and how to use it to help us. Insufficient stress acts as a depressant and may leave us
feeling bored or rejected; on the other hand, excessive stress may leave us feeling "tied up in
knots." What one needs to do is find a safe level of stress, which will individually motivate but
not overwhelm them.
A way one can manage stress is to build their physical reserves. This includes exercise for
cardiovascular fitness three to four times a week (moderate, prolonged rhythmic exercise is best,
such as walking, swimming, cycling, or jogging), eat well–balanced, nutritious meals, maintain your
ideal weight, avoid nicotine, excessive caffeine, and other stimulants, mix leisure with work, take
breaks and get away when you can, get enough sleep, and finally be as consistent with your sleep
schedule as possible.
Another way one can manage stress is through breathing control and meditation. Breathing control
includes the "take ten deep breaths" attempt to managing stress. Breathing helps one to calm
themselves, and to think more

Stress is the combination of psychological, physiological, and behavioral reactions that people have

This can cause twitching, trembling, muscle tension, headaches, sweating, irritability, fatigue, and
even dry mouth. I deal with this by just having a positive additude, by knowing that I can complete
the task in front of me and following a few simple rules for myself. By following these a student
that scored high on the stress test can do many things to lower their level of stress. First off, when
dealing with stress a student's physical well being and the attitude of that student need to be
improved. To start this, the student must think positive. Positive thinking not only decreases the
stress level in the body, but it also acts as a confidence builder. Making an effort to stop negative
thoughts and think more towards positive ones changes the total mindset of that student. Instead of
thinking negative thoughts about a test, the student needs to focus on doing well instead. Secondly,
you're encouraged to start an exercise program. Exercise is a major stress reliever. It frequently is
one of the best physical stress–reduction techniques available. It not only improves health and
reduces stress caused by unfitness, but it also relaxes tense muscles and helps to sleep; a much
needed benefit for many students. Exercise has a number of other positive benefits such as: it
improves blood flow to the brain, bringing additional sugars and oxygen, which may be needed when
a student is thinking

some people like rock metal, pop, soul music, jazz and so on. Music could let people's mind feel

Perhaps family and friends cannot help them solve the problems but when they have spoken out

people listen to someone or even they can give one some advice on how to handle or solve the
problems. Sharing not only can be express by talk, it could also express in term of writing such as
diaries, journalist or even letter that one can write every problems, unhappy things. Even people
