The untold story about what really happened after Spider Jerusalem returned Secundus' urn to Max.

2. Spider fumbled with the buttons on Max's waistcoat. "Goddamnit, why do you have to wear such complicated clothing?"

3. "You are the son of my mortal enemy," Max breathed into Spider's neck. "Only one of the many reasons this should not happen."

4. "My, what big... feathers... you have," said Max. "And other things too," Spider replied.

5. You hurt my brother's feelings," Spider breathed. "And he doesn't even remember why you are angry at him. Do you know what I do to people who hurt my brother?"

6. "Do tell," Max said. Spider grabbed his wrists. "Let me know when it hurts.”

9. "This changes nothing," Max said, trying to maintain some sense of decorum. "I still loathe your family." "Yeah, you were really loathing me ten minutes ago," Spider snorted. "And why does this bedroom smell of shoe polish and tweed?" "It's Grandpapa's," Max said. Spider laughed. "Well, now I want to go for round two!“

10. Max slipped on a dressing-gown and went to the entry hall. Grandpapa would be most put out if his clock was so much as a second off when he returned from Three Lakes. He carefully wound the clock, but overwound it when a strong arm encircled him from behind. "Thought you could get away so easily, eh?"

11. Spider nibbled the back of Max's neck as Max attempted to repair the damage he'd done to the clock. "That is not helping," Max said. "Sorry," Spider replied. "Was I supposed to be helping?"

12. Spider pulled Max away from the clock and pinned him up against the fishtank. Salt water sloshed onto Max's robe. "I seem to have gotten your clothes wet," Spider said. "Only one solution for that, isn't there?" "I am not certain that Grandpapa would approve of harm coming to his fish," Max said. "I hear they only have a ten-second memory," Spider said. "No permanent damage done."

14. Max shoved Spider away. "We can both agree that this is a mistake. I think you should leave." He headed for the staircase. "What's the mistake, Max? That you enjoyed yourself for once, you uptight little creep?" Spider said. Max spun angrily. "Perhaps I would be less uptight had your father not murdered mine!“

15. "You want a fucking medal?" Spider asked, his dark eyes glittering. "My father's killed lots of people, including me. None of them turned out to have a stick up their ass like you do." "If I hadn't been raised by my grandfather, I have no doubt that I would be a different man!" Max shouted. "But I am who I am, and I cannot change that!"

16. "You could change if you wanted to," Spider said. "You could allow yourself to have a little fun now and again. Your dear Grandpapa might not, but you're not him." Max wrapped his arms around himself. "I... occasionally regret that I seem incapable of the levity expressed by others around me." Spider grinned. "I bet I could get a little rise out of you."

17. This time, Max did not object when Spider stepped close. "I must admit that it was not an entirely unenjoyable experience." Spider slipped Max's robe off his shoulders. "Which is a very Cecilesque way of saying you liked it."

18. Max huffed a feather out of his face. "I feel as though I should regret this." Spider shrugged. "Eh, it's easier to live without regrets. And don't regret anything that feels that good." "So you enjoyed it as well?" Max asked. "Fuck yeah," Spider replied.

20. Max slid out of his grandfather's bed and located his clothing. He noticed that several buttons were missing from where Spider had lost his patience for unfastening them and had resorted to ripping them off.

21. A taxi pulled up outside.

22. Max rushed to the window. "They're home!"

23. He turned to Spider. "Get dressed and get out! Hurry!"

24. Spider hunted for his shirt and pants, in no particular rush.

25. Max raced to the door. Spider trailed amiably behind.

26. Cecil escorted Cecilia inside. "I see the house is still standing," he said to Max. Then he noticed Spider Jerusalem.

27. "I was unaware that you two were acquainted," Cecil said with a raise of his eyebrow. "He stopped by to drop off father's urn," Max said. "He was just leaving."

28. "Oh, you mustn't leave!" Cecilia said. "Max has so few friends, and I don't know why! He's a funny young man; he calls me 'Mama' even though he cannot be my son!" She grabbed Spider's hand. "Do stay. I shall make cookies for you!"

29. "I do not think that would be an appropriate activity," Cecil said. "The trip has been arduous, and we should ensure that our new companion is settled in." This he said with a slight grimace. "We would all do well to take a short nap before undertaking new projects."

30. Max's stomach fell as he recalled the state of dishabille his grandfather's bedroom was in. That was not an explanation he wanted to provide. "Apologies, Grandpapa, but I seem to have broken your clock." Cecil turned to his beloved clock. "So you have."

31. He peered over at the aquarium. "And the fish seem agitated as well. Have you been feeding them?" "Of course, Grandpapa," said Max.

32. Cecil immediately began repairing his clock. Max dashed upstairs.

33. Flinging the sheets from Cecil's bed out the window, hurriedly replacing them with fresh linens. He knew it wouldn't take long for his grandfather to get the clock working properly again.

34. Though the sheets were clean, the floor looked like an aviary. Max got down on his knees, grabbing all the feathers he could see.

35. He heard Cecil's steps on the stairs.

36. Panicking, he stuffed the feathers under the bed and stood.

37. "Why are you in my room?" Cecil asked. "Just airing it out," Max said, closing the window. "I thought fresh air would be just the thing for you and Mama." "She is baking cookies," Cecil said. "The Sasquatch is minding her. And your friend is in the garden." “My friend? Ah, you mean Spider," Max said. "I would hardly call him a friend. We've only just met, after all.”

38. Max went out to the garden. "What are you still doing here?" he hissed. "You were meant to go!" "Your mom's baking cookies," Spider replied. "I like fresh-baked cookies." Max dragged him around to the far side of the tomb, out of view of the house. "You cannot be here!" he said. "Afraid you won't be able to control yourself?" Spider asked.

39. Spider slid his hand inside Max's shirt. "Who cares if anyone knows?" Spider said. "You do not understand my grandfather!" Max protested. "I understand," Spider said, sliding his hand southward, "but I just don't care." Max's knees buckled, and he wrapped his arms around Spider for support.

40. Cecil coughed delicately. "I am afraid I must ask what you are doing to my tomb."

41. Max pushed Spider away hastily, but his skintight breeches left nothing to the imagination. "Grandpapa!" Max said. "It's not what you think!" "Uh, it's exactly what he thinks," Spider said, nuzzling Max's neck.

42. Cecil fixed the two men with an icy stare. “I had thought you more prudent than this,” he said to Max. “Have you forgotten that you are a Goodytwoshoes, and that Goodytwoshoeses do not perform acts of sexual congress outside of matrimonial bonds?”

43. Spider chuckled into Max’s ear, “Hear that? You’ll never be heir now.” Trying desperately to ignore the Reaper Child, Max said, “I am as much a Marius as a Goodytwoshoes, and my parents did not seem to find intimate contact as distasteful as you do, even if they did wait until after they were married. I am not your son, Grandpapa, and as I am ineligible to be heir for any number of reasons, I hardly think the rules apply.”

44. Cecil narrowed his eyes. “This family was founded on rules.”

45. “And the people who need to follow them have,” Max pointed out. “I feel no such obligation.” “His father killed yours!” Cecil said.

46. Spider looked up at Cecil. “And here I thought you’d be the first one to acknowledge that no one has to be their father, seeing as how yours was batshit insane,” Spider said. “I’m not my father any more than you are yours.”

47. “Neither am I my grandfather,” Max said. “I will not live a joyless life devoid of human contact.” “Do not be foolish, Max,” said Cecil.

48. “I agree,” said Max. “The time for foolishness has passed.” Reaching up, he snared a handful of Spider’s hair, yanking Spider’s head back, crushing his mouth against Spider’s.

49. Cecilia came out of the house, carrying a plate of warm cookies. “I brought these for Max and his friend,” she said. “They seem to be busy, though.” “Quite,” Cecil said sourly.

50. Cecilia smiled. “It’s nice to see Max happy with someone the way I’m happy with Secundus.” Cecil thought of how the man currently engaged in a passionate embrace with his grandson was intended to marry his daughter. He said nothing of it.

51. “Come inside, Cecilia,” Cecil said. “This is not for your eyes.” He sighed. “And I will certainly never look at this tomb the same way again.” Cecilia put the plate down on the pristine white marble and followed her father into the house.

52. Spider allowed Max to be the aggressor, content to let the other man take out a lifetime’s worth of propriety on him. For his part, Max was approaching levels of passion he hadn’t known he had, and, operating purely on instinct, acted only to fulfill his own pleasure. Spider’s groans served to add fuel to Max’s fire. ~*~

53. Spider, wearing only a silver ankh and a grin, rested his head against the cool marble. He reached up and groped around until he felt the edge of the plate of cookies. Grabbing the plate, he set it on the ground and took a cookie. It was still warm. He took a bite. “Good cookie,” he said.

54. Still-liquid chocolate dripped from the cookie in his hand onto his chest. Spider went to swipe it off with a finger, but Max caught his wrist and brazenly licked Spider’s chest clean.

55. “You’re kinda fun when you’re not all buttoned up,” Spider said. “Am I forgiven for hurting Cassidy’s feelings?” Max asked. “Maybe,” Spider said, taking another bite of his cookie. “But then, I’d still have been pissed if you’d accepted his advances, seeing as how you’re totally bad for him.”

56. “But not for you?” Spider laughed, “Cass wanted a relationship. I just wanna make you scream.”

57. Max leaned over and kissed Spider. When he pulled away, he chewed idly. “That is a very good cookie.”

58. “Cookie thief,” Spider said amiably. Sitting up, he grabbed his clothes and began to dress. “You won’t stay?” Max asked.

59. Spider shot him an amused glance. “Not an hour ago, you were begging me to leave.” “We have cookies,” Max said.

60. Spider pulled on his shirt. “Sorry, Max, but you weren’t the only thing I had to do today. Besides, I don’t fancy another chat with dear old granddad.” “Neither do I,” Max said with a grimace.

61. Spider stretched. “Tell your dad I said hello.” “Is that a threat?” Max asked. “Nah,” replied Spider, “just a request.”

62. Max watched the Reaper Child walk away. It seemed that loosening up had quite a bit to recommend it.
