7. As a teacher
Renowned Rajendra Prasadji provided in various
schools as an instructor. After finishing his an M.A degree in
business economics, he also became a lecturer of British at the
renowned Langat Singh Higher education in the area Muzaffarpur
city , state Bihar and also went on to become the major. In
addition, later on he was remaining the school for his lawful
research. However In the year of 1909, while seeking his law
research in city of Kolkata area he greatly proved helpful as

lead, Prasad joined the Indian National Congress and
participated in the non-cooperation campaigns of 1919 and
1921-1922. Forsaking his law practice almost entirely, he
became principal of the National College in Bihar, edited
nationalist papers, and mobilized peasant support for the
movement. During the internal split in the Congress during the
1920s, he was a spokesman for the No-Changer group, which
whole-heartedly supported Gandhi's constructive program,
particularly the production of indigenous cloth (or Khadi) by
hand spinning.
10. The arrival of Mahatma Gandhi on the Indian national scene greatly
influenced Dr. Rajendra Prasad. While Gandhiji was in Bihar to
address grievances of local peasants, Dr. Rajendra Prasad met him.
Initially, he was not impressed with Gandhiji's appearance or
conversation. In time, however, he was deeply moved by the
dedication, conviction and courage that Gandhiji displayed. He
decided that he would do everything he could to help, with his skills
as a lawyer and as an enthusiastic volunteer. Gandhiji's influence
greatly altered many of his views. He reduced the number of servants
he had to one, and sought ways to simplify his life. He no longer felt
shame in sweeping the floor, or washing his own utensils, tasks he
had all along assumed others would do for him. After meeting
Gandhiji, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, dedicated himself to the freedom
struggle.
11. Rajendra Prasad’s contribution to the country is quite an
exhaustive topic as he started off working for the society at a
very young age. It was during 1911, he joined the Indian National
Congress and during one of the meetings of the INC, he met
Mahatma Gandhi during 1916. Rajendra Prasad’s contribution to
Indian Independence started the very minute onwards and there
was no looking back after this meeting. He was so smitten by the
charisma, values, ethics and principles of Gandhiji that during
1920, he resigned his well-paid job as a professional lawyer to
work for India’s Independence struggle. He started the Bihar
Vidyapeeth with the help of his friends wherein the education
system was purely Indian. He started this in order to oppose the
Western education system that was fast growing in the country.
12. In 1911, Rajendra Prasad joined the Indian National
Congress Party and was subsequently elected to the
AICC. During the Champaran movement, Mahatma
Gandhi asked Rajendra Prasad to visit Champaran
along with the other volunteers and partisans of the
Indian National Congress. Initially Rajendra Prasad
was not impressed with Gandhiji's appearance and
conversation but deeply moved by the dedication,
conviction and courage of Gandhi.
13. In July 1946, when the Constituent Assembly was
established to frame the Constitution of India, Dr.
Rajendra Prasad was elected its President. And,
eventually he was also elected as the first President of
Republic of India. Unfortunately, on the night of 25
January 1950, a day before the Republic Day of India,
his sister Bhagwati Devi passed away. He set about the
cremation but only after his return from the parade
ground.

million men and women who inhabit it.”
18. He addressed Republic Day as a ‘day of dedications than of rejoicing’
in one of his republic day speeches. And he proved it while take all
his will power to take the Republic Day salute even when his dearly-
loved sister Bhagwati Devi died on the night of January 25, 1960.
In his special message to the Nation, he said “We must re-dedicate
ourselves on this day to the peaceful but sure realisation of the dream
that had inspired the Father of our Nation (Mahatma Gandhi) and the
other captains and soldiers of our freedom struggle, the dream of
establishing a classless, co-operative, free and happy society.” He
added, “We must remember that this is more a day of dedications
than of rejoicing – dedication to the glorious task of making the
peasants and workers, the toilers and the thinkers fully free,
happy and cultured.”

Dr Rajendra Prasad was a brilliant student since childhood. British examiner was so impressed by reading his answer sheet that he wrote comment on it ‘examinee is better than examiner’. Unfortunately today school situated in Chapra district Bihar, where he studied is in poor condition. Not only physical infrastructure of school is in bad condition, but there is also shortage of teachers. 32 teachers are required, but only 5 teachers are working at present.
