layers of ectodermic tissue. It protects
our muscles, bones, ligaments and
internal organ.
10. LAYERS OF SKIN
• Skin is made up of three parts:-
• Epidermis:- It is the outer most layer of skin. It is not
supplied with blood vessels but has nerve ending.
The main function of epidermis is to form a tough
barrier against the outside world.
• Dermis:- It is the layer of responsible for the skin’s
structural integrity, elasticity and resilience.
Wrinkles develop in the dermis. It is also contains
capillaries (tiny blood vessels) and lymph nodes
which produce immune cells. It contains sebaceous
glands, sweat glands, hair follicles and a small
number of nerve and muscle cells.
• Subcutaneous or Hypodermis:- It is the deepest
layer of the skin located under the dermis and
consisting mainly of fat cells. It acts as a shock
absorber and heat insulator. It protecting underlying
tissue from cold and trauma.
11. TYPES OF
SKIN
There are mainly four types of skin:-
• Normal skin:- It is very good skin type. It is the perfect balance of
water and lipids. It has no or few imperfections, no severe
sensitivity, barely visible pores.
• Combination skin:-It can be dry or normal in some areas and oily

When exposed to drying factors skin can crack, peel or become
itchy, irritated or inflamed.
• Oily skin:- It is caused by over active sebaceous glands. It
becomes heavy and thick in texture. It is typified by shininess,
blemishes and pimples. It is not necessarily bad, since such skin
is less prone to wrinkling or other signs of aging because the oil
helps to keep needed moisture locked into the outermost layer
of skin.

15. P2a:- WHAT IS HAIR?
Hair is a filamentous biomaterial, that
grows from follicles frond in the dermis.
Hair is also an important biomaterial
primarily composed of protein, notably
keratin. Women predominantly grow the
hair on their head long while men cut
theirs short. It protects our skin.
16. PARTS OF HAIR:-
• Hair follicle:-The hair follicle is the point from which
the hair grows. It is a tiny cup-shaped pit buried in
the fat of the scalp.
• Hair bulb:-The terminal part of the hair follicle
seated within the skin is called a hair bulb. The hair
bulb is the structure formed by actively growing
cells.
• Hair shaft:-The part of the hair seen above the skin
is called the hair shaft. The hair shaft is made-up of
dead cells that have turned into keratin and binding
material, together with small amounts of water.
17. TYPES OF HAIR:-
• DRY HAIR:- It will often look dull and will have split ends. Dry
hair may feel itchy and will break down easily.
• OILY HAIR:- It will look greasy and will often have dandruff
problems. It may look good for about a day after a shampoo
wash, but will soon lose its shine and appear lifeless.
• COMBINATION HAIR:- If your head is oily and your hair ends
are dry, you most likely have a combination hair type. It show
both the characteristics of dry and oily hair.
• NORMAL HAIR:- It will appear shiny but won’t fell greasy.

even after a week after washing.

good as the lemon! It is better to use white vinegar mixed with one cupful
