If you’re looking f or a low cost advertising budget, what you might want to do is a do-it-yourself plan, and that
could mean making yourself learn something new.
And you don’t have to go back to school or take night classes either. Between Google and YouTube, you can
pretty much get your own DIY degree!
I try to learn something new every day myself . It not only helps me in my own business, but I’ve been able to
help other people learn things to help in their businesses too.

Today I want to talk about learning something new, and why it’s important to learn something new if not every
day, maybe a couple of times a week, maybe it’s going to be something ongoing.
And I learn a lot of things and have learned how to do a lot of things because I have a zero advertising budget
at the moment. When you join a new networking, or any kind of a business opportunity, whether it’s af f iliate
marketing or launching an ebay store or whatever you’re doing out there, you need to advertise or nobody’s
going to f ind you.
Even if all you’re doing is blogging f or cash to monetize your blog by way of Google Adsense or selling ad
space on your blog, whatever it is, you need to learn – you need to advertise.

sometimes. So while I’m in my moments of clarity I have taken to YouTube and learned how to do a lot over the
last f ew years that has helped of f set the cash part of my advertising budget.

2. Time is Money…
We all know time is money, so even though I’m not investing
cash, I’m still investing in my advertising because I’m investing
my time. So what are some of the things I’ve learned how to
do in my Learn Something New philosophy here?
I’m in a network marketing program and you need to
personalize your gateways. Just about every af f iliate
company, network marketing company, will give you their
stock landing pages, stock email swipes, stock
autoresponders and all of that.
And some companies, in order to access the done-f or-you
pieces of advertising tools, you have to pay extra, so you
have to upgrade. You have to get Gold; you have to, as one of my un-f avorite places says, you have to ‘get all
in.’
When you’re running on a very low budget, you may not be able to upgrade as quickly as you would like to in
order to access all of the neat goodies.
So what I have actually taught myself how to do with PhotoShop and WordPress and html is build my own
landing pages. I’ve also taught myself how to do autoresponders. So instead of using my primary company’s
autoresponder system, I set up my own.
I don’t use the ever-popular AWeber or GetResponse. I use MailChimp. It’s lower end. It might even be a little bit
more tricky to use, but I’m willing to put the time and ef f ort in to build my business until the cash starts coming
in that will allow me to upgrade.
So that’s one thing that you need to teach yourself is to learn something new. If you have the cash to pay
other people to do things f or you, that’s awesome. That is awesome.
I have occasionally gotten to where I’ve jumped over to f iverr and I’ve paid somebody to make a banner f or me
or paid somebody to set something up f or me.
Or I’ve headed over to oDesk.com and posted a job and I’ve paid people to do things f or me. But f or the most
part, I enjoy learned. Maybe it’s a control issue that I need to have my hands on what I’m doing. I need to know
what’s going on so that if I need to edit it later on, I can.
So I’ve taught myself :
• WordPress
• HTML
• PhotoShop
• PowerPoint slides
• Screencasting – screenshot videos
I’ve actually spent the time and taught myself how to do these things because what I have more than money
right now is time.
So I’ve been trying to really use my time wisely and that is I’ll look at the landing page and then I will replicate it
and I may change it up a little bit. It’ll have a dif f erent background or what have you. I might change some colors
around a little bit or whatever.

3. But primarily what I’ve been doing is doing my own landing pages so that when people land on that landing
page, they will be opting into my list. They will get automatically redirected to the f ree training.
Now, that’s where I am paying a monthly f ee to access the give-aways. So the training that I give away is
training on Facebook, Twitter training, lead generation training; it’s awesome stuf f . It’s really awesome stuf f .
And when you’re trying to generate leads or get people to optin to your mailing list, you need to have an
awesome incentive f or them to do that. So through this lead generation tool that I use, I do have to pay a
monthly f ee.
I’m also paying f or my domain names and I’m paying f or my hosting services. And I’m paying a small amount f or
the lower end portion of the autoresponder. And that pretty much exhausts my advertising budget, because I
kind of right now even scraping to pay that.
So the rest of my payment comes in time, because I have the time available. I’m not working a f ull-time job. This
is my primary ef f ort here besides my bookmarks. So I have time available and that’s what I’m investing to learn
something new almost every day.
Not EnoughAdvertising Cash? Invest Your Time & Learn Something New
If you don’t have a cash budget to pay f or advertising then my suggestion is invest your time because it will
come back to you. It’ll come back to you. Once it’s set up, it’s set up, so…
It took me an entire day to do one landing page and get it right. But that landing page is set up so now I have a
template. The next day I was able to do two landing pages. And the other day I sat and did three landing pages.
So I went f rom one to three. Now all my landing pages are set up that I need.
But I know that if I need to set up another landing page, I can just jump right in and use my template and do it.
And it’s the same with domains and adding subdomains or adding directories; using bit.ly to shorten your URLs.
There’s a lot of things out there that yeah, if you have the money, you can upgrade inside your program and
use all of their tools and have it all done f or you.
And if you’ve got the cash to do that, do it. It does make it a lot easier. If you don’t have the cash but you do
the time, learn to do it yourself . It will keep your mind f resh. You’ll know what to do if you run into something
and like, ‘Wow, I need to have that. Well, I’ll just make one myself .’
And that’s what I’ve been doing. So yeah, if you’re short on cash, invest the time. And learn something new –
every day!
