Gram positive cells would be killed by antibiotics that attack peptidoglycan synthesis because their peptidoglycan wall is the outer layer of the cell envelope. Archaea would not be affected by these antibiotics as they do not have peptidoglycan. Gram negative cells also contain peptidoglycan but it is not the outer layer so they may or may not be killed depending on other factors.
