2. Ingredients ¼ oz. dry yeast ½ cup warm water 2 cups buttermilk 5 ½ cups flour ¼ cup sugar 1 ½ tbsp. baking powder 1 ½ tsp. salt ½ tsp. baking soda ¾ cup shortening 2 pounds sliced ham

3. Combine yeast and water, let stand for 5 minutes.

4. Stir in buttermilk.

5. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda in a large bowl.

6. Cut in shortening with 2 forks until mixture resembles coarse meal.

7. Add buttermilk mixture…

8. …stir with fork until dry ingredients are moistened.

9. Turn dough out onto well-floured surface…

10. …knead 4-5 times…

11. Roll dough to ½ inch thickness …

12. …use a cup or glass to cut 2 inch circles…

14. …cover and let rise in a warm place, 1 hour…
