1. When I saw the assignment, I got really excited. I
thought immediately “what am I not looking at?”. It is
curious to hear that there are places which you often visit
in order to buy stuffs, but you don’t actually observe
them. So I started my research..
First I visit a retail store with electronic devices. I chose
this place because it is really huge with an enormous
variety of products. In the sign of the store, however,
there is only the name of the owner and this is confusing.
You cannot understand from the very beginning the
actual variety. The store is not in the center of the town.
You have to go there by car which is a disadvantage. But
when you get there the first thing you see is the big
balcony where there is also a beautiful table to sit. I
haven’t seen that before.
2. Walking in, the first thing you notice is the brightness of
the place. There are many windows so the light is really
strong and bright and that makes smile. But the negative
side of that is the heat. It makes you wanna make your
deals as fast as possible and leave! The ceiling is really
high and that makes the store even bigger.
There is also a beautiful couch near the entrance with
products all around. Another place to sit and the only in
the insides which makes it an opportunity to see the
products on sale. I thought that this is a catching-up idea
to advertise your products.
3. As far as the products are concerned, I noticed that there
is a large variety of many brands and also prices. The
cheapest the product, the better the place taken in the
store. The expensive products such as TVs are in a
special area. Every product has its own sign with details,
so you are not obligated to ask the personnel. Besides
there are only three assistants and so there are almost
always busy. I realized that not having someone to help
you with your choice is not a disadvantage in this case
because you can decide on your own.

5. Next stop was a store which sells floor and bathroom
tiles, faucets etc. This shop is co-located with the
previous but totally different as far as the personnel and
the followed policy. When I went there a saw the
difference. The assistants are wearing uniforms which
make them look really serious and each one has a
personal computer and he is ready to create the best ideas
for your house. They are polite and they immediately
offer you a drink which makes the stay easier. It helps
you forget the heat! The variety is also big.
The interesting thing is that the products are presented in
a very exciting and also practical way. The tiles are
placed on big wooden pieces looking like doors and that
helps you see many tiles just by pulling one “door”. I
6. found that a very clever idea to present your products
because it is a funny procedure and by looking as many
products as possible you may find something that you
like to buy.
7. I also noticed that there are plants in this store which
help the environment became colorful and cozy for the
costumer. Flowers are always attractive especially in a
place where you didn’t expect to see them!
8. The next store I visited was a bookstore. It is placed near
my neighborhood and it is a store from which I buy stuff
since I was at school so it is real familiar to me. When I
was younger I preferred that store because there were all
kinds of books and that made the place colorful. This is a
really attractive fact for a child.
9. However when I started noticed that place, I realized that
there is something that annoys me now. The books are
not well placed on the store at that makes it a real chaos.
It it almost impossible to find the book you are looking
for on your own. You have to ask an assistant to help you
but this is not always easy because most of the time there
are many costumers. That is a real disadvantage that I
didn’t notice before.
The good thing is that there are many samples of the
products so every costumer has the opportunity to try it
before buy it.
Something else I also noticed is that although there is a
mess, the pro of the place is the warm environment.
Everything is wooden, there is music and the assistants
are very friendly with every costumer. They ask personal
questions and that makes you feel happy, which is why
this store has standard customers through the years.

11. The next shop I went to was a pharmacy. I decided to
visit it because although it is a classic professional which
exists centuries this particular store has something really
modern. First of all I liked the colors and the ceiling.
Everything is light purple and beige which makes it
warm and not tiring for the costumer’s eye. The
interesting part is the lightning on the ceiling. It is so
modern that makes you feel like you are on a modern
museum. It’s a real state of the art.
12. The doors open automatically when you stand near to
them so that makes you decide to step in that shop easier.
I found that as a one good market idea.
Furthermore, I noticed that the products are well
organized placed according to the needs of the
costumers. The most commonly bought products are in
the middle shelf so that everyone can reach them.
Something also positive is the light in every shelf that
makes the products look shiny.

14. Near the cashier the pharmacist has placed the cheapest
products such as lip balms. I suddenly realized that this
good market idea because when you finish your purchase
and go to the cashier it is really possible to also buy a
small and cheap product. It is a last minute decision that
brings in profits.

16. Last but not least, I wanted to visit a different place. A
place where I go really often but I am not really sure if I
have ever actually noticed it. So I went to the bank.
The first impressive thing on that place is the double
door with the system of monitoring. To get in you have
to stand and look on the camera. These doors make me
feel safe for some reason. I believe that the more difficult
to get in, the safer the place.
17. Next thing you notice when you get in is the table that
shows the rates every day. It is really informative and
sometimes it consists a reason to go to the bank. That
fact makes possible that I will also make a transaction
with the bank.
18. The positive of this place is the colors. Everything is
grey and blue and that makes the place classical and also
prestigious. You feel trust to invest your money there
instead of going to a red bank for example.
19. Finally I realized that the personnel were all formal
dressed and that make them look serious and educated.
Besides the clothing is a way to express and
communicate feelings. They kindly asked me what I
want and served me as fast as possible. I believe that that
was the reason why there was on line on the cashier.
According to all these above, I somehow realized that
every kind of store has a secret way to send customers
their messages and so make them prefer their products. I
noticed that although they cheapest products are in easy-
to-access places, the most expensive are always on the
best place with the best light and advertise. To my
opinion, colors, lights and music are the best marketing
ways that attracts the majority of the customers and that
means creativity on business.
