3. Stanley investigates
Just before Stanley was due to leave Point View School,
he decided that it was time to investigate a bit more
and find out a" about New Zealand...
4. Stanley discovered that New Zealand is a fascinating
place, fi"ed with forests and glaciers, mountains and lakes,
beautiful ta" native trees and punctuated by the
sounds of native birds such as the Kiwi, the Tui and
Kakapo.
9. The South Island
The south island is much colder than the north.
The winters are %eezing and the summers are long
and hot. The glaciers and snowy mountains
attract skiers %om a" over the world.
12. Stanley has learnt that we have lots of languages
and nationalities in New Zealand.
Our 2 main languages are English and Maori.
The indigenous people of New Zealand are Maori
people but the English settled here in 1840.
13. We introduced
Stanley to another
class - our Year 1
children LOVED
the story!
Plus they
LOVED meeting
your Flat
Stanleys!
14. So what have WE learnt %om hosting
your Flat Stanleys?
We have learnt about co"aborating with others.
We have learnt that we live in a truly global
society now.
We have realised how SMALL New Zealand
is and how BIG our school is!
We have learnt that a %iend does not have to
live where you are to be your %iend.
