2. MARCH 2010

4. Benchmarks (Grades 3-5) The final benchmarks, before the End of Grade testing (EOGs), will be held on March 16th – the 18th. This is the last opportunity for students to prepare before taking the official EOGs. 6th Grade Registration Meeting On Tuesday, March 9, 2010, Fifth graders will have a meeting at 9:30am to learn all of the information needed when moving on to middle school.

5. 5th Grade trip to Charlotte on March 10th, 2010 On March 10th, Irving Park fifth graders will take a field trip to the Discovery Place in Charlotte, NC. Discovery Place is dedicated to providing high-quality, high-energy science experiences that enlighten, educate, and inspire. There are plenty of activities and programs for all ages.

6. Battle of the Books (BOB) On Thursday, March 11th, 2010, 4th and 5th graders from Irving Park will compete in the district’s Battle of the Books Challenge.

7. Irving Park’s Jump Rope for Heart Jump Rope for Heart will take place on March 2nd – 9th. The very last day for donations will be March 10th. 8. Irving Park PTASpring Book Fair The Irving Park PTA will host a spring Book Fair on March 22 -26. All proceeds go to the Media Center and funds will allow us to purchase many new books. Our current focus is science and easy/fiction books. Watch for an appearance by Clifford the Big Red Dog on March 23 at 6:30pm.

9. Parent’s Night Come out and meet Clifford the Big Red Dog here at Irving Park. March 23 at 6:30pm.

10. March Music Programs Second & Third Grade Performances Tuesday, March 23 Second Grade 10:00 am and 6:00 pm Third Grade 12:00 pm and 7:00 pm All performing students are asked to wear white shirts and dark colored shorts.
