5. It is a good idea to give the parents an overview of what the curriculum contains for the year. A syllabus can be given out to the parents on this night as well.
6. Technology should be incorporated into the teacher’s presentation to the parents. It is always good for the parents to see how their children will be learning. Tutoring can be discussed. Let the parents know when you are available to tutor.
7. It is a good idea to give parents a brief overview of your history. Tell them about where you went to school and in what area(s) you are certified. Avoid telling them it is your first year!

13. Parent-teacher conferences may or may not include the child. Some schools practice students led conferences, where the students speak with their parents about their performance and grades in class with their teacher present. Other times the conferences are led by the teacher, or teachers of the child’s team.

18. Math clubs fosters interest and enthusiasm for mathematics through preparing members for math competitions, develop and sponsor math contests , and/or to become familiar with math topics outside of the high school standard curriculum.Math Contests & Clubs
During back to school nights, rules and expectations are established. Curriculum outline and syllabus are given to parents as expectations of what their children will be learning in your class.Basically, you are introducing yourself to the students and their parents. Make sure all important information are covered, such as school guidelines, tutoring, background history, certifications, etc. Make sure to let parents know you are flexible in your teaching methods, which means you can incorporate technology in their education.
Open House is conducted at the end of the school year. This is the opportunity for students and teachers to work together to present what the students have learned this school year to parents. Presents any products that shows students’ progress and knowledge in the course.
