Question 4 and 5
1.
2. My target audience: age
My target audience are people aged from 12
to 20, I have chosen this age range because
12 is the starting age in which action films are
released as. As my film has only got violent
content so it would be rated as a 12 which is
good because I will have a wider age range in
my target audience. I chose 20 to be my end
age because even though people older than
20 go to watch action films it is mainly
teenagers that watch fighting based action
films so 20 is the right age to stop the scale
because it is when you stop being a teenager.
3. Gender
The gender of my target audience is
male because it is a fact that males
enjoy action films more than women do
so aiming my film at males is the best
option to impress my target audience.
Due to the violence and thrill in action
films it attracts a lot of male viewers,
that’s why my target audience are males
aged 12 to 20.
4. Attracting my audience
Attracting the audience is on of the most
important things when making a film, to
attract my audience I used techniques
that would show action that appeals to
people not too violent but at the same
time violent enough to intrigue people.
The content in my film was also
relatable to teenagers because of the
age of the actors in my film.
5. As well as having actors that are
teenagers, teenagers can also relate to the
clothing that my characters wear and how
they act for example my characters are
dressed as generically as possible keeping
it simple with a black hoodie, black jeans
and for Dan a hat and jumper. I chose
these outfits because it is what the majority
of teenagers wear on a day to day basis.
When they see actors just like them it
makes them feel connected to those
characters engaging them more to the film.
6. To really connect with my target audience I based the gang in my film
around actual teenage ‘gangs’ that I have seen. Doing this adds a
lifelike feel to the gang and makes the audience think that the
characters are real. Also by doing this the audience are able to relate to
the characters because every teenager has walked past a gang of
some sort and felt uneasy so they are able to understand how my main
character is feeling when he is confronted by the gang.
