offer a wider range of information.
• Engage individuals as brokers within their social networks
by bridging two networks that are not directly linked.
• Introduce individuals to change agents and opinion
leaders who often play major roles in spurring the

• CLOSED NETWORK - What is a closed network and
redundant ties?
• THEY ARE SMALLER, TIGHTER BOUNDED NETWORKS
• The type a social network helps determine a network's
usefulness to its individuals. Smaller, tighter networks can
be less useful to their members than networks with lots of
loose connections to individuals outside the main network.
• In other words, a group of friends who only do things with
each other already share the same knowledge and
opportunities than closed networks with redundant ties

BUILD BRIDGES
BUILD BRIDGES THROUGH ACCEPTANCE OF SELF & OTHERS
• Help others feel comfortable around you (i.e., vulnerable) & new social situation.
• People tend to change and obtain perspectives and look for new options, choices,
and solutions. When you move about freely, you can easily generate many new
ideas and a supportive atmosphere. When you maintain this balance of movement
you maximize equality of mutual value, and cooperation.
