RUNNING HEAD: Analyzing Issues and Need and Identifying Mediators of Change 15 Analyzing Issues and Need and Identifying Mediators of Change Kaplan University September 16, 2014 NS-600 Deserie Thomas Professor Kimberly Brodie Before you design any nutrition education intervention, whether it is a few sessions or a larger program with several components, it is important to determine your intervention focus and identify your intended primary audience. When those have been determined, you will need detailed information on the behaviors and practices that contribute to the issue or problem you have selected as your intervention focus. Step 1 worksheets will help you conduct assessments to obtain the information you will need. Think of yourself as a detective as you work through these worksheets. You are trying to find out as much as you can to determine which core behaviors or behavioral goals will be the targets for your educational sessions. The information you collect may be quite extensive, depending on the scope and duration of your intervention, and will vary by category. Cite information sources (e.g., journal article, government report, observation, interview) used in the worksheet in a bibliography at the end of this step. At the end of the Step 1 worksheets, you should have products for Steps 1A, 1B, and 1C as follows: Step 1A: Health issues or needs (one or two) and primary intended audience for the nutrition education intervention. Examples are “overweight in teenagers” or “low rates of breastfeeding in a low-income audience.” Step 1B: High-priority behaviors contributing to the selected issues. A set of one to a few nutrition-related behaviors or community practices that contribute to the health issue(s) that you identified. Step 1C: Statement of the program’s behavioral or action goals. The behavioral or action goals describe the purpose or behavioral outcomes for the program in terms of behaviors or community practices. Use these worksheets as guides to help you identify program behavioral goals. Cite information sources in the text and add references to the bibliography at the end of the step. Electronic versions of these worksheets are available at http://nutrition.jbpub.com/education/2e. If you are unable to access the worksheets electronically, you can write onto this blank worksheet or create a text document that uses the same flow of information. Step 1A: Issues and intended audience Describe the demographics of your audience (e.g., age, subgroup, and ethnicity) and the location of the site. The Watts Healthcare Corporation is a non-profit organization, is where the Diabetes Education Program will be initiated. It is community based clinic that provides health services to low-income families in the community. The Diabetes Self-Management Education Program will focus on low-income individuals in the community, from ages 15-70, African Americans and Hispanics population diagnosis with diabet ...

Khizar Hayat Public Health Foundation Type two diabetes Assessment Coversheet and Feedback Form Faculty of…. School of…. First Marker Name: Aldo Mussi First Marker Signature: AM Date: Jan’20 Feedback: General comments on the quality of the work, its successes and where it could be improved Hi Khizar - Thank you for submitting your work. However, there are a number of things which must be strengthened to bring it up to Level 7 standard. Right from the background, good, recent sources are often lacking, and your exploration of causes is far too brief (Indeed, you don’t even refer to a basic ‘energy in – energy out’ equation for T2D). Your selection of interventions appears arbitrary and poorly supported, with no real attempt to examine ‘Health-Evidence-People’. Crucially, for Level 7 work, some attempt at critical analysis is needed. You could use your Beattie model to analyse the interventions, and your ethics discussion should apply a framework to those interventions. The policy discussion should examine a current government example. A number of whole paragraphs are without a source, so you referencing needs serious attention. Provisional Uncapped Mark Marks will be capped if this was a late submission or resit assessment and may be moderated up or down by the examination board. 37 % Feed Forward: How to apply the feedback to future submissions Please arrange a tutorial to debrief this feedback, and seek support from the Centre for Academic Success. Table of Content Contents INTRODUCTION 4 BACKGROUND 4 PUBLIC HEALTH INTERVENTIONS OF TYPE 2 DIABETES 6 Beattie’s Model of Health Promotion 10 ETHICS 11 HISTORY AND POLICY FOR TYPE 2 DIABETES INTERVENTIONS 12 CONCLUSION 12 REFERENCES 13 Type two Diabetes and Public HealthINTRODUCTION Type 2 Diabetes was chosen to be the topic of discussion in this assignment as it is a common type of diabetes, making it a public health issue. This occurs when the blood sugar level has surpassed the normal level, basically the blood sugar, comes from the food eaten and I is the main source of energy needed to run our bodies. Whereby hormones made by the pancreas and insulin aids the glucose to get into our body cells to provide the energy needed. The connection comes in whereby the glucose or blood sugar level is much more than needed which makes the insulin not to be enough or the insulin that is present is not used well. Basically, that is the general description of type two diabetes. Therefore, the result is that too much sugar remains in the blood and the cells lack enough to run the body on a daily basis. This type of diabetes mainly affects people of every age, it cannot be considered as a condition for only people. This type of diabetes affects at every age even age childhood. Comment by Aldo Mussi: Rethink this (with Refs). But generally, it affects most people who are middle aged and older people, especially under predisposing aspects such as family history of diabetes and obesity. Based on demo ...

Overview: Join Dr. Faiza in this in-depth lecture on cardiac impulse and the rhythmical excitation of the heart. This presentation covers the intricate pathways and mechanisms that ensure the efficient conduction of electrical impulses through the heart, leading to coordinated myocardial contractions. Attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of the normal sequence of cardiac depolarization, the specialized conductive pathways, and the ionic basis of pacemaker potentials. Learning Objectives: Trace the normal sequence of cardiac depolarization via specialized conductive pathways and cardiac myocytes. Illustrate the velocity of conduction of cardiac impulses through these pathways. Draw and label a typical pacemaker action potential. Describe the ionic basis of various phases of the pacemaker potential. Key Topics: Generation of Impulse: Mechanisms of rhythmical excitation in the heart. Conduction of Impulse: How impulses are transmitted and why atrial syncytium contracts ahead of ventricular syncytium. Specialized Excitatory & Conductive System: Detailed examination of the SA node, AV node, bundle branches, and Purkinje fibers. SA Nodal Action Potential: Phases of pacemaker potential, ionic movements, and self-excitation mechanisms. Transmission Pathways: Role of anterior and posterior fascicles, internodal, and interatrial pathways. Clinical Significance: Implications of delayed conduction and conditions like Stokes-Adams syndrome and ectopic pacemakers. Target Audience: This lecture is tailored for medical students, physiology scholars, healthcare professionals, and anyone interested in cardiac physiology and the mechanisms of cardiac impulse conduction. It is particularly beneficial for those preparing for exams or seeking to enhance their clinical knowledge in Applied physiology of cardiovascular system and internal medicine.

A transition period regarding in vitro medical device (IVD) regulation in the European Union (EU) is upon us. The former IVDD regulations are phasing out and IVDR 2017/746 has already taken its place as the acting regulation for IVD manufacturers but also lab developed tests (LDTs) and health institutions. In our upcoming webcast we will talk about the roles and significance of IVDR and ISO 13485 certification for clinical labs and for Golden Helix as a medical device manufacturer. Join us as we will introduce VarSeq 2.6.1 complete with Dx Mode, which offers the use of VarSeq as CE marked medical device. Even more we will also present strategies to facilitate the transition of Golden Helix customers to operate in accordance with IVDR.
