2. Introduction Of Social
Entrepreneur  One Laptop per Child (OLPC) is a project

supported by the Miami-based One
Laptop per Child Association (OLPCA) and
the Cambridge-basedOLPC
Foundation (OLPCF), two U.S.
non-profit organizations set
up to
oversee the creation of affordable
educational devices
for use in the
developing world. The project was
originally funded by member
organizations such as AMD, Chi Mei, eBay
, Google, Marvell Technology Group,
News Corporation, Nortel, Red Hat, and
Quanta.
In the first years of the project, the Association managed
development and logistics, and the Foundation managed fundraising
such as the Give One Get One campaign. In 2010 the Association
set up a new office in Miami under Rodrigo Halaby, and currently
oversees deployment and support for the XO-1.5 laptop and its
successors, and country partnerships.

BECA -- which means "scholarship"

in Spanish -- is short for the
BECA.org Foundation, Inc.
 We are a U.S. 501(c)3 non-profit
organization that began working in
Nicaragua in August, 2008. Our
field office is located in the city
of Masaya.
Our mission is to offer educational opportunities for Nicaraguan high
school graduates who are serious about continuing their education,
but cannot afford to do so.
We carry out our mission by faciliating and supervising technical
school scholarships for those candidates that complete a six-month
qualification process we call "Course One." (See how we work.)
BECA envisions a future where all Nicaraguan high school graduates
share the same educational opportunities.
BECA is apolitical and secular.

The World Food Programme (WFP), (
French: Programme Alimentaire
Mondial, Italian: Programma
Alimentare Mondiale), Spanish
:Programa Mundial de Alimentos) is
the food assistance branch of the
United Nations, and it is the world's
largest humanitarian organization
addressing hunger.[1] WFP provides
food, on average, to 90 million people
per year, 58 million of whom are
children.[2]
From its headquarters in Rome and more than 80 country offices around
the world, WFP works to help people who are unable to produce or
obtain enough food for themselves and their families. It is a member of
the United Nations Development Group and part of its Executive
Committee.[3]

We aim to provide each child with a rugged, lowcost, low-power, connected laptop. To this end, we
have designed hardware, content and software for
collaborative, joyful, and self-empowered learning.
With access to this type of tool, children are
engaged in their own education, and learn, share,
and create together. They become connected to
each other, to the world and to a brighter future.

Born in 1961, WFP pursues a vision
of the world in which every man,
woman and child has access at all
times to the food needed for an
active and healthy life. We work
towards that vision with our sister
UN agencies in Rome -- the Food
and Agriculture Organization (FAO)
and the International Fund for
Agricultural Development (IFAD) -as well as other government, UN
and NGO partners.

On average, WFP reaches more
than 90 million people with food
assistance in 80 countries each
year. About 12,000 people work for
the organization, most of them in
remote areas, directly serving the
hungry poor.
 In emergencies, we get
food to where it is
needed, saving the lives
of victims of war, civil
conflict and natural
disasters. After the cause
of an emergency has
passed, we use food to
help communities rebuild
their shattered lives.
 WFP is part of the United
Nations system and is
voluntarily funded.
