• Action verbs: represent something one can do.
• Physical actions: Swim, jump, run, sneeze
• Mental actions: dream, hope, wish, think
• Linking verbs: are verbs demonstrating relationship to
subject.
• To be verbs, 5 senses verbs.

5. Transitive vs. Intransitive Verbs
• Transitive verbs are action verbs that require a direct
object.
• The direct object answers what or whom.
• A direct object is a noun that refers back to the verb.
• The boy swung the bat.
• She picked up the paper.
Intransitive verbs- don't require a direct object
• The boy swung wildly.
• My dad goes to work.
