3. THE RIOT CLUB
The Riot Club a 2014 film carries the genre drama and thriller with
the tag lines ‘filthy rich’ and ‘spoilt rotten’. The film has an R rating
due to language, disturbing and violent behaviour, sexual content,
nudity and drug use.
It was written by Laura Wade and directed by Lone Scherfig.
It stars the actors Sam Claflin, Max Irons and Douglas Booth.
The film is based on Wade’s 2010 play Posh.
The film focuses on two characters who our first-year students at
Oxford University. The join the infamous Riot Club, where reputations
can be made or destroyed over the course of a single evening.
The first trailer was released on 16th May 2014.

Film4 costs £5.99 a month, eventually rising to £7.
Film4 invests around £500,000 per film, at a rate of around 20 films
a year.

5. PRODUCTION : FUNDING
The Riot Club was based on Wade’s 2010 play ‘Posh’.
The shooting of the film began on 30th June 2013 in Oxford, England.
The Riot Club received £1 million of funding from the British Film Institute.
On 5th Febuary 2013 news reported that HanWay wad boarded storyboards
for the film which is an adaptation of Posh. Producer Graham Broadbent and
Pete Czernin set to produce with BFI Film Fund and Film4 Productions.
On 15th March 2013 four actors; Robert Pattinson, Sam Claflin, Max Irons
and Douglas Booth were in circling around the cast to join as lead. This later
concluded with the lead role being taken up by Max Iron on 18th March.
On 19th May 2013, Sam Chaflin also joined the cast of the film. Followed by
Douglas Booth.
On 20th May 2013, Universal Pictures International acquired the film for UK
and Irish rights.

The British Film institute is a charitable organisation which promotes
and preserves filmmaking and television in the United Kingdom.
It was established by Royal Charter to encourage the development of
the arts of film, television and the moving image.
It was founded in 1933 with the chief executive being Amanda
Nevill.

8. PRODUCTION
The film for The Riot Club began on 30th June 2013 in Oxford,
England. The crew were spotted during the ilming of some scenes at
Magpie Lane.
Filming was also taken place at Pinewood Studios and Win
chester College.
Film editing was done by Jake Roberts.
The special effects were done by Graham Aikman, Neal Champion
and Luke Corbyn.
The visual effects were done by Simon Giblin and Dolores McGinley.

14. PREMIERE AND AWARDS
The Riot Club was premiered on September 6th 2014 at the Toronto
International Film Festival. In Germany it was first shown on the 26th
September at the Film Festival in Hamburg and the officially went into
cinemas on October 9th 2014.
Abu Dhabi Film Festival 2014: nominated for Best narrative film.
