1. Graphic Organizer Assignment
For this assignment, you will be working in group of two or three at the most to create a graphic
organizer called a Big Paper. You will be provided with the paper used for this assignment and
will also need a couple different colored pens for each member of the group. The other option,
is to create the graphic organizer on a word document, it is up to the group to decide. Please
provide your name in your color pen or on your word document in the color ink you will be
typing with at the top of the paper. All of the groups will be given the same question that will
be written in the middle of your Big Paper. That question for this assignment will be, “What are
3 major bones or bone sets that protect our bodies and what are 7 bones that help with
movement?” You will need to explain what each of those bones roles are and how they help us
to be active. This assignment will be done in silence and the ideas you brainstorm will be
discussed at the end. You will each take turns writing on the Big Paper, passing it around to
each group member in silence. Questions, comments and concerns will be written on the paper
for your group members to comment back on and will not be talked about aloud until
instructed by me. You may also draw or insert any pictures or images that may assist in the
understanding of the content or answering of the question. Use as many bubbles as you need
throughout the assignment. As you continue to generate ideas, keep in mind the task at hand
and what the main question is. Then, you will be instructed by me to start traveling around the
room with your group members, still in silence, and you will all read the ideas of other groups
and make comments with your pen that you bring along with you. Keep your comments or
questions constructive and helpful. After all students have gone around the room to write their
comments in silence, I will instruct students to return to their Big Papers and begin talking
aloud about their Big Paper. Lastly, we will have a class discussion aloud with our Big Paper and
talk about our ideas and thoughts about others ideas, again, staying constructive and helpful.
This will help us to gain knowledge we did not know or did not fully understand from others
around us and to be helpful to classmates so everyone has a chance to succeed.
