๏ New scheme introduced by government in 2011 to
provide green space to citizens in urban areas
๏ Till date over 30 tree parks are in various stages of
development, 8 are being visited.
๏ Tree parks are envisioned to act as centres of
excellence for conservation of forest biodiversity
๏ Communities experience nature in their neighbourhood
and develop attitude & culture for conservation.
๏ Tree Parks function as providers of health, ,harmony
and peace to urban communities
๏ Tree Parks save the valuable government and forest land
from threats of encroachment
2. The Features of Tree Parks:-
๏ Extent - 100 Ha approx, foresl land
๏ Protection by chain link mesh or compound wall-then green wall
๏ Soil & Water conservation works, Rain water harvesting.
๏ Per Ha 400 Plants of indigenous species of fruit, flowers & community use.
๏ Themes- Pavitra vana, Biodiversity Groves, Arboratum, Medicinal plants.
๏ Childrenโs play area.
๏ Walking paths, nature trails. Treks
๏ Pergola/watch tower.
๏ Drinking water, Rest rooms, Benches.
๏ Signages

๏ In and around Bengaluru, 5000 hactares of land
available for developing tree parks
๏ Provide much needed common green space to the city
dwellers under stress
๏ Can serve as nature education hubs and
demonstration sites for eco friendly technology
