2.  Bass prefer to live in sheltered places such
as shaded areas, brush, and lilly pads.
 largemouth bass live in fresh water only
 Bass can live in a range of ponds or lakes
from small to large
 Bass are often not the only species of fish
living in their habitat.

3.  Bass will often come to feed in the shallow
water
 Bass feed on many species of insects
 Bass feed on other species of fish such as,
crawfish, sunfish and trout
 Bass only feed on sunfish and trout when
they are young and small
 Bass also feed on worms and frogs

4.  Bass fishing is a popular pastime for many
people all over the world
 Bass fishing tournaments are held in many places
as a competitive sport
 Professional fisherman make a living off of
catching these fascinating creatures
 Fun fact: The largest bass ever caught was 22
LBS! Wow!

5.  Because of largemouth bass’s size, it has
few predators
 Bass are preyed on by birds when they are
young
 Bass are caught and eaten by humans

6.  Females lay 2000-7000 eggs per pound of
her body weight
 Bass get ready to spawn in 1-4 foot deep
water, and at about 60 degree water
 Males guard the eggs
 Baby bass are known as “Fry”
 Fun fact: males refuse to eat until the eggs
hatch!
