3. Bibliographies The ability to create bibliographies is one of the most attractive features of RefWorks and probably the main reason you are interested in using it You have to have a database, that is, you have to have imported references into RefWorks to be able to make a bibliography, however See the handout, Registering for an Account and Setting up a Database, for details
5. Choose Your Output Style The most popular styles for bibliographies appear in the Output Style list in the “Create Bibliographies” window. Note: If you use additional styles found in the Output Style Manager, they will automatically float to the top of your list.
6. Output Style Manager Use the Output Style Manager to select from the hundreds of other styles available. Highlight the Style you want, then click the forward arrow to send it to the Favorites list. You can also remove Styles from your personal Favorites list (The CBU Favorites are controlled by the RefWorks administrator for campus).
7. 2 Methods of Selecting References to Appear in a Bibliography
14. Choose a folders to generate a bibliography quicklyNote: be careful to remove duplicates or you could get multiple references to the same work in a single bibliography.
15. Create Bibliographies using “My List” Select the items you want to appear in the bibliography Go to the Folders dropdown and put them in “My List” Create the bibliography, choosing “My List” when prompted
16. Special Feature - Using the Print Icon to Generate a Bibliography If you use the RefWorks Print command instead of “Create Bibliography,” you can control the order the references—alphabetic by author, in ascending or descending order of publication, etc. The Print command works with “My List” and with folders. [When you use “Create Bibliography,” RefWorks follows the rules of the style in generating order.]
