One sunny day, Regine and her father have just moved to their newly-finished house.âRegine, I need some paint for the house. Do you want to go to town with me?â Daddy asked.Regine said, âYes! Can we look at the toy store too?ââYes,â said Daddy.
So they hopped into the car and went to town.
When they got to the store, Daddy said, âStay here by the cash register while I help the man put the paint into the car.â
Regine stood and stood. She waited and waited.
She looked and looked.
Then, Regine, saw the toy counter.
She saw a Barbie doll. She went to see it.
Then she saw a bright blue drum. She went to see it too.
Then Regine saw all the bicycles. She went to see them. She sat down on them. Suddenly, Regine looked up. She felt scared. âWhere is Daddy?â Regine got up.
She walked past the appliance store and asked the salesman.
âExcuse me. Have you seen my father? He is tall and he is wearing a gray shirt.âThe salesman replied, âI am sorry little girl, but I didnât see your father, maybe he is a bit farther away from here. Try to look at the lampshade store.ââThank you, Sir.â
Regine hurried up until she reached the next store, then she met the store owner.
âGood day. Iâm looking for my father, have you seen him anywhere? He is tall and he is wearing a gray shirt.ââGo away, little girl! Iâm busy and I donât know where your father is. Shoo!â
Regine left the store disappointed. She walked by and by until she reached the next store. Unfortunately, she didnât see her father anywhere.
In there, Regine felt like crying. Her stomach hurt, she felt alone.
All of a sudden Regine remembered something that her father told her not long ago.
âJesus is always with us, Regine. When weâre afraid, we can talk to Jesus.âSo Regine said, âJesus, Iâm scared, will you please help me?â
Regine heard a voice say, âRegine where are you?âIt was her father. Regine said.âIâm here, father!â
Regine ran to her father and hugged him tightly.âIâm sorry, father. I was really scared, I was lost. I was alone.â
âYou didnât obey me Regine. Please donât do this again.ââI promise I wonât, Daddy,â promised Regine.
