Like any other book, “The Girl in Room 105” title also contains a number likes ‘2 States’, ‘Five Points Someone’, ‘Revolution 2020’ etc. Having a number in the title has become the trademarked style for Bhagat. The book also has a lot of comedies for laugh and witty one-liners that you will enjoy.
However, something is different in the book. The book cover is not cartoonish like Bhagat’s other books. There is a photo of a real girl in the cover. The first impression from the cover is clear. This is also a romance book but with elements of mystery and tragic. There is no happy ending in the book this time.

6. “Whatever is happening in India today will often be found in
my stories. I felt that many stories had come about Kashmir,
but almost all of them directly went into the militancy aspect
of the state. There’s more to Kashmir, and keeping it as a
backdrop of an investigation increased the tension (of the
story). The hero’s father being in the RSS and his girlfriend
being a Kashmiri Muslim also lends an interesting conflict to
the story, and I had a chance to show the prejudices we live
with, in India today.

7. Let’s talk about the storyline
◈ Keshav Rajpurohit is an IIT pass out who, much to the chagrin of his proud family
members, is teaching in a JEE coaching centre in Delhi. He is still in love with his ex-
girlfriend, the beautiful Kashmiri Muslim, Zara – who broke up with him 4 years ago. Ever
since then Keshav has been pining for her love despite every practical advice against it.
◈ What seems like an ordinary unsuccessful love story, turns into something different
altogether when one day, on the eve of her birthday, Zara messages Keshav out of the blue.
Drunk, and already in half his wits, he readily agrees to meet her by sneaking into her hostel
room (room no 105) in the dead of the night, just like he used to do years ago when they
were still dating.
◈ This one mistake changes his life forever. Unknowingly he does what he should never have
done. Now, he is caught in a whirlwind of events and it doesn’t seem that there is a way out.

13. The Concept of terrorism in this book
• What distinguishes ‘The Girl in Room 105″ from other Chetan
Bhagat book is that the story in addition to his usual quintessential
Bhagatian stuff has also a powerful socio-political message. It has
messages for readers about Kashmiri and Terrorism. We
applaud Bhagat for this. Considering his large fan base, the
message will surely strike a chord with his readers.
