2. Shot type/ Camera movement Narrative
Scene 1, shot 1: Birds eye view medium
close up. Natural light used from bedroom
windows.
Left screen is in colour
Right screen is in black and white
throughout until later scene.
This is the start of the video. Audience is
introduced to two main characters who are
asleep. Character 1 (left) appears to be
wearing a lot of make up and dressed for a
party. Character 2 appears to be more natural
in her sleep and at peace, but can seen to have
been crying at some point.
Scene 1, shot 2: Birds eye view medium
close up, camera zooms in slowly towards
characters faces. Natural light coming in
from windows.
Scene 1, shot 3: Camera is placed at the end
of the bed, medium shot on characters
upper body. Camera remains still.
Scene 1, shot 4: Camera is in shallow focus
on the bedside table medium close up. Girls
can be seen next to the tables but are
slightly blurred and out of focus.
Scene 1, shot 5: Camera remains in position
but close up shot is used to indicate what is
on the table. Hand comes into shot but
camera remains still.
The characters awake and open their eyes at
the same time. Indicating the start of their day.
They lie still until the camera cuts to the next
shot.
The characters sit up casually and either rub
their eyes or stretch to make them waking up
look realistic as this is what most people would
do.
A shot of the table shows that there are
some objects on the table. This includes a
mobile phone for each character.
The close up of the mobiles allows the
audience to see that these have a relevance
to the characters as they reach for them.
Stating that they may be expecting someone
to be in contact with them.

3. Shot type/ Camera movement Narrative
Scene 1, shot 6: Close up of mobile phone
from characters perspective.
This allows the audience to see that the two
characters have plans for today and that the
girl on the left is meeting her boyfriend, whilst
the girl on the right has a meeting at the
hospital.
Scene 1, shot 7: Camera is placed at the end
of the bed. Remains still whilst the
characters move. Shot is a medium long
shot.
Scene 1, shot 8: Camera is place on the
floor. Close up of girls feet. Camera remains
still as girls pass.
Scene 1, shot 9: Camera remains in place
after the girls have walked past for a brief
second. Position stays the same.
Scene 1, shot 10: Camera has a long shot of
the staircase. Remains still.
The characters place their phones on the
bedside table again and turn to get out of bed.
The characters then stand up and walk
past/towards the camera whilst the camera
stays still. This shot allows us to see character
1 in high heels whilst character 2 has cute girly
socks on.
A simple shot of the bed to show that the
girls have left the room.
The staircase allows the audience to know
that the scene is now on the landing, and
the characters are likely to move out of their
rooms.

4. Shot type/ Camera movement Narrative
Scene 1, shot 11: Camera remains in the
same position as in shot 10. Medium long
shot.
The characters move past the camera and walk
down the staircase. The camera remains in
position until they reach the bottom.
Scene 1, shot 12: Camera is placed at the
bottom the stairs at the other end of the
hallway. Medium long shot.
Scene 1, shot 13: Camera is placed at the
entrance of the kitchen. Medium shot,
remains in position as girls turn to face
object.
Scene 1, shot 14: Close up of bottle of
alcohol and close up of bottle of tablets and
water.
Scene 1, shot 15: The camera returns to a
medium shot.
The characters walk towards the camera as
they are about to enter another room.
The characters walk into the kitchen and turn
to the counter. On the left screen there is a
bottle on the counter, on the right screen
there is a bottle of tablets with a glass of water
next to it.
The close up of the alcohol and tablets lets
the audience think about what relevance
these objects might have. The song lyrics at
this point may give them an idea that the
term medicine is being used for drink as well
as actual medicine, (in the form of tablets) .
Character 1 can be seen taking a sip of
alcohol straight from the bottle which may
show her to be a lazy type of person due to
not pouring it into a glass. The girl on the
right takes her tablets and uses a nice fresh
glass of water to help swallow them. Making
her appeal less lazy. Audience may begin to
sympathize with character 2.

5. Shot type/ Camera movement Narrative
Scene 1, shot 16: Camera is positioned
facing the exit to the kitchen, shallow focus
on the bottle and tablets. Character become
out of focus as they walk off.
The characters place their items back on the
counter and walk off into the hallway.
Scene 1, shot 17: Camera positioned behind
the character for an over- the- shoulder shot
which allows the audience to seethe
characters face as well as their reflection.
Medium long shot.
Scene 1, shot 18: Camera is positioned in
the same place as shot 17. Medium shot.
Scene 1, shot 19: Camera remains in the
same position as shot 18. Medium shot.
Scene 1, shot 20: Medium close up of the
characters reflection in the mirror. Camera
placed behind character.
The characters are now in the bathroom and
are looking at their reflection. This allows the
audience to have a clear view of the characters
and gives them the impression that they see
that the character sees.
Character 1 turns on radio and begins to apply
make up whilst dancing to some music
character 2 checks face and begins to clean it,
looking quite sad.
The characters brush their teeth. Continuing
to show that they may be getting ready to
go somewhere (also shown by the text
messages in the previous shots.)
The reflection of the girls, shows a before
and after image of when they have finished
getting ready. It also gives the characters a
chance to express a facial expression to let
the audience know how they may be
feeling.

6. Shot type/ Camera movement Narrative
Scene 1, shot 21: Camera is positioned in
the same place as shot 20. Medium shot.
Camera remains still as characters move.
The characters walk away from the mirror and
exit the bathroom, heading back to the
bedroom.
Scene 1, shot 22: Camera positioned on the
floor level with characters feet. Medium
close up.
Scene 1, shot 23: Medium shot of upper
body. Camera remains still.
Scene 1, shot 24: Camera is placed at the
top of the stairs. Medium Long shot.
Scene 2, shot 25: Long shot of characters
walking. Camera is positioned on the
opposite side of the road.
The characters put their shoes on. Character 1
wears trainers whilst character two wears
pretty dolly shoes. Representing a more
innocent persona for the second character
compared to the one on the left. (Takes pride
in appearance.)
Both characters put a jacket on. Character 1
has a more edgy party jacket (possibly leather)
whilst character 2 has a more feminine casual
jacket. Once again clothes are used to
emphasis the two different characters
lifestyles.
The characters walk past the camera and
walk downstairs and open the door to leave.
The characters walk to their next
destination. The long shot allows the
audience to establish that the girls are
continuing their journey. This long shot also
enables the audience to see what the
characters are fully wearing, which once
again helps them form a view point.

7. Shot type/ Camera movement Narrative
Scene 2, shot 26: Camera is positioned on
opposite side of the road. Long shot which
characters enter and proceed to bus stop.
The characters can be seen waiting for a bus.
Scene 2, shot 27: Camera positioned in the
same place as previous shot. Bus comes into
the shot. Leaves the shot after 3-4 seconds.
Scene 2, shot 28: Medium shot of upper
body. Bus seats can be seen in the
background.
Scene 2, shot 29: Long shot of the bus stop
where girls arrive. Tracking shot of
characters walking towards destination.
Scene 3, shot 30: Close up of signs. Still shot.
Characters walk past the sign as the camera
stays in position.
The characters can be seen getting on to the
bus and then it drives away.
Character 1 puts her bag down next to her
seat, character 2 places it on her lap and looks
out of the window.
The characters get off the bus and begin to
walk.
The sign posts allow the audience to realise
where each character has arrived at.
Character 1 can be seen going to a
woodland/park whilst character 2 can be
seen going into a hospital.

8. Shot type/ Camera movement Narrative
Scene 3, shot 31: Long shot which is also
used as an establishing shot.
Character 1 sits down on grass and appears to
be waiting for someone as she looks around
and stares at her phone. Character 2 can be
seen waiting in a waiting room of hospital.
Scene 3, shot 32: Camera remains in same
position as a new male character enters on
the left screen, which then goes into a
medium shot. On the right the camera then
goes to a medium tracking shot of girl
walking down a corridor into a room.
Camera goes the medium close up as
character 1 greets boyfriend and character 2
greets a man who appears to be a doctor.
Scene 3, shot 33: Medium long shot of
couple on the left. Medium long shot of
conversation between doctor and character
2 on the right. Camera switches to close up
of characters faces as they have a
conversation.
Scene 3, shot 34: Over-shoulder-shot of
character 1’s face. Close up of a letter on
the right screen.
Scene 3, shot 35: Close up of characters
faces.
Left screen is now black and white
Right screen is now in colour.
Character 1 greets her boyfriend. Character 2
shakes hand with a man who appears to be a
doctor. This makes the audience wonder what
is going to happen next, as we are not quite
sure what both people are meeting for. This is
the start of the disruption to the narrative.
Character 1 can be seen to look confused, as
her boyfriend appears to be arguing with her.
Character 2 looks concerned and worried, the
doctor looks stern and serious.
The audience should realise by the facial
expression of character 1 that she is now
unhappy and may have broken up with her
boyfriend. The letter on the right screen
shows the audience that character 2’s
cancer has been terminated.
The facial expressions of character 1 are
now sad rather than happy and characters 2
are now happy rather than sad. The change
of colour resembles the change from happy
to sad, almost as if the characters have
swapped lifestyles.

Scene 4, shot 36: Medium shot of the
characters returning home.
Scene 5, shot 37: Camera is placed at the
bottom of the hallway. Medium long shot.
Scene 5, shot 38: Medium shot from behind
the characters.
Scene 5, shot 39: medium shot from the
side of the characters.
Scene 5, shot 40: Long shot of both
characters. Positioned on the side of the
characters.
Character 1 still appears to be upset as she
returns home. Character 2 appears joyful.
Both characters open their cupboards and look
inside.
Both characters take tablets out of the
cupboard and stare at them. This makes the
audience question that they are going to do
with them. This returns the narrative to a
brief equilibrium again.
Character 1 swallows a large amount of pills
whilst character 2 bins the bottle whilst
appearing to be happy. Character 1 is
distressed. The audience then may begin to
sympathize more the character 1 than 2.
The characters return home. Character 1 is
crying whilst character 2 appears to be
happy and smiling.

Scene 5, shot 41: Medium long shot. Camera
remains still. But is placed at a different
angle as the characters move around.
Scene 5, shot 42: Camera is close up to
characters faces.
Scene 6, shot 43: Birds eye view of
characters. Long shot.
Scene 6, shot 44: Close up of characters
faces. Birds eye view shot.
Character 1 drinks more alcohol and sits on the
bed. Character two holds a picture of her
friends. This is to demonstrate she is happy
she gets to live longer to spend time with
them, whilst character 1 drinks to use alcohol
as a form of drowning her sorrows.
Both characters are in a similar position to at
the start of the video. Character 1 clutches a
bottle in her hand and her eyes are open with
make up stains down her face.
We can see that character 1 has sadly
passed away from an overdose of tablets
and drink whilst character 2 awakens
smiling. This is the end of the video. This
then allows the audience to think about the
moral of my video and see the
consequences of what can happen.
Character 1 begins to mess up her room in
anger whilst character 2 dances around her
room happily.
