Introduction My name is… And been working with internet since 2000 I graduated as Academy Profession (AP) Degree in Computer Science / Datamatiker in 2000
And this is me… Or at least Google thinks so
My experience comes from Working @ several Advertising Agencys and web agencys across Denmark. (And of course working with other Agencys)
Anyways. Thats not what you came here to hear about
Every thing is great great incredible
The client show you their current website (Remember it doesn’t have to be nice to be usable)
Tada…. BUT!
The CEO is always right… or ?
Changes…
Changes from persons thats not in the project…
All hope is lost…
And your no longer a web designer…
An Abomination is born… Sorry let’s get started now
Anyways, thats not going to happen to your projects are they ?
Of course you could say that all others involved in the project also has a resposibilily for their part of the project So in my opinion all involved in the project is responsible for the project objectives – if they now them!! Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_manager . Key project management responsibilities include creating clear and attainable project objectives, building the project requirements, and managing the triple constraint for projects, which are cost , time , and quality.
Ok, so you need the basic project management tools! Whip, Carrot on a stick, and some sort of timetracking device Kilde: http://arms-gallery.dk/kat501-Piske/side3455-Pisk-lang.html Kilde: http://www.mainsport.dk/shop/stopur-avus-30-1344p.html Kilde: http://normalboy.wordpress.com/2008/04/ Kilde: http://nonsensegamer.com/obviously-a-carrot-on-a-stick/
This is where you meet the client and agree on the project terms together
Maybe you just need a simple brainstorm to get the project started Source: http://www.google.dk/imgres?imgurl=http://assessment-toolbox-edu-762-930.wikispaces.com/file/view/logo_anon.png/171677751/logo_anon.png&imgrefurl=http://assessment-toolbox-edu-762-930.wikispaces.com/MindMeister&usg=__7unJdYSnEA2dnTTefmtKv-WPZec=&h=60&w=340&sz=15&hl=da&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=wPCwuLCRplZnjM:&tbnh=48&tbnw=272&ei=xSl6TcjhKsKu8gPXpqS0BA&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dmindmeister%2Blogo%26hl%3Dda%26sa%3DX%26biw%3D1920%26bih%3D1115%26tbs%3Disch:1%26prmd%3Divns&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=560&oei=xSl6TcjhKsKu8gPXpqS0BA&page=1&ndsp=58&ved=1t:429,r:3,s:0&tx=105&ty=23
Otherwise you it all starts with defing the needs of the client. Make sure you can measure your goals, so you know if your project is a success
Maybe you could read my blog (Danish) http://blog.hamann.tk/?p=94 (don’t mind the design, it’s my playground) You could create this or a solutions description on how you plan on solving the objectives of the project- Just make sure eveything is documented
Estimate the whole project Try doing a BEST / WORST case scenario So how do you know this ? (Break it down)
More detailed view of estimates
It’s import that every member of the team knows their roles and success criteria
Basic projectplan ALWAYS ALWAYS remember to build in some slack (make the plan loose
Detailed Always keep the client informed about their deadlines and the status of the project And be honest! Make change requests
And make sure everything is defined like your estimates!
Kilde: http://thestylegeek.com/page/3/ Close the deal!
Is about the daily things with project management
Short intro on the process – sorry it’s not in english
Goals Audience Personas
Information Architecture Content Strategy Specification Requirements
Design Create the content Usertest
Frontend and backend development Testing testing testing Documentation
Webmaster education Add the content Launch
And of course – TRACKING TRACKING !
Weekly status meetings where the team talks about their tasks for the following week (s) And we go through the plan to see if everything is still on track Friday is the best day
The projectmanagers golden overview We know that to do this and the next couple of weeks. (Yes that can change in about ten minutes)
This is something we are going to try out (Our developer has been trained in SCRUM)
SCRUM Standup We are just starting to test this
Explain a job Every job/project needs a number in order to keep track of all the details, tracking, files, documentation etc. Then you can find it if you need it 6 months after.
We use Mite as our time tracking device Source: http://mite.yo.lk/
Every team member needs to specify exactly what they’ve been working on. ( Always specify what you have worked on.
Tool: Basecamp.com Proofing = korrektur From earlier today you remember the project plan Specify all of your milestones and keep track of all projects
And track all of your milestones and deadlines in your calendar
The client To do list and the ongoing process of developing af site.
Get the full project overview
Remember, that this counts as documentation The client can say GO or NO GO – Remember that projects CHANGE over time! The larger the project, the larger number of changes You can upload files, that specifies what you have done with the time
IM and chat for quick project status. Sometimes team members work at home – so communication online is important
Keep track on your time and keep and eye on the type of services you sell/use in a project This is very good for evaluating purpuse and to see what you spend the time om in the process
Evaluate on the goals and let the client evaluate your and your team! Team evaluation. Can we do anything better on the next project?
Of course you need to track your specified goals
And probably
Document changes to the project. And what it all comes down to are – Actual project management tools
