KAROSTA KIDS – IEDVESMO
JAUNIEŠUS LABĀKAI NĀKOTNEI
Biedrības "Karosta Kids" mērķi ir
sniegt daudzpusēju garīgo, izglītības,
emocionālo un fizisko atbalstu riska grupas
jauniešiem,ģimenēm un bērniem un
palīdzēt veiksmīgi izkļūt no nabadzības,
sociālās diskriminācijas un atstumtības
apļa. Biedrība savu darbību balsta
kristīgajās vērtībās.
"KarostasKids" - neatkarīgi no
vecuma, katrs joprojām esam bērns no tās
vietas un vides no kuras katrs nākam.
Daudziem cilvēkiem Karostā nekad nav
bijusi iespēja izdzīvot savu bērnību,
jaunību.

A BETTER FUTURE!
Karosta Kids aims is to give
educational, emotional, physical
and spiritual support to at-risk
youth, kids and families in order to
help them to break the cycle of
poverty and social discrimination.
Karosta Kids organization bases its
activity on the Christian values.
"Karosta Kids" - no
matter of the age, everyone still
remains a kid of the place where
she/he comes from. Many people
in Karosta have never had a chance
to live out their childhood. As an
organization we seek to bring
healing and restoration to the
brokenhearted.
We seek to multiply who
we are and believe that the kids
will pass it forward what they have
received.

KAROSTA
Vēsturiski Karosta kā pastāvīga pilsētvide
radās 19. gadsimta beigās un 20. gadsimta
sākumā. 1890. gadā pēc Krievijas cara
Aleksandra III pavēles uz ziemeļiem no Liepājas
pilsētas sākās apjomīga cietokšņa un kara
pilsētiņas celtniecība, un sākotnēji to nosauca par
Imperatora Aleksandra III ostu.
Tikai Latvijas valsts neatkarības laikā šo
vietu sāka dēvēt par Kara ostu. Aleksandra III osta
bija pilnīgi autonoma apdzīvota vieta ar savu
infrastruktūru, elektrisko spēkstaciju un
ūdensapgādi, baznīcu un skolām. Padomju laikā
Karosta bija slēgta teritorija, kas nebija pieejama
pat Liepājas civiliedzīvotājiem.
Karosta pēc Padomju armijas aiziešanas
iesāka dzīvot ģimenes ar bērniem, ar zemiem
ienākumiem, kas nespēja samaksāt par
dzīvesvietas komunāliem maksājumiem. Tāpēc
vēsturiski sāka veidoties sociāli un ekonomiski
nestabila situācija Karostā. Īpaši šajā Liepajas
pilsētas daļā var novērot sabiedrības
noslāņošanos, sociālo nevienlīdzību, nabadzību,
kriminogēnas vides attīstību, sociālā riska
ģimenes modeļa attīstību.
Vide šeit savdabīgi atspoguļo Krievijas
militārās elegances un padomju militārisma
mijiedarbību. Karosta šodien ir īpašs kontrastu
rajons.

Karosta as an independent city area originated during
the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In 1890 to the north of
Liepāja city the massive construction of fortifications and a
military camp was begun. The official order to start building
was given by Russian Tsar Alexander III. His son, Tsar
Nicholas II, named the new base Port of Alexander III. But
during the time of the first Latvian independence this place
was more and more often referred to as the Kara Osta (War
Port). The port of Alexander III was a fully autonomous,
populated area with its own infrastructure, electricity power
plant, sewage system, church and schools.
During the Soviet time Karosta was a closed and
covert zone with no admission even for the citizens of Liepāja.
Karosta is a northern neighbourhood which occupies one third
of Liepāja city. It is a spectacular, paradoxical and unique site
not only in Latvia but also in the world's history and
architecture. Its environment reflects the interaction of tsarist
Russia military elegance and Soviet militarism. Karosta today
is a special neighbourhood. It is not anymore a closed area of a
military base but a tourism site with an inspiring environment
for creative people as well.
Naval Port after the departure of the Soviet Army
began to live in a family with children on low incomes who
could not pay his home utility payments. So historically started
to develop socially and economically unstable Karaosta.
Especially in this part of the city Liepaja can observe social
fragmentation, social inequality, poverty, the environment in
the crime, family social risk model development.
However, despite the historically developed social

disadvantage, Karaosta prospects are favorable environment
for the crime and environmental mitigation exits from social
discrimination, providing support and assistance to a variety of

PROJEKTS “CERĪBAS TILTS”
Projekts "Cerības Tilts" tika veidots sadarbībā ar programmu „Jaunatne darbībā”. Projekts veidots pēc
jauniešu iniciatīvas un īstenots, lai radītu cerības tiltu jauniešiem ar vietējo sabiedrību. Ka arī iedvesmot jauniešus
realizēt un izmantot savu potenciālu kļūstot par līderi bez titula visās dzīves jomās. Šī projekta mērķis bija
paaugstināt jauniešu pašapziņu, piesaistot viņus četros galvenajos pasākumos: Jauniešu forums "TE-ES", kurā
jaunieši apskatīja veiksmes faktorus un rada radošus risinājumus, lai gūtu panākumus savā dzīvē; Labdrības akcija
"Inspiration" (Iedvesma) – jaunietis jaunietim iniciatīva, lai dotu prieku un cerību jauniešiem sociālās
institūcijās (jauniešu sagatavota programma: ielu dejas, mūzika, drāma, utt.); Tematiskais Foto Plenērs -
"Nabadzība VS Cerība" jauniešu acīm - lai veicinātu izpratni par nabadzības un tās ietekmi uz jauniešu nākotni;
Jauniešu piedzīvojuma skrējiens „Izlaušanās no labirinta” – lai stiprināt jauniešu spējas strādāt komandā,
uzņemties pozitīvu risku un iniciatīvu.
Projekts tika īstenots, lai vietējai sabiedrībai no negatīvām asociācijām radītu pozitīvas un parādītu, ka
arī Karostas reģionā dzīvo mācīties griboši, talantīgi un pašapzinīgi jaunieši.
PROJECT “THE BRIDGE OF HOPE”
The Bridge of Hope (Latv.-Cerības tilts) is a project done in collaboration with the Youth In Action
program. It is an initiative that is done by the youth of Karosta (Liepaja) to generate bridge of hope for young
people from social risk families to the local community by promoting integration of young people in social
processes. As well as to inspire youth to realize and use their full potential to become leaders without a title in
all spheres of life. The goal of this project was to raise self-esteem of youth by involving them in four main
activities: youth forum "Here I Am" (Latv.-TE ES) where youth looked at the success factors and find creative
solutions in order to succeed in their lives; Kindness Challenge - youth to youth initiative to bring joy and
hope to youth in social institutions (program prepared by youth: street dance, music, drama, etc.); Foto plenary
- Poverty vs Hope - by eyes of youth to raise awareness of poverty and it's impact on the future of youth;
Adventure run "Breakthrough" (Latv.-Izlaušanās) - to strengthern youth ability to work in teams, take
positive risks and take initiative.
The project was realized to the local community from the negative associations to create positive and
show that in Karosta live willing to learn, talented and confident young people. We would like to attract public
attention to social discrimination among young people as a result of social differences involved.
