2. Presentation
The following work was developed in order to create a situation in which the different modal verbs
are employed , so as members of a group, were developing a dialogue on context and deal
specifically situation , explained below.
Contexto de la situación:
En la oficina de reuniones del Banco New, se encuentra la Señora Gerente (Manager) del
Banco CAROLINA FONSECA, con la Asesora Comercial (Bussines Advisor) LUISA
FERNANDA GONZALEZ y la asesora de atención al Ciudadano (Adviser) PAULA ANDREA
ALVARES.
Asunto:
La gente del Banco New, explica a sus empleadas sobre el alcance del nuevo horario de
atención al Público el cual consiste en una jornada continua de desde las 8 de la mañana hasta
las 4 de la tarde, las trabajadoras escuchan con atención al gerente y realizan algunas
preguntas, porque son las encargadas de comunicar esta información a los demás empleados.
Perfil del Gerente (Manager):
Es una persona imponente, extrovertida, especialista en comercio internacional y empresaria.

Perfil de la Asesora comercial (Bussines Advisor):
Es una mujer seria, trabajadora, con buenas relaciones personales.

Es una persona atenta, conocedora del tema de atención al cliente, colaboradora.

3. Start the conversation
Good morning ladies, Thanks for taking my call; Can I speak English?
Luisa: yes
Paula: Will we Learn English?
Carolina: It is very important.
Customers will be happy with these news, it is a very appropriate time to do you
banking,
Luisa: We can work late tonight if you need us.
Paula: Can I have a glass of water?
Manager: Hi Luisa! How are you?
Business Advisor: Fine and you?
Manager: Good! I must say that I spoke with Paula... I mentioned the changes that must be made
regarding the customer service hours.
Business Advisor: Oh! Really? It’s fine, but… what said Paula?
Manager: Sure, we agreed upon new ideas of what we should implement for the schedule change.
Business Advisor: Oh! So great! That’s fine, she is intelligent and proactive.
Paula (Adviser): Hi Luisa! Hi Carolina… How are you?
Luisa: Fine
Carolina: Good! And you?
Paula: I do not feel good, I feel a little sick…
Luisa: You should go to the doctor, you don’t look well!
Carolina: Yes! Luisa That's right!
Paula: I can’t!
Luisa: Why not?
Paula: I must not leave my job.
Carolina: True, many times it is due to leave work, but this is not a necessity, so
you should. Rather, you have to, I order it… Right now!
Paula: I will not go
Luisa: I will love that but just after finishing the meeting. Then I will ask for
permission to seek medical advice.
4. Carolina: No problem, it can be at the end of the meeting.

Paula: Yes

Schedule and so they can communicate to customers.
if we all work, we will be able to comply with the order and therefore, the bank will provide
better service.
I must inform you that those who don’t comply with the new Schedule, their contract will be
terminated.
Could you meet this new schedule?
Luisa: At the beginning we might be a little lost.
Paula: You should increase salaries for overtimes.
Carolina: I should comply with his request, since it’s a bank decision.
Paula: I can be excused? I feel sick.
Carolina: Yes, thanks for coming.
