7. Bulletin Board: This board is approximately 13 feet long. I covered it in off-white burlap and used a black & white Frog Street border, which will stay the entire year. The board displays children's work. At the time I took this picture, our board had 8x10 photographs of each child with their self-portrait beside it.
9. Our calendar: I use a real calendar (this one has Van Gogh paintings). I circle the days that are past, mark birthdays with the child's name, mark holidays and special events with a simple symbol, and mark days at home with a symbol of a house. The children enjoy looking through the pages to see the special days we have passed and those that are upcoming (especially their birthdays).
10. This is our circle time easel. It holds the books we are reading, pocket chart, iPod player, and music props. The baskets contain bean bags, bells, shakers, scarves, rhythm sticks, large foam letters, and in the back is our collection of rhythm instruments. We use the rhyming cards and alphabet cards for games and movement activities.
11. This is an extra shelf that holds our puzzles, dry erase boards, clipboards, Legos, and student portfolios.
