LO2A – ANIMATION
PRODUCTION TEAM
PRESENTATION
2. TARGET AUDIENCE
For this animation we are creating, our target audience is chi ldren
of the age 4 – 12. This is qui te a ranged target audience, however
we feel that i t is sui table for our animation. Chi ldren aged 4, wi l l
e n j oy wat c h i n g t h e s h o r t movi e due to t h e f ac t i t ’s an imate d an d
includes animals. Older chi ldren wi l l enjoy also the animated side
to i t, but also the comedy wi thin i t that the younger chi ldren may
not understand.
The plot of our animation includes two chicks who are the
characters wi thin. They are battl ing for food, which resul ts in one
of them getting hi t over the head. It ’s a si lent animation, however
i t wi l l include music and wi l l be very narrative due to the storyl ine.
Our style of animation is 2D, simi larly to snoopy.
3. DELEGATION OF ROLES
We are both working on laptops to design and
create our animation. We wi l l be using adobe flash
player. We do not have any cast or voice ar tists
due to our animation being a si lent animation. It
wi l l a l l b e d o ne o n a d o b e s o we wo n’ t ne e d to h ave
any voice overs, just a theme tune playing
throughout.
We could compare our animation to Snoopy, a 2D
animation, very popular with chi ldren. This also
includes animals, and is also a comedy just l ike
our animation. It is reassuring to know that this is
popular with chi ldren and ours is very simi lar to it.
4. RISK ASSESSMENT 1
Our animation is ful ly original as our
characters, storyl ine, music and ideas are al l
made up by ourselves, so we wi l l have copyright
as our company.
We could also put trademarks on our company
and characters i f we feel this is appropriate.
Our animation is completely unique, we have
not taken ideas or character designs from any
other company, and the music we use wi l l be
total ly original . Therefore, we do not have to
contact anyone for permission to make our 2D
animation.
One thing that we wi l l have to do is contact the
BBFC in order for our animation to be rated. We
would have to submi t our animation so i t would
be under the category U so i t would be
appropriate for chi ldren.

Computers –
The fact our
whole production
is going to be
computerized,
may be a problem
due to the fact
that we can loose
all data
Producers Pre-made
work
Backing up MODERATE We may need to
ensure that we have
it saved in 2 or more
places, the
computer, a
memory card, and
the hard drive
Only saved on one
producers
computer
Producers Pre- made
work may be
lost
Saving HIGH We are going to
have to ensure we
have copies of the
work on both
producers
computers
Wire-s – when
charging
computers, wires
could be a hazard
as we could trip up
on them
Production/
editing team
Us Put the wires to
one side,
knowing that
they’re there
MODERATE We need to ensure the
laptops have enough
charge beforehand so
we won’t need to use
the wires during
production. If we need
to then we could put
them out of sight.

6. RESEARCH 1
Quantitative and secondary research-
All of the f ilms listed are aimed at
children and all have the highest
scores, all 70% and above. This is
relevant to us, as they're aimed at
the same age group as ours. From
this research we have gathered
conf idence, as we now know
children's animations are always
popular, and we will have a good
audience to make our animation
successful.
7. RESEARCH 2
Qualitative and primary research-
We gave a questionnaire based on
animations to year sevens. All of them
put it was a good storyline and will be
enjoyable and funny, just like our idea.
However two of them put that we
should maybe add another character
to it, however a shor t animation can
only be a cer tain length, and this
storyline seems to f it that time limit.
8. RESEARCH 3
Quantitative and secondary research-
We found that children's’ TV channels
are extremely popular, and that the
most popular programmes on these
channels are made from 2D animation.
We looked further on the viewing
website BARB and looked at the top 10
programmes for Cartoon Network on
August 14th. We found that the top
programme is a 2D animation show
called Adventure Time.
9. RESEARCH 4
Primary research-
We asked six girls and boys in year
seven abo u t t h e v id e o ‘ T h e C at C ame
B ac k ’ an d we aske d t h em abo u t o u r
animation. One of the focus group
said that it was interesting with no
speech, so in our animation, we will
aim to make it as interesting as
possible to avoid children thinking it
isn ’ t an an interesting animation.
10. BUDGET
For this production, we not need a budget , as we wont need to hire
out anywhere for fi lming, and the sof tware that we are using is
al ready instal led on the computers/Macs that we are using.
Our soundtrack wi l l be one of the background sounds already
l isted on adobe. We are looking for something upbeat and jol ly.
Have any of you ever seen Mr Bean before?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBo-Tr5B9wc
- As you can see, there is music at the beginning, and then i t
slowly dies out, i t then is si lent, but there is grunts and huf fs. This
is kind of the thing were going for, we may include some chirping,
as the chicks are our characters.
