5. the middle class: usually paid by salary, ''white collar''workers. individuals earning at least $45,000 per year; family of 4 earning at least $65,000 per year. not working means losing middle class status.
7. the poverty class: people living below the poverty line. including minimum wage workers. 1 person earning less than $19,000 per year; family of 4 earning less than $25,000 per year.
8. the under class: people who live in destitution outside of the system, often without addresses or phone numbers.
