I have been working in education for nearly 30 years. I left scientific research to train as a teacher in 1986 and since then have worked in primary, secondary, tertiary and HE as well as in informal contexts (such as a precursor of forest schools). I joined Lewes Tertiary College in 1990, drawn by its radical mix of vocational and academic teaching and found myself in my element, teaching both 16+ and adults returning to education. I took the opportunity to teach across a wide range of subjects and levels, from foundation (SEN) to post graduate, and through this developed a deep interest in what really enables learning in these diverse contexts.
